Jennifer and James Crumbley appeared for court Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 via video conference as they attempted to get their bonds reduced. Full coverage: www.clickondet...
@@corleonetoto2131 So, you're saying that 325+ million folks in America "feel entitled"? Where did you find the time to poll them all to find if your claim is true? Or even one millionth of them? 🙄
This is what is wrong with America , these 2 disgusting people can buy a gun for a child and promote it then kill innocent children and they claim they did nothing wrong, they can’t even parent correctly lock them up , also USA put down your guns
The parents piss me off shaking their heads and rolling their eyes. This is evidence shown from their phones and witness statements. Such childish behavior.
The fact that they sent their friend out to get them vodka and orange juice while they were holed up in the building in downtown Detroit just shows how shameless they are.
@@akceleron1446 The dad had lost his job and was a Door Dash driver. The parents had stopped paying the mortgage on their house and the mom was apparently having affairs. They could afford to buy their kid a gun and take him to gun ranges to practice shooting it, but they couldn't be bothered to pay for the roof over their head. Makes no sense at all.
These parents really don’t give af about their kid. I knew they took money from their own bank account but I didn’t realize they drained his account. Sad that this entire situation could have been prevented if they would have paid even the slightest attention to the mental health of their child and got him help.
YES, you hit the nail on the head about the crux of this matter! They were SO out of touch with the mental condition of their MINOR 15 year old son that they didn't have a clue that he was predisposed and therefore capable of carrying out this tragic crime. Ethan had 💩 for parents. Having this in mind, I feel for Ethan. Poor child! These parents need to pay, and pay royally!
I'm so glad that the bond was denied! These are 2 people who are more interested in saving their own hides then caring about their son, his mental health and the excruciating pain he caused!
Yes bad parenting is agree but if my kid was in jail for killing people and then I end up in jail for their stupidity I would be more worried about myself as well they realy cant do much for him when they no hes in their for life cant really help someone when their all behind bars
This lady is wacko. She looks unstable. Ethan had zero shot of having a successful future with these 2 parents. Such a sad state of affairs from beginning to end.
Selfish parents...Sad. All these two really are doing, is showing the world how to make a child and walk away....some people should never be allowed to procreate.
Why aren’t the parents’ lawyers telling them to stop shaking their head and laughing at what the lawyer is saying? It makes them look like conceited, heartless idiots. Do those idiot parents think the judge is gonna see that and say “oh they’re shaking their head they must be innocent”
A contrary example is the Forest Florida kid who tried to commit a school shooting stopped, and came to his senses after firing a single bullet through a door and hearing the screams of an injured student. He realized the damage of what he had just done. He stopped himself and dropped his gun, because he still had empathy for human life and didn’t want to see anyone in further pain - even though his plan was to kill people that day. He had multiple shotgun shells that he could have used and he made the choice not to. He walked past a girl who had fear in her eyes and didn’t shoot her even though he could have. He had mental health issues and was raised in a violent household with neglectful parents. He felt ignored and socially isolated away from everyone else. He researched about shootings just like Ethan did. But the difference between him and Ethan is that he had enough empathy to put his gun down after hearing the sound of his victim screaming in pain. If Ethan had any amount of empathy left in him he would’ve stopped at his first victim. He kept going like they weren’t even human to him. Listening to the screams of kids in agony and pain and walking past the bodies of kids lying in a pool of their own blood, making one kid kneel in the bathroom and shooting him in the head at close range, telling another kid to get down next to his body after he just shot him, re-loading his gun with 18 more bullets after carrying out a bloody carnage are all signs of someone who displays a chronic lack of empathy and a strong desire to kill.
@@oceanrocks It reminded me of a very recent case that happened here in Florida, Aiden Fucci, a juvenile, killed a 13 yo girl, he stabbed her to death numerous times, 114 i think it was and he intentionally did it, he kept viciously stabbing because he wanted to kill, didn´t feel anything, any remorse for that little girl. I still ask myself why would a 14 year old even think to do that and plan all that. Kids are really capable of unspeakable things, but like why something to this degree?! Terrifying. I do think the parents role in raising contributes to shape a person, and here we did learn his parents weren´t doing their job educating him, but that doesn´t excuse stabbing someone over a 100 times. It´s even hard to comprehend.
