great video and pretty informative, how long it takes in first stage for silver recovery when you react with nitric? I mean for the amount you use that was below 200g I guess. also how long you heat on formic acid solution?

Dear friend you have a lot of experience in minerals what acid can be used to dissolve palladium if formic acid is not available or can be used HCL (Hydrochloric acid )
@qwethengoldrecovery
@qwethengoldrecovery 7 месяцев назад
it can also be recovered with dimethyl glyoxime or chlorine gas if dissolved in nitric acid, but I don't recommend either of these, DMG stinks, chlorine gas is tricky, safety comes first!

Hi ! I´ve been looking at Your videos and repeating step by step ! For the silver it works just fine. Beautiful ! But for the Palladium recovery I just get "to much". The "green water" separates nicely but then I have this "grey cream" left which must be "to much". When I boil it down I get a fix mass which easily can be smashed down into dust (grey with some brown in it). And it must be to much (a lot more than 2-3g of 100g initial components). What am I doing wrong ?
@qwethengoldrecovery
@qwethengoldrecovery 2 года назад
Did you completely remove the silver from the solution? I remember if silver remains in the solution, this part of the process also recovers the silver, so more "dust" is generated. One of my tips would be. It is possible that the solution has become too saturated, try diluting it with a little water.
@lars5065
@lars5065 2 года назад
@@qwethengoldrecovery Many thanks for your reply. I think the silver is gone. It was quite easy to separate (succesfully recovered - thanks) but I believe you are bit right. I took some of the powder and added nitric acid to it. The powder slowly dissolved in the acid turning it orange/brown (correct for Palladium if I understand it right). But...there where some black/brown pieces left on the bottom. I believe that is badly filtered ceramics. Also some white stuff...small pieces that fell apart after a while in the acid but not dissolved -laying like salt on the bottom together with the ceramics). What can that be ? So...filter the soup should do it. For the future...filter better before final boiling... What do you think ?

@lars5065
@lars5065 2 года назад
@@qwethengoldrecovery A bit interesting...Over night the solution changed color to green (from orange/brown). This must mean that there were some nickle left in the "crap". Even the ceramic slowly dissolve. Still I believe we are on the right path. Just have to filter better/be more careful earlier in the process. Many thanks for your videos part 1 and 2. They make sence. Other videos, by others, handling the same process do not...

@@qwethengoldrecovery Hello again ! I re-tested som extracted materiel by pouring some nitric acid in it. It separates just beautiful. Can I send You a picture/e-mail ?
