As promised, here is a full install of aftermarket bucket seats in the "Mafrauder" 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis. I adapt factory seat rails to aftermarket Tanaka bucket seats. This process would be very similar for most every Panther Platform car, MGM, Ford Crown Victoria, Lincoln Town Car, and Mercury Marauder.

Awesome video man! Sounds pretty straight forward tbh just looks time consuming! I was expecting way more work 😅

It's a lot more work if your car lived in the rust belt! Since your seats have been out before I think you'll be fine.

What wires did you use from the harness

I don't remember wire colors, but I traced the wires, and anything to do with the seat rail itself (front/back/tilt) I kept, and anything for the seat back (recline) I snipped.

The link in the description is probably dead now, go to eBay and search Tanaka Seats.

Are those seat significantly lighter than the stock seats?
@Socoolds455

I wouldn't say significant, but definitely noticeable. On the driver side there is a lot of weight in the seat rail itself.

Nice job! If you're gonna do it, this is the way. What are you going to do with all that extra space between the seats?

Thanks! The fire extinguisher will get a proper mount between the seats, and now there's ample room for that 5 speed shifter 😉

So you did it on modified rails not factory.

Modified factory rails, yes. The idea was to keep as many power functions as possible. The factory seat back integrates with the rails so it's impossible not to modify them.