Thanks for posting this video with the footage of the parents reactions. The world needs to see this. It's ironic that all of the commentators on the previous videos blaming the school system are now silent. Like I said before HORRIBLE PARENTS, HORRIBLE SON.
"But, Judge! Just think of the trauma they've been through! They had to sell their horses in florida. And the jail people are not even letting Jennifer send sweet "lol" messages to cheer up her boy after this silly misunderstanding. And think of all those people in the neighborhood waiting for their Wendy's delivery because doordash is a driver short with james being behind bars. And those mean parents of the dead kids are saying bad things about them! Haven't they suffered enough?"
There's a lot of really dumb decisions that were made, but the parents had a duty under Federal law to keep the handgun from the kid even if state law doesn't have an explicit safe storage provision. There is definitely culpable negligence. And, most telling, their kid has a public defender and they have expensive lawyers. That last fact should tell you everything about their level of caring you need to know.
The father bought the gun for their son for Christmas and the mother took their son to shooting lessons and allowed him access to gun whenever he wanted it. The parents new his plan at school that's why they didn't want him going home. The school should've demanded they take their son home and they had the right to check the bag he had. The parents have had trouble with DUI'S in the past so the whole family isn't right. They shouldn't lower bond.
@@amandaspellman9676 oh yeah send the kid home and all of his murder ideas disappear and won't ever reappear again. That would have solved everything. You're an idiot.
@@amandaspellman9676 there is no law against that. I know so many kids who go on shooting range each year and also go hunting. People just mad at his parents which they can't cantrol what their teenager son due. They can only try to be a parent to him.
I can't believe their lawyers haven't told them to keep a straight face during these video proceedings; it's such a basic tenet. Therefore, I have to believe that the defendants are either slow learners or outright disregard their attorneys' advice. It does not look good at ALL to be shaking your head, laughing, looking shocked, etc. during a hearing. Do you think the judge doesn't see you doing all that mugging? Do you think a judge is going to allow you to carry on like this at trial? I think not. You guys aren't helping yourselves out in the least. I don't get it.
I want the death penalty they would want it to if it was their child. They are not innocent. These people are racist and I think they got stopped before more children were killed.
Why do these parents keep asking for a lower bond? Listening to this, They should be denied any bond. There is CLEAR evidence showing they were preparing to flee and be on the run plus the case against them is pretty solid. They are going to prison.
The parents are arrogant, self serving, substance abusers. Their entire lifestyle reflects gross unaccountability. You go on the run and ask for vodka and orange juice in the midst of making huge necessary strategic decisions? They abandoned their son before this incident, and they continued abandonment in draining his account and leaving him with a court appointed attorney, while they hired top legal counsel. In all of the financial arrangements being handled by family, who's paying for Ethan's commissary? Even if they didn't pull the trigger, their lack of accountability is transparent, annoying, and will continue.
Their own attorneys stated today that “ multiple calls were made to our clients to arrange turning themselves in…” And THEY NEVER ANSWERED THE CALLS! Should have been added!! THAT SAYS EVERYTHING ABOUT FLIGHT RISK!!!
The school had the right to check the backpack especially after what they found. The parents should've taken their son home and the school should've demanded they take their son home.
I love how this District attorney wants these parents to be held responsible so badly but wont prese charges on the person most responsible for this whole problem, the school official who didn't have Ethan's belongings checked and sent him back to class.
Definitely both are immature and should never have had kids. U can see instead of trying to get their maniac kid the help he needed they just played the friend role with him instead of being a parent. Are they liable for this tho as dumb as they are and as narcissistic as they are I still say no. Karen McDonald is trying to make a name for herself here. The parents are awful people no question but if the gun was secured the prosecution is reaching on this one IMO. they are guilty of being terrible parents no question but there isn’t a criminal statute for that as far as I know. Unless they can prove the parents were aware of this kids intentions and also gave him free access to the weapon knowing this, technically there is no case against them as I see it
Texts for months to mom about hallucinations and they never got him help? He was literally crying for help. He absolutely did wrong but I can certainly see a path he was given.
