Bumped into your videos about a week ago while researching e-scooters and I’m glad I did. These are some of the most relaxing videos I’ve seen yet. I don’t know you, but it almost feels like I’m taking an afternoon ride with a friend and clearing the day’s stress away. Thank you for posting these rides. They’re awesome. Definitely subscribed

Hey Nickel1911, thanks for watching the video and welcome to the channel. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos and I appreciate your kind words! That's exactly what I was going for when I came up with the concept for the videos. I wanted to showcase the city by riding through it but I wanted the video style to contrast everyone was seeing lol. I knew it was going to appear really aggressive to the rest of the world, but I figured my personality and style would take the edge off that aggressive ride! Were you looking into getting your first e scooter?
@Nickel1911
@Nickel1911 Год назад
@@eyebahnrides totally doesn’t seem like your riding style is too aggressive to me. Seems more like you’re trying to get from point A to point B as quickly and efficiently as possible while being as safe as possible. Sometimes, especially in the city, being assertive is the appropriate method to use to achieve those goals. Continued safe commutes to you! I’ve just recently started eyeing my first e-scooter, yes. Nothing serious yet, just looking at options and gathering as much knowledge as I can on PEVs. We’ll see where this rabbit hole leads me. Lol
@eyebahnrides
@eyebahnrides Год назад
@@Nickel1911 Glad you understand! I always explain to people that you have to both assertive and respectful while riding in NYC. It's much safer because you have to match what's going on around you. Good luck with the research! It's definitely a rabbit hole that you'll end up going down lol. To give you an idea, I went from a Xiaomi to a ninebot to a mantis 10 to a nami burn e in a matter of 3.5 months 😆. My only advice is find the one that best suits your use case and buy one level above it lol. It'll save you time and money.
@Nickel1911

@@eyebahnrides your advice is MUCH appreciated! So far the Nami Burn E and the Klima are at the top of my list based on your reviews and because of their waterproof capabilities. But researching is half the fun for me so I’ll continue to see where this rabbit hole leads me. Lol. Thank you again for your awesome videos and for your advice!

Hey I don't usually comment on videos in general. I ride a Super73 R Brooklyn for my commute- but I actually live in Bentonville AR (a relatively large metro area in the Ozark Mountains.) I kinda noticed you seemed really sad as you were riding the bridge. I used to go to school and then worked in NYC for a bit, and I'll be honest it was one of most draining and dark points of my life. I'm not sure how you feel about the city, and all love if you're digging it- but I will say that once I left things really got a lot better. The pace, the people, things just sort of leveled out finally. I'm not saying move to Northwest Arkansas, but I will say that sometimes taking risks and shaking things up is exactly what we need to save ourselves. Sorry for the unsolicited advice, and if I'm way off please disregard it. Really enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing.
@eyebahnrides
@eyebahnrides Год назад
Hi Pizza Rat, thanks for watching the video and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment! I appreciate ya. I wouldn't say it's sadness, it's more like low energy and tiredness after a long day at work. I'm in a senior sales role and as an introvert, it's absolutely draining doing calls/ sales meetings for 9-10 hours lol. Interestingly enough, I've been having conversations with my wife about potentially moving to a quieter part of town because we don't really take advantage of most of the benefits of living in NYC to be spending this much to live here. We won't be able to move far because my work is in midtown Manhattan, but it'll be nice to have a home in NJ or Staten Island. But who knows. I've moved out of NYC 2x in my life and I always return lol. I moved down to Northern VA and moved up to CT, only to return after a year. I guess you could say I'm a NYer to the core lol.

Hey Steven, thanks for watching the video and welcome to the channel. Glad to see Australia representing in the comments section! I agree that the Nami & Super73 combo is an amazing 1-2 punch. I got a chance to ride a Zooz Bike 1100 recently and I must say, I think I had way more fun on it than the s73! I had an EUC and it was amazing and I'm currently looking into getting an eskate aswell so I'm on the same boat as you lol.. Thanks! I wanted to make sure that my videos showcased the beauty of navigating NYC on alternative transportation. It's way more doable than people think! @eyebahnrides Год назад
@@Steven-qm1xo Yup, the eskate will be fun and the portability will be amazing, the only problem is they're illegal in NYC. hahaha ya'll are definitely rebels. Its pretty much the same here in NYC. We're not supposed to go faster than 48kph and the scooters can't exceed 45kg (30mph/ 100lbs)! Every time law enforcement asks me about it I just say, "its like a sports car officer. Just because it can go 200mph doesn't mean we're going that fast on the streets. " They tend to agree with me and it turns into amazement once they jump on the scooter and feel the suspension lol. The traffic can be pretty dense here in NYC as well. This video was an exception because it's a holiday and I'm one of the only people that have to go into the office that day! Also, I miss most of the heavy with my work schedule because I get out after "rush hour" which is from 4:00pm-6:00 pm. As for my morning rides, I try to leave before or after rush hour! However, you'll see that even the alternative bike lanes will get overwhelmed real soon. Summer is just starting and that means more and more people will be on the streets!

