Brings a tear to my eye: the last time I saw and rode on this magnificent little train was as a kid, 52 years ago, with my long-departed dear mum and dad, when holidaying at All Saints Road guest house in Scarborough.

I really enjoyed watching this video. It brings back so many happy memories of holidays with my Mum and Dad in the 70s and 80s...Especially the tooting of the horn, I used to love waving to everyone from the train. Scalby Mills was very different then before the Sealife Centre was built. There was a massive Astroglide where the car park is. First stop was always the pub which is no longer there...Always a shandy and Tudor cheese and onion crisps for me. My Dad passed away in 2013 his ashes were scattered at Scarborough and I lost my Mum last September so watching your videos especially of Scarborough and Blackpool is helping me relive the happy times 😊

A great POV Darren, no commentary needed , I was impressed by the trackside condition, so well kept, beautifully manicured greenery, I too was intrigued by the obscuring of the white KIA numberplate ( I presume that's your car ? ) and the blurring of the individual stood by the by carriage at Scalby Mills.

The start of the train ride is so green and lush and then you see the ocean, nice. Along the way in both directions there were round white signs with a black "W" on them to show where the whistle was to be sounded? What a fun place to spend a day.....

Now that brought back many memories..... the tunnel always scared me, and the water flume dripped on you as you passed, and I am sure there was a turning circle at Scalby MIlls, not a turntable....

I was expecting a steam hauled train after seeing the thumb nail. Not a diesel powered replica locomotive shame, Will definitely give this a go next time we are in Scarborough as I didn't know it was there. Thanks for the video

Have they got a proper steam loco at this railway or have I dreamt it? I was thinking they could exchange locos occasionally with the Ratty, but I believe the NBR is bigger. It’s a two foot gauge and the Ratty is 15”.

Good video, but a steam loco should be steam powered not sound like a bus! It would also be great if the line was extended. It’s rather short I think. Why fog odd bits out? That makes no sense.

I seem to remember that the engines in the late 1950's ,early 1960s were steam powered ,made by Basset Lowke.I stayed as a kid at Scalby Mills ,Colleys Cosy Camp which became Scarborough Holiday Cha lets.I bought a Sooty glove puppet,which I still have,I loaned it for a while to the Sooty Museum in Yorkshire,many years ago. .I also remember the ship battles in Peasholm Park
