I searched this video up to see how devastating colon cancer can be, and when I heard that it produced vitamins, I instantly knew how important it is to have this organ, R.I.P Chadwick Boseman
It was surprising to know that bacteria could convert substances into vitamins B and K. It is also very helpful to watch the video as a reminder of a structure of the colon.
Really enjoyed all the information included in this video! Discussed processes and functions related to each region of the colon in an easy to follow manner.
This really helped me to understand the function of the colon. It is really easy for me to get the functions of the GI organs confused, but now I have this video to look back on.
Clear and clean presentation. Simplified well for students to understand and absorb easily, with great summarization of the functions of the colon. Thank you
The visualization of the colon with a diagram was a great way to show us how it functions. I like how simple your videos are because there is limited writing but it's easy to follow along.
I never knew how many functions that the colon had. This video was great and I loved how you broke down each part into an easy to understand way. -Jason Kane
Always love the visual aspect of these videos. It helps a lot when it comes to simplifying the concept. I liked how you went into detail of the different types of vitamins.
I like that you made separate videos for important parts of the digestive system. I feel like we didn’t go very in depth with the digestive system in class. This video showed that there is so much more happening in just the large intestine than just absorbing water and making fecal matter
Very nice use of the visual in the video. The explanation of what the bacteria actually do for our bodies was very helpful. Also differentiating between what is absorbed helped clear any confusion with the absorption process of the small intestine. -Dean
This definitely gave me a much better understanding of the digestive system. Thank you for breaking this down into and going step by step through digestion.
This video is very helpful and understandable. Visual aspect is very well done and the time frame of explain the concept of function of colon is enough for it to be clear and understandable. Another thing is that i like how you incorporate stories for understanding of the subject.
Thank you for clarifying the cecum and appendix, I would get those two structures confused, but now that I saw them in a drawing, I won't confuse them anymore. Great job with all your videos, they are all very organized, and each structure and function is well explained.
This video gave a really good summary about the colon as it was a concept that we only briefly discusses, so this helped me to understand the basics of its function a little better.
This video was extremely helpful and it even helped me with some of the questions on my TEAS! It’s important to remember what a big role the colon has. Also, thank you for describing the different vitamins involved!
I never realized that the appendix was so small, I had heard it was but the diagram helped to see how it looks compared to the colon. I liked how you started off by describing the diagram and what parts are connected to what, then moved on to the broad functions (segmentation, peristalsis), and moved your way to what the colon absorbs (water and certain ions). It was easy to follow along through the processes of the colon. I would have liked to learn of maybe one or two diseases or infections that can occur in the colon and why it occurs just to understand more about the colon.
This was very helpful since this was briefly talked about in class and it was to the point . I like all the stories that you tell in class but sometimes it can away from the lecture because more time is spent talking about a story than really any lecture material. For example today, we spent most of the class talking about accutane and how it can cause crohns disease but didn't talk about crohns disease any further. I wish we could've had more information about crohns disease such as symptoms and a more in depth explanation. Not to say the stories are a waste (because they aren't) but sometimes there is a need for more information,
I was never thoroughly explained on how the functions of the color worked. The topic was just brushed on but I had no idea all these metabolic functions were occurring. Great job lecturing the process.
This video was very informative and straightforward. I felt like the colon was not talked about too much in class so this video emphasized on the important things about the colon. The drawing was also helpful for me to put an image to each part you were taking about.
Thank you for making a video on this concept because you expanded on this more than you were able to in class and it really helped me understand this concept!
Great video. I thought it was interesting how you talk about the function of E.coli and how the bacteria helps convert metabolites into vitamins. I usually hear in the news about how certain strains of E.coli are infectious and need to be avoided; so it is good to know why E.coli is considered a good bacteria, especially in our colon.
Before this video I didn't know much about the colon and kind of disregarded it. However, now I know more about what helps will digestion and absorption. I also liked how you talked about Vitamin B and Vitamin K
I’m a visual learner so this picture was very helpful when you were explaining each part of the colon. It also helped that you said the color you used in the drawing rather than just pointing to it.
This video had a good visual representation of the colon. By having the picture up as you explained it really made it easy to understand and take notes on. I didn't really have a full understanding about the function for the colon since we didn't spend a lot of time on it during class, but this video really helped me fully understand it.
Thanks for confirming that colon and large intestines are the same. A lot to take in just 5 minutes. I understand more about my food breakdown than before. It's interesting that veggies can be a problem for some people due to over excessive production of vitamin K and it leads to blood clotting. I heard some people take Advil to help with this. Not sure if it is a good thing, but now I know.
This video was helpful in understand what happens in the colon. I feel like in my education history. I've learned about many parts of the small and large intestine, but I've never learned anything about the colon and its functions.
Great Video. Love the presentation idea on glass so you can face the audience but a bit tricky writing backwards if the subject is more complicated 🤔 👍👍👍 Have subscribed.
This was a really helpful explanation of the colon, since we didn't really go over it in class. It was also very helpful that you explained the functions and what is absorbed.
This helped me learn quickly the major functions and components of the colon. I do think the information sticks more in your videos where you write out the major words though! For example, segmentation or perastalisis in this one.
Since there is water absorption happening in the large intestine what can make the large intestine absorb more water than normal and later forming constipation?
pretty interesting to know that a lot of the bacteria in our colon is e.coli, also that no nutrients are absorbed, the small intestine takes care of that function.
I had no idea that the bacteria converted metabolites into vitamins. From class, I had just assumed that the colon absorbed water with the exception of few nutrients and formed stool. The very helpful video though, your explanation is very clear and it is easy to understand.
the drawing of the colon was the list on the side was helpful, but i think it would have been helpful to add to the illustration of the colon during the video like labeling and using arrows to represent absorption and defecation
