You are such a fantastic teacher. I am new to all of this and I tried taking some skillshare courses and they had me consistently pausing in frustration because things weren't clearly explained. This is incredibly precise and wonderful for the non tech-savvy folks. Thank you thank you THANK YOU so much for what you do.

I'm new into 3D printing but have used Blender (not regularly) for a while - put this video on "just in case I'd missed something". Oh man - love it - so many tips & shortcuts you just can't get when you search "intro to Blender". Well done. Won't be long and I'll be signing up to your academy course. Let me get this course finished first...

In Mint 20.2 XFCE use the mint menu to search for 'Window Manager Tweaks', under the 'Accessibility' tab, right at the top there's a dropdown called 'Key used to grab and move windows:'. I changed it to 'none' to get things working for me. XFCE is a little different.

@@Keep-Making Slight critique my dude, Where possible, could you plz first show us how to access things manually from the menus, before employing HotKeys? Anyone like me, who is learning more then one app at a time (in my case, FreeCAD) can attest that having to memorize HotKeys, as well as endeavor to learn fundamentals in Blender actually adds a layer of complication for the new user. As we gain familiarity, we can then gradually introduce productivity, beginning with the most common commands and going forward. Cheers,

Just a little detail to add regarding your great comment @7:11, for the community. Not only there is an unselected vertex, but there are also unselected edges and faces as well. You can verify that by yourself at the bottom right corner of the Blender app where it tells you: "Verts: 7/8 ; Edges: 9/12 ; Faces: 3/6". This might be a small detail but I really wanted to highlight this for the community. Hope it helps you guys ! 😃

hmmmm interesting. Maker sure you are in the circle select mode using the shortcut C. As there are two circle selects one that is the mode and one that is just a circle. I know it's all very confusing it's silly really. Let me know how that goes for you.

First of all these tutorials are amazing and really helped me alot, just a beginner yet. But now i have a little big problem. In edit mode I can't change between vertex, edge and face selection with 1, 2, 3 (I have a laptop with numpad) and ctrl+tab doesn't work too, it just turns on and off the snap icon. Version is the 2.91.2 if it matters. I don't know how to fix it.
@Keep-Making
@Keep-Making 3 года назад
Hey there tadeu, for now i would say that your best bet is to get a cheap keyboard or up on the top left in edit more you can change between vertex, edge and face selection with your mouse.

I had the same issue, you can easily generate this sphere yourself, open a new file, delete the cube and while in Edit Mode go to Add - UV-Sphere, it generates the same sphere Jonathan is using. Or Add - Mesh - UV Sphere in Object Mode.

Pressing ALT while selecting did nothing at all. I could select an edge OK but neither Shift-Alt nor Alt did anything when I left clicked. I thought I must be missing something but looking at the official documentation it was in agreement with you. After further research I found that in preferences emulate 3 button mouse had been selected (not by me) and switching this off solved the problem.

What is the keyword "precision" for? Did you mean "basic" modeling?I thought it would be on how to use precise measuring for architecture or mechanical models. Maybe it's only me but it was misleading.

Hey Le Cinq as Ευάγγελος Γκίκας mentioned this is the beginning of a full course. Starting for square 1 and doing all the way to full precision modeling like you have described. If you already know blender, your video has not really been created yet but they will be up with time. If you want something ells to watch in the time being there is my old course that you can go to the end of or head over to Blender Precision Modeling in action playlist. I hope that helps. DO check back in the future as there will many more advanced video in a few weeks time.
