I keep seeing these comments abt readjusting the mapping due to glowing header pipe. I just bought this bike, it’s factory tuned and 100% stock, and I can tell everyone that the stock pipe glows red within the first 5 minutes!! That header pipe is probably an improvement from what it does stock. I like this bike, but if I had one major knock on it, it’s the fact that California emissions shortchanged this bike from the jump!!! You are getting a fraction of the power of a 292cc bike should give you
You had trouble mounting the rear screw because you put it inside the bracket. It should go outside and it will then fill more of the gap between the fender
Sounds amazing! But I think the bike's running extremely lean and hot now, after this upgrade. I hope he buys a ECU/fuel tuner module to add a bunch more fuel into the intake. You'd have a bunch more power too. Too bad those ECU tuner things are so damned expensive, like $500 :( Makes me want the older carbureted KLX300.
Exactly my concern. That bike is running lean and the intake is starving it. Sheeeeshh sounds nice but oh my God your bike is running super lean with that set up.
Carbs are pretty simple once you understand how they work. Plus if a injector gets clogged you have a real problem. If a jet gets clogged you can pull the bowl spray it with some carb cleaner in the middle of no where and be back on the trail in 20min. I’ve had fi bikes they are good but it’s a pain to get them where you want them then when you do hope nothing goes wrong with it because it’s going to cost you.
Yeap, I went riding today, and it got glowing red, I had to take the power commander off, that helped a little. I’ll send an email to the dyno jet people to see if they have a map for it.
@Sysiphus Syziggy I’m not sure yet, the first time I rode with it the powerbomb got red and my dad told me to take the power commander off and see if it would get red again and it didn’t, so my guess is that it might have something to do with the map... I have read that most of the time when upgrading the exhaust you gotta remap.
Nice pipe, thx for sharing. Just bought the same bike. Would like to do some upgrades for and that's one. I noticed you have a headlight. Where did you buy, what make and was difficult to install. Cheers!
Hi thanks for uploading. Can I ask why you chose that fmf header as opposed to the other squarish mega bomb? I can’t find a full exhaust for sale and want to make sure I order the hex4 with the correct header. Thank you again
Hey! The truth is that I bought that megabomb because it was the only one available. I have heard that that’s the best header you can buy for a dirt bike, but I don’t know for sure. And in my opinion it looks a lot better than the square one 🤷🏽♂️ thank youu for watching!
Thanks for the reply. Good to know. There seems to be 2 headers available. You picked a good one. I have a mega bomb on my kx250f. I’ll be ordering my system separately as I can’t find complete systems for sale and I will order what you have. Thanks for helping me out.
i have a TTR230 and i’m desperately looking to upgrade. i want a KLX300R but i’m worried about the weight. does it bother you all that much? also, i’m worried i’ll be bored by the power delivery. mind you, i’ve only been riding for about 4-6 months, so maybe i’m too confident 😂
Just purchased a 2021 KLX 230R and a 2020 KX250F. I have to admit...the 230R is very impressive with the EFI and disc brakes. Having owned a TTR and CRF230, the KLX 230R is hands down the best.
Hey! I did not :( but I did hold them at the same time and the fmf one is A LOT lighter than the bazooka she had before lol I think the megabomb is actually a bit heavier than the stock header tho, but I’m not 100% sure.
imo they are 100% worth it! The only bad thing is that you may have to remap because the map that comes with the power commander is for the stock exhaust only... but other than that you’ll not regret it. Thanks for the comment!!
In my opinion it makes a really big difference. You can feel that the bike revs faster, and to me it feels like it can even rev higher. And I think I feel most of the power at mid rpms. Please lmk if you have any other questions.
@@jackdyer8405 the stock exhaust is mounted on the inside of the bracket (closer to the tire), if you do that with the fmf, the tire will rub on the pipe, so what you gotta mount the pipe to the right of the bracket (farther away from the tire). It’s hard to explain, I have some pictures of what I mean, if you want you can give me your email and I can send them to you.
I think it’s because the exhaust is new and it might have grease and stuff like that from when it was manufactured. I think it’s normal because when my dad got his it did the same exact thing.
@@themarcopolo. thanks, brother, I just found your response to my question in the threads. Figured somebody else wanted to know also, came back to my comment to tell you I found your answer, and lo and behold you're quick like bunny. Thanks again.
Hi Eric, this is the muffler I had on the bike Powercore 4 HEX (042387). And the header i had is this one Stainless MegaBomb (042386). Regarding the sprocket, I’m not sure if the kx ones will fit. Thanks for the comment!!
@@themarcopolo. let me know if u can find out if sprockets are interchangeable with kx models I can’t find sprockets to lower gear ratio on east coast u.s. all low speed tech crap.
@@themarcopolo. Yeah I think so. Power Commander too. Love that we have the same bike. Man, I need to upload the video of the day I took the 300r to the MX track ! lol. Gonna try to do it tomorrow.
@@TopshelfJunior I know, it would be cool if we lived closer so we could ride together lol. And you definitely should upload it, I would love to watch it!
@@petertaylor2148 hopefully hahaha, I started riding in May or April (I’m not sure) so I’ve been trying to focus on learning how to actually ride. Once I feel more confident I’ll start working on my wheelies. And thanks for the comment Peter!
Just started huh.. Put two stakes in the ground 10 yards apart and ride figure 8 between them, you know around them.. ( for about half an hour per day ) slowly for the first day or two.. then faster.. !! Don't hurry this though , take weeks if you need to or even months.. keep going until you're able to slide that baby around with style and control.. Trust me it will make a great rider out of you .. You'll learn all about breaking, throttle control., body position on the bike, all kinds of stuff , all from this simple exercise !! And don't worry when you fall off ,, we've all fallen off , literally thousands of thimes, it how we learn. Enjoy 😉
Sure, the part number is (042387) and the name of the exhaust is “Powercore 4 HEX”. You can also go to the description of this video and then click the link, it should take you right to it.
@@themarcopolo. 👊. Ah ha...I been after the Q4. Has never been in stock yet on their site. Thank you! Do you think the megabomb made a noticable difference?
@@triple6758 you’re welcome! And tbh I can’t really answer that, since I didn’t ride her with out it, but I read that when installing the megabomb the hp can increase as much as 3 hp... so my guess is that it does make a difference lol