What shocks me is his mom was aware of his problems and was stupid enough to text her concerns to her Co workers. Then she texts her son asking him if he told his teachers about his new toy? His mother apparently doesn't have critical thinking skills, common sense, or reasonable thinking. Any parent whom knowingly is aware her son is mentality disturbed buys him a lethal firearm then brags about it on her social media then texts her son stupid questions while he's in school and a meeting about his behavior issues is as negligent as they come.
And why isnt the school accountable for not sending him HOME that day. Im sorry the school had crap going on at this school for weeks and they didn't send him HOME.
Idc the school could of told them he is suspended for the drawings. I watched the video and I also know they are making laws as they go to charge them with. Anyone of you people who think if someone else does something and you should be charged and you didn't tell that person to do it YOU ARE A IDIOT. They was just trying to make their kid happy and his dumb a@s shot up the school not THEM. This system in this country is beyond RIDICULOUS.
BTW NO ONE OUTSIDE OF THE SHOOTER HAS EVER BEEN CHARGED IN SHOOTING IN THIS COUNTRY. THEY ARE trying to make a news media frenzy out of this. If you people don't see they want to take our guns away your sadly sleeping or live in a box. Wake up I REPEAT NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN CHARGED OUTSIDE OF THE SHOOTER. HMMMM HMMM RED FLAG I THINK SO.
Pluto and Uranus get your a$$ out of uranus. Kids use their parents guns in 75% of the school shootings and they never charged any of them. Not even with keeping a GUN in a insecure place. People are so asleep its sad.
Ethan had a jar in his room containing the severed head of a bird for six months. A head Ethan severed. His parents did nothing. That’s all I need to know. They’re just as dangerous as their rotted crotch fruit.
The judge had absolutely ZERO interest in hearing out the defence - her mind was made up that they weren’t going anywhere!! Nice job draining ya kids account and leaving him with a public defender - if that’s not abandonment then I don’t know what is!!!!
@@__76--_-646 To be called into the school and to see that disturbing drawing their son did and then to just up and LEAVE their kid there and not say a peep about the gun their kid had access to. That is just unfathomable to me.
They can’t even adhere to not talking during court appearances They can sit there & shake their heads about what the school asked them to do as it would have been documented Clearly this kid was displaying signs of mental health issues & they ignored them & played them off as nothing serious…. Well now they know it’s serious
They bought cell phones, emptied their bank accounts (and their sons) and we're hiding and preparing to run and leave him with a public defender. Parents of the year!!
Where do these 2 hideous buckets of slop get the gall to show their feelings about the case against them? They don't get to shake their heads and mouth words of disagreement! They'd be removed from the courtroom! And then to sit there and communicate with each other - wtf? They should be punished for contempt of court!
Jennifer is certainly the one desperately looking for a way to run. It doesn't look like her husband plotting but likely would go along with her. If they had got a bond they could afford, there eventually would be another warrant out for them as they attempt to escape their responsibility to face charges. They are where they should be until the trial is complete. They could become very dangerous if allowed out of the jail.
Just because you have a child- it doesn't make you a good parent, a smart care giver or even a decent human being. I hope they act like these same fools in court
Remember what you wish other soon or later you will be next. That when you will think twice. Life is unforgiving and karma is hell. So be careful what you wish others. This situation is a new chapter and next school shooting all the parents should be charge as well and lets see. The sins of your childrens should be pay with parents as well. Even gang childrens who take their family's guns. Like the kid in texas his parents should be charge as well.
WHY IS THE JUDGE NOT LIT UP? Someone should turn her light on! I guess nobody noticed for over 30 minutes THE JUDGE’s light was not on!! Really?? And what’s up with Jennifer crumbley hairdo?? Did she think she was attending a premier or something?? She kept flinging her hair back too! REALLY ??