Thank you for the suggestion, it's much appreciated. Interestingly, I tried that on the channel before and the subscribers vetoed it out because it's strangely quiet with just the hum of the electric motor. In the future, I do want to add a video like that type of video to the channel because I enjoy watching the same videos that you're talking about lol! It does require a second a multiple hd mic set up that goes into a central receiver/ recorder (one by the motor to capture the sound and one by the helmet to capture ambient sound), and that's something that I still have to look into.

I have a heavy duty chain and lock combination that I've only used handful of times in the 2 years I've had it lol! If you are getting a nice ebike for when you move to NYC, my two piecs of advice would be to ALWAYS keep it in your sightline when you chain it up and don't skimp out on cheap chain/locks.

Having it in the helmet dramatically reduces the wind noise while allowing enough to come through as "ambient noise". I used to have it on my collar or on my chin strap but I opted for inside the helmet. I would say, play around with it and see which of those will work best for you. Hi Ivan, was wondering what makes you choose to commute on the Super 73 vs your Nami on a given day? Thanks! :)
@eyebahnrides
@eyebahnrides 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching this video as well Nic! Hmmm... great question. It really depends on how chill I want to be or if I want to sit. Riding a beast scooter like the Nami Burn E is fun but can be quite taxing as well. All the weight shifting, all the squatting, and the standing is really physically demanding. It's also quite mentally demanding because you can't just chill when you're on the Nami. A lapse in concentration can lead to a really terrible accident when you're on a high performance stand up scooter. The S73 is much more chill and comfortable ride. I can take my time and enjoy the scenery a bit more all while sitting. To sum it up, I ride the s73 when I want to cruise and don't really want to work too hard lol. Btw, I maintain full awareness of what's going on around me regardless of what I'm riding. There are so many things trying to kill you in NYC that we don't really have the luxury of "zoning out". I just wanted to clarify that before someone says "but Ivan you have to concentrate all the time..." because of my concentration comment lol I hope this answers your question!
@NicStride
@NicStride 11 месяцев назад
@@eyebahnrides That totally makes sense! I gotta say, I complain about dumb tourists not knowing how to ride and stuff where I live quite often, but honestly, I don't envy your commuting conditions! I've had one close call with a car over the course of the summer (actually my fault, zoned out at the wrong moment) and you seem to have several every day. I think in this video you saw a car driving the wrong direction down a one way street and got over it within 30 seconds. I would've flipped out! Haha 😂

I have a somewhat similar commute. I know you are going to Queens so that is a factor but how would you rate the respective 3 main lower east Manhattan bridges as both an ebike and escooter user? I don't often use my Phantom for commuting over my Onyx into the city but it seems you prefer your Nami to the Super73 for daily rising? I'm kinda trending the opposite where the scooter stays within the borough and the bike is for going between. Interested in your opinion! Thanks
@eyebahnrides
@eyebahnrides Год назад
Hey Donovan, thanks for watching the video. In my opinion I would rate Williamsburg as the best, Brooklyn as ok, and Manhattan as the worst. Despite being congested, I like that the Williamsburg Bridge is pretty "spacious" and smooth. Brooklyn and Manhattan are pretty narrow but Manhattan just has worse design and has much more "unaware pedestrians" that won't move out of the way. I prefer using the scooter just because it's easier to find space in the bike room at work and I get less heat for it from the residents in my building. I actually enjoy both a lot for all kinds of riding situations (the range is about 60 miles + on both depending on how I'm riding)! The scooter is crazy fun because its exhilarating to ride something with that kind of power. The Super73 is fun because it's chill and extremely comfortable cruiser. I also don't ride the bike on wet roads because it's IP rating isn't solid like the Nami. So at this moment the Nami gets more time than the S73. That makes sense that you ride the Onyx more than the Phantom for the longer interboro rides. It can keep you off the bike path, it has the power to keep up with traffic/ avoid crazy situations, and I assume your range is also better! Which bike do you have?
@Tipchex

