Doug Aldrich used a PQ3 for killer tone. On the Whitesnake Live Still of the Night DVD, that opening riff to "Burn" when its just him playing is pure PQ3 boosting the upper mids into his Suhr Modded Marshall. Killer tone!!!

I ran my ADA MP-1 like an overdrive. I had it in my NS-2 then into a clean Tubeworks Realtube II preamp. My Rocktron Replifex and Intellifex were in the fx loop of the T.W. R.T. II. Because it as stereo. I had the Rocktron Replifex Parametric EQ on to refine the ADA MP-1. Plus, I was getting a bit of the EQ of the T.W .R.T. II. I loved that setup. Used it for a very long time. This EQ pedal made me think of that. It is great idea to have a pedal as powerful as that Furman Parametric EQ. Very useful tool. Dig the 7 string. Always love seeing the ADA MP-1 used.

I remember back in the day that everyone wanted a PQ3, and by those day's prices they weren't cheap then either. Nice to see a pedal version of this considering the prices and lack of certain ease with the old ones. Fantastic tones and killer playing as always, Michael!

Stryper's Mike Sweet and Oz Fox used it as well. Their entire tone was, and still is, based on the PQ3. I use my PQ3 with a clean Marshall JCM800 100watt head, an analog DigiTech rack delay, and a rack Hush 2C

I’m really interested to hear your thoughts on how this would work/interact with the BBE sonic stomp. I use the stomp in the loop so I would probably use this in the front end for live use.

Great video Michael, that pedal sounds killer! 🤘 That Furman doesn't seem right though, with the level on 10 it should be absolutely hammering the front end.. Did you use the low level input/output on the Furman? The high level in/outs cut the gain massively, almost sounds like that happening here..

Any chance you can stack this up against the Empress ParaEQ MKII Deluxe? The main advantage of the Empress is s also having separate low shelf, high shelf, high-pass filter, and low-pass filter... But can it do the magic?!

I still have my PQ 4 that i used in my guitar rig back in the day. Can't bring myself to part with it, but i just checked the used prices on them after watching this video.... lol may have to consider letting it go now! And on a side note, what desk is that?

I have a PQ3 I my recording rack. Use it as high-cut for direct recording out of pedals. Really tames the sizzle in a very tunable way. You might want to hang onto yours. There's a reason people want them.

I like what the original does though, less beefy but tighter which is what I hear on those older Ratt albums and of course with Nuno. By turning down that level on the pedal, can it get as tight/thin (whatever you want to call it) as the original unit? Again, I suppose some of that could be due to tolerance drift in the parts and that specific unit etc.. there might well have been some beefy units in studios throughout the 80's.

michael was wondering if you know of any overdrives or boosts that dont feel flat, I play a lot of genres and need a way to just boost the volume of the amp without having to walk over and turn up. I was wondering if a master volume pedal could do this in the fx loop, but im not too sure. ANY HELP WOULD BE GLADY ACCEPTED!

I've used stompbox EQ in the loop for boost. You can also shape your boosted tone this way. Works great. Two more cables to front of stage though, unless you're already running four cables.

Michael, Great video. I have my ADA MP-1 here I turned it on a few months ago for the first time in about thirty plus years. It did turn on. I wonder if I have to do anything special to it before I play through it? Got any advice?
