Fun Fact: The background music for Door #2 is from the obscure 1977 game show "It's Anybody's Guess"...hosted by Monty Hall, and announced by Jay Stewart.

In Houston, TX we had this on what's now KIAH - CW 39. Syndicated by Rhodes TV Group, an MGM company, and Fremantle.

I wonder if WANX has saved any of the episodes of Let's Make A Deal from 1980 and 1981.

WUAB Cleveland (now sister station to the current home of LMAD, WOIO) aired this as part of a morning block which also had Hollywood Squares and $50K Pyramid.

How could they not know the hot sauce was .89? I think Monte was disappointed with them and ended that deal quickly.

These are interesting to see. Apparently you couldn’t show real money on Canadian television or maybe they didn’t want to show Canadian money. I do miss Jay Stewart though. He and Monty were a great team but I know he was announcing for Barry and Enright shows in 1981. Thanks for sharing this as I don’t remember seeing them when they aired (if they did in the Louisville Kentucky area).

Monty did explain the LMAD money on at least one occasion. Since the show had both Canadian and American contestants, that money was used only on air and the contestant(s) would be paid in the currency of their home country.

The real question is whether the contestants actually received their prizes considering Catalena Productions went bankrupt.

I think Monty Hall had to step in and make sure they actually did receive them. Things didn't get much better for Catalena, as they were sued for $200K by Hatos-Hall. I think it had something to do with a payment owed to them. It could partially explain why "Pitfall" was even worse once that went into production.