Hi James, thanks for watching the video and welcome to the channel. There's definitely a faster way home. If I take my usual route its only 16 minutes and the route is quite boring lol. @eyebahnrides Год назад
Hey Riley, thank you for watching the video and welcome to the channel! I 100% agree with you. A PEV that goes up to 35mph with a robust build is the ideal way of getting around the city. The infrastructure is getting better so it's getting easier and easier to get around. The only problem I'm seeing is, it's already fairly congested on the actual "bike paths" and we're only 3 years into the legalization of micromobility. Thats kind of why I tend to ride with the cars. That also makes sense why you have the Onyx. I've said it in my Nami video that the 60mph and brutal torque is overkill for NYC but would be amazing if you lived in an area with highspeed roads outside of the city. @@RyeJG that makes sense. Some of those drivers are insane. Its like just leave us alone and go about your day lol, we're just trying to get to our destination in one piece. In my opinion, the worst are the pick up truck guys and, sadly, the motorcycle guys. In my area, they will literally harass you and try to cut you off just to prove a point. One of my buddies got kicked off his EUC by a guy riding a Harley with his group and we were going about 30mph in the bike lane. That's good news they're respecting the Onyx! It's probably because it doesn't look "bicycle like". Anyways, safe riding!

Hey Mitch, thanks for watching this video and welcome back! I believe I left Manhattan around 5:15pm so that means it was around 5:45pm. Lol You're absolutely right, Mcguiness and Greenpoint is always a mess. It was probably only this clear because I was one of the only people going to and from the office during the holiday!

@@rmitchy1189 yea, I only notice how great our streets are and how nice the scenery is when the streets are empty like that. Otherwise, it's always a headache lol. Around that time, Greenpoint is crazy with all those trucks either flying around or blocking traffic! Thanks man, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. Hopefully, my work schedule will open up in the future where I can plan a group ride myself. I'm just joining the group rides that the people I know are planning. The next one I'm going to is Sunday in Staten Island with the Richmond Riders crew. Check out their IG if you're interested in going! It's probably going to be a pretty fast right knowing them lol.

How much time did you cut off the travel time by taking the E-bike over a car?? If you don’t mind just curious tbh
@d.henderson1347
@d.henderson1347 Год назад
From just putting the route in the maps comparing that time to your video time it’s only around 5mins but with the traffic and everything you would know that the extra 10-15mins might’ve been shaved off by riding the e-bike over commuting with a car

Hey D. Henderson, thanks for watching the video! Hmmm... here's the best way I can put it. It took me 45 minutes to cover this 11mile "joy ride". That's the minimum amount of time I need to drive the direct route home (not including time needed to find parking). It takes about that same amount of time to take the subway on the day's its running well. If I took the direct route home, it's only 16-20 minutes depending on how aggressive I'm being on the roads lol. Yeaaa the whole VeeSette or VuhSette thing is like Toh Mae Toe and Toe May Toe lol. I guess there's no wrong pronunciation. I hope they have a stand at the next electric expo because I'd like to ask someone from the company for clarification lol.

@@eyebahnrides Awesome! That's alright, I was wondering about shifting into the realm of e-scooters for commuting to my office based job in financial services. General consensus seems to be that scooters are not for 'desk based' professionals, whereas I think these are great options for short daily commutes and saving money. Glad to see that it is not uncommon in this world.
@eyebahnrides
@eyebahnrides Год назад
@@someguy909 it’s pretty uncommon in my office but it’s a lot of fun lol. I’d rather take my scooter of my s73 to work than take the subway. On some days I already dress up in my suit and just do my hair in the bathroom lol. Since my rides are quite large I can’t bring them to my work space so I leave it in the building’s bike room.

You need ND filters
@eyebahnrides
@eyebahnrides Год назад
Thanks for watching the video Eddie and welcome to the channel, I appreciate the recommendation! I've been looking for ND filters for the X3 since I've owned it and a few content creators have submitted a request for them with Insta360. I'm hoping they come up with a solution for the curved lenses of X3 because they have one for the OneRS. I would switch back to the RS as my POV camera just for that but I prefer the sound quality and overall video quality I get from the X3. So for now I live with the blown out sky lol.