She's in front of a bright window, which is causing her to be backlit. We've all made that mistake, but since you can see yourself on camera, most of us fix it by moving to another area. Go figure. 🙄
… I can’t believe the mother laughed on zoom during the hearing. I promise you, regardless of evidence presented, that will be their ultimate undoing. Speechless
THESE are the "role models" they set for their kid! ZERO respect for human life; ZERO respect for the LAW ENFORCEMENT who protect human life every day; and ZERO respect for the COURT SYSTEM! NOTHING about them is good or upstanding! I get a REALLY bad vibe from HER ... since MOTHERS ARE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THEIR CHILDREN! SHE tips my CREEPY METER!! 😡🤯👹
I certainly hope that friend that moved out of state is getting help. Even if he didn’t have tendencies similar to Ethan‘s having had such a close relationship with him would be troubling.
That IS THEIR FOUGHT!! They should know!! These parents signed their 10 year old child into RU-vid!! Why?? Today I can understand children wanting to “ think” they are geniuses and can “ makes” videos. BUT IF YOU ALLOW YOUR 10 year old to make videos, let the child use your RU-vid account!! That way YOU. will know what they are posting hence thinking. Do not lie to RU-vid to allow your 10 year old to have “ adult permission” when all you want is to get the child out of your hair.! This is worse than “ poor parenting”! This is criminal! And now 4 teenagers have been murdered!! The prosecution MUST NOT ALLOW THE DEFENSE, THE JURY TO EVER FORGET THIS ! They must bring this fact into EVERY SENTENCE when these parents go to trial!!
These Attorneys sound so dumb, “ Your honor, they did not know their son had a bird head, and was killing animals!”, just poor parenting; aware of their son’s mental / emotional health. They paid attention to buying guns for Christmas and now hiring an Attorney to save their own behinds, while he kept Nazi items in his bedroom, posing with guns. Now he has a public defender, because they surely did not pay for a psychiatrist , while mommy and daddy had their own personal affairs. They are so full of crap and self gratification. It cost their son & his schoolmates lives, while they still live, shaking their head, no to everything on the Petition, with mom laughing on the stand. Bond denied, now laugh at that. The judge is being the parent these parents never had and did not know how to be !
The school counselors were not aware that the parents had purchased that kid a gun. Had the parents, at the meeting mentioned it...then I am sure school officials would have removed the kid and contacted the police.
I live in Grand Prairie TX and I am positive in my school district he would have not been able to go back to class. He would not been able to return to school with out a visit to a Psychiatrist. Then he'd be placed in a school district Alternative School where they have metal detectors and search the students before they enter. That day if the parents didn't take him, and If the school let him stay he would have went to ISS (in school suspension ) where he would have been behind a lock door. The Parents were wrong, The school did wrong, and of course the shooter was WRONG! Sad Sad Sad
So they take there sons money leaving him with nothing!! They let there son do what he wants and take his own fall and leave him behind for themselves!! And now they are acting like they didn’t do a damn thing wrong and doing stuff on camera that they think the judge won’t see!! These parents deserve no mercy!!
Oh come on! Parents went to a school meeting after they bought him the gun! The meeting was about guns and the doodles and his phone. Violence and lack of hope. Dad didn’t search his backpack? That was sitting right there, on the floor, during the meeting. Nobody said a word about an actual gun. I heard a cop was there. Nobody searched his backpack before, during, after the meeting. Just sent the killer down the hall? I would of searched it, illegally! Just grabbed it and looked. Everyone had an opportunity to change everything. Ethan is going to prison for the rest of his life but everyone else that dropped the ball will probably walk away!
Most schools have the same implied consent to search regulation I have when I drive into the restricted area of the parking lot at work [civilian federal property] and an expectation of privacy in the school is not guaranteed by the 4th Amendment's rigorous standards. Searches need to be administered in a way that preserves dignity but are generally permitted in public schools to include drug dogs and even locker searches. Magnetometers and X-ray machines at the doors of the school shouldn't be seen as a necessary substitute for accountability and parenting. I have guns. I have one child still in school. I have discussed this case candidly with my son and have made it a point to know what both my boys experiences were in school because I suffered bullying and it was tough in the 90s before the internet let bullying become a 24-hour problem. It scares me that these people exist, but it doesn't surprise me that they exist.
