Swiatek a little before 1 minute mark, looks like the invisible ninja struck right after her tweener. 😂 It would be funny to have one of those animated ninja videos tripping and knocking over tennis players as long as the fall wasn’t serious. I don’t think making a joke of the falls where someone was injured is a nice thing.

Off the top of my head: Chris Evert slipping on Center Court playing 14 year old Tracy Austin at Wimbledon in 1977 (never saw her slip again); and the nasty fall Morariu took at Wimbledon a few years ago. The Pierce injury is just too awful to mention; there is also the 1978 Wimbledon semi when Goolagong Cawley shrieks in pain against Navratilova, but that was not a fall but reinjuring her ankle.

Without watching the video; To this day I still have nightmares of the bone chilling screams of Mary Pierce's fall/injury that ended her career. Not the biggest fan, but still the most memorable one for me besides the Mattek-Sands one

Minuto 1:10 A partir de ese golpe (y lo tengo bien estudiado con estadisticas), Konta ya no volvio a ser la misma. Su tenis desmejoro. La cabeza rebotando en el craneo tiene consecuencias inesperadas e inexplicables. Fue exactamente lo que tambien le paso a Bouchard con su caida en el baño en el US Open del 2015. Se puede decir para el caso de Konta y Bouchard, que sus carreras se truncaron.

It happened to me (not in pro tennis of course) when I was hit by a truck while cycling and went off the side of a narrow road in the hills. The fall knocked me out and the concussion (TBI) it caused has affected ever since - migraine headaches, nausea, vertigo, and other neurological problems. Not fun or funny!

For female players the dresses are bad as it gives offensive looks when they fall and they too are not that comfortable but somehow manage . I feel it should change to make them comfortable

I must say the grass at Wimbleton has gotten absolutely atrocious. It’s so slippery and so short that there it’s basically dirst at either end a couple of days into the fortnight. Eastbourne and Berlin(?) have so much healthier grass. Yes it slows the ball down, but watching THE premier tournament in tennis sporting ugly yellow, patchy grass kinda ruins the posh air of the whole thing. That and the £12 Pimms cups.

I’d love that but nah. She’s overachieving like crazy to be at #5. She’s undersized, underpowered… but I really like and admire her. If she wins a biggie it will be because the path was cleared of Sabalenka, Rybakina, Swiatek, (Osaka?). She would need to play someone like Gauff, Ons, Penko, Kasatkina - someone she can actually rally with. Just my opinion.

Wrong time stamp, but she kept rolling cuz she was in pain. Looks like a super jarring impact to the back of the head and upper back. She was just rolling in pain for a little before she was able to compose herself.

Serious injury, almost certainly a concussion. Soon they’ll be testing players (probably) and rule them out for the match, like the NFL does. Sad for the fans unfortunately, but good for the players’ health, especially long term.

So many women squat to hit the shot. Most of the time they didn't fall, just squating down. The men never do that. This is ridiculous that you have to be in such position to take the swing. But they do it routinely. I would like to understand why. Is it something with female body?

No,it’s because the ball often comes in low, many times dropping. The taller guys can’t get that low (Michael Chang used to though), so they kinda golf it and whip their wrists to put topspin on it, OR they slice. Women in general have proportionately great leg strength and can squat to put a regular swing on lower balls. Of course it could involve the coaches teaching them that as well…that part I don’t know. I just know most women athletes have much greater leg strength than upper body, compared to men men. Why not use it, I guess?
