One thing I would like to see more of from these companies selling armor is more Sengoku Period accurate kote where they attach with toggles rather than tie on the opposite side of the body.
The haidate is mounted on the box by putting the straps down in the box with the lid on. The kot when mounted is mounted under the dou. The round obi is only for display.
@@David-lu4gq it was Kasai Kachi shop.samurai-armor.com/product/kasai-kachi-samurai-armor/?v=7516fd43adaa - if I had to do it over again, I would go with the Gashira - mid level armor - better quality and comes with the storage box. I tried to save a few hundred bucks, but in retrospect, I should'nt have been so cheap. Otherwise good quality in any case.
+Erick R I know I'm not Anthony but I'd imagine he does not cause he is more into sword being a tool for killing than something as for price new (non antique ) tamahagane katana made in Japan would cost from some 12 to 21 thousand of US dollars in my experience, could get same tamahagane sword out of Japan for 7-10 thousand
Erick R Yes, no problem, from what I've heard they are limited to making certain number of swords from government so they have to put certain price on it so it pays of to them.
Devoti I actually use handmade sword for cutting, not a Japanese one though, I paid daisho about 1200 US dollars, personally I don't think paying 2 times more just because it's made in Japan when you can get exactly same for lesser price, except if you are doing REALLY well, like in 7 digit numbers, than I guess they don't care.
Devoti NO, if it's made the same way and from same material it is going to handle the same way ( I tried both) and shape and dimension varied between clans and even between each person back then anyway.