The schools now unfortunately have different rules and regulations now compared to when we went to school. Which it is unfortunate! Kids now are scared to go to school here, but back in the day any threat made there was your whole family and everyone else’s family in the community sitting in the parking lot waiting…
IT IS HIS FOUGHT!! He murdered 4 teenagers while they were at school!! I don’t care “ who” should have, could have because this killer shot other humans and killed them!! He knew right from wrong! He just wanted to see what real blood and guts looked like!! If they had taken the backpack he would have found another way. Probably not that day but another day! Do you really think if the dad found the gun in the backpack that would have changed his behavior at home with this killer? I doubt it. But the teens that day may be alive today. I agree that others definitely ruined chances to stop this. Why? , I wish I knew! Send him home? Not to an empty house. When the parents refused to take him home social worker should have been notified. The school was worried about suicide ?? Well they missed that too! He never had any suicidal intentions. He never wanted to shoot himself ! Only others. I hope he goes to jail with his parents for life!!
@@ICARE9449 The issue is culpable negligence, the provision of a gun which could be an 18 USC § 922(x) and § 924 violation in addition to state charges. You're correct, he could have found another way, but we're talking about buying the gun on the 26th and the kid committing mass murder on the 30th. Along with complete dereliction of parental responsibility, the willingness to let the kid they failed rot while they sell everything and try to flee, etc. The murderers of my generation, 3 years after I graduated high school, acquired a long gun through a female friend and an Intratec Tec-9 [which is mean looking but it creates more jams than a county full of grandmothers and is only slightly more accurate than a smoothbore musket] from a coworker and friend who were federally prosecuted under the Youth Handgun Safety Act [the 18 USC § 922(x) and § 924] which has no carve-outs for parents except possession for legal activities with written permission. People have tried to make this a 2A issue when it's a culpable negligence issue. And, mens rea can pretty much be assumed since the bodies weren't even cold before they were trying to coordinate flight from justice. These people are a threat to gun rights because those rights come with very important responsibilities. I've bought my kids guns, but they remained under my supervision until my elder boy was of age, and my younger won't keep his own firearm until he's an adult. Shooting is a family activity. Security devices are less expensive than lawyers.
With this case the only question that I have how come the school didn't call 911 if they suspected that this young man had a weapon indeed he did take the gun and shoot for that they are responsible and guilty as their son who pulled the gun out
I am convinced now more than ever that Ethan was trying to get back at his parents for their emotional neglect! Unfortunately, those beautiful souls were casualties of his tantrum!
No no no!! This killer enjoyed killing!! Have you listened to the prosecution describe him killing animals, watching endless violent RU-vid? Obsessed with bombs and seeing blood… with drawing guns with shooting guns his father’s guns?? This killer was not “ getting back” at anyone. He enjoyed killing!! PERIOD!
@@ICARE9449 I agree with you totally! However, I believe the calculated manner in which he roped them into his psychotic killing spree was intentional, deliberate and payback! We absolutely agree that he enjoyed killing.....no disagreement with this fact - none at all!
Guilty of what? Because the charges they're facing are to crimes they didn't commit.. you're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. And these parents are being held to a standard no other school shooters parents have even been held to. Not even Randy Stars parents went to jail?! And he literally posted videos saying this is my plan... This country should be ashamed of themselves. They have no ties because the entire country and system turned on them. They have no jobs because the state threw them in jail. They are losing their house to stay out of jail on charges they didn't even do. And I hope they get a jury who makes sure they're looking at facts. And laws. Not opinions. Yes the people who lost their life is horrible but why should Ethans actions be able to take two more people's lives . ?!
His only friend moved away. He stopped doing his homework. He was troubled in school and in text messages. Suicide concerns, violence concerns, they bought him a gun. All of that combined with the stress over the last two years of the whole pandemic. Imagine the only two people actively in your life don't even care about you. Those parents did NOTHING. He is still responsible for his actions, but my God - so much could have been different ☹
The school should be liable as well!!.. They are required to contact law enforcement! They didn't, they let him stay at school. Instead they failed every student in that school. I know the school's my kids go to if you even mention the word gun the cops get called in. It is investigated. And that should have been done here. CPS should have been called on the parent as soon as they declined their child to go home. Regardless cop should have been called in from the very gate
I feel for Ethan, I am shocked to say that and mean NO disrespect to those who suffered...yet, Ethan really tried to get help, then he just lean into his parents neglect. Sad.
I don’t know how he tried to get help all had to do was say something to the teacher maybe to the police resource officer at school that he had a gun and he wanted to shoot the school up that would’ve been trying to get help if his parents were not willing to help him.
@@ChillingWithMel22 You fail to realize that when someone is mentally unstable as in this situation, often more times than not they won't tell anyone that they believe they are sick in the head for several reasons. First, they might not know for sure that they are (due to the actual mental state they are in), OR it is an embarassing or self debasing act to admit that you think you are mentally sick.
I’m with you! This whole situation is so sad. Ethan needed love. He’s where he needs to be but I hope he’s getting some help. Please if your not able to love a child with your whole being. Don’t have kids.
He tortured animals, filmed it, and kept trophies. You can't learn empathy, you either have it or don't. This kid will spend the rest of his life in the safest place for everybody, including himself. Therapy only teaches psychopaths to be better at disguising their tendencies, it rarely makes them safer. The chances are those 4 victims gave their lives now to prevent god only knows how many victims from a serial killer in the future.
I think Jennifer was asking James if he was ok because she pointed at him and made an OK hand sign. You notice right after someone turned off James camera so they couldn't communicate anymore.
In a way I’m starting to feel bad for Ethan. Of course he should face the max consequences. But he threw every red flag possible up. Even after he threw his life away they still focused on themselves. There is nothing Ethan could have said or done to make his parents get help.
She was too busy thinking about her job. That makes it impossible to teach love in the family. This problem is across our country. I'd like to know if his parents were raised in a daycare center.
this is so true, I think they should be charged with about the same as him because they could have stopped all of it if they would have actually taken his mental health seriously.
Terrible parents, yes, but that's not murder. The counselor should have forced parents to take child for an immediate psych eval and not allowed them back onto school property until cleared. This happens in michigan all the time. This kid cried out repeatedly, and even with terrible parents, we have systems in place here to still protect the kids. The fault of the parents for the kid to ending up in that messed up, but fault of the counselor for recognizing it and not protecting the other children, and frankly ethan as well. This could have been avoided.
If parents refuse to take, an ambulance is called for transport to a hospital for psych eval and appropriate level of care. Suicidal ideation is grounds for immediate removal and protective confinement. I was the macomb county child mental health assessor for years. This happens regularly because it saves lives. Counselor dropped the ball :(
@@bridget5180 Okay manslaughter. Wrong word used, but not at all the point of my comment at all. I have never understood the grammar police thing. My comment is understandable, why not read it and reply to that? I am genuinely curious.
The defense attorney talking about how Ethan's parents home address was on the Internet within 24 hours of the shooting. Oh bs, it was on the Internet way before that since it was easily accessible on all of those free background sites.
I worked for carvana for a few months in their debt collection department and it’s scary the info you can find online with just a phone number! Those were public sites we used too.
@katrina g I agree with you!! Why did they get away with gesturing at all?? The second they violated the judges orders ( at their arraignment. ), the judge ordered “ that the two defendants may not communicate with each other while incarcerated.” Yet they blatantly did multiple times!! The second they started the “ guard” next to each one, should have darkened the room and removed them from the hearing. They could watch it from a different room.! I wish the judge saw them!! AND YOU ARE RIGHT ALSO ABOUT “ it pisses you off…” It made me furious to see her hands frantically and with a lot of anger gesture him!! It should have been stopped!! Just as in the first hearing , the husband was talking to her. HOW DARE HE?? WHY DIDN’T THE JUDGE “ fine” them right then?? Maybe They would have not tried again today!!?? I want to speak out to tell the judge what they are doing!!
