I talked to him through email last year asking him if he would make me an accurate pq3 with the actual preamp in it. I guess he looked into it after all. This guy is the only builder who seems open to actually listen to requests. And yes that is why Dime ran the pq3 and 4 up front. He said it himself many times he loved gain. Looks like I will be getting one of these pedals now. It will be great to retire my pq6.
Ohh boy! That tone is somebody can't ignore, you perfectly are the tone guru for us! You make me realise the importance of Eq and their utilization over the period of time through your demos. Please keep them coming, my respect for you mate.
What's not to love about Dime and all that he brought to the guitar world? Thank you for all you put into making videos showcasing him and his sound. This was a great vid all the way to the end...when ya broke the string. Cheers from Texas! 🤘😁
The EQ's from hell really showcase how much those pq4 / aphex EQ's were so crucial to the " sauce" to Dimes tones. He went that extra mile and tone chased until no stone was left unturned. Very inspiring , I find the best tones come from necessity and using what you have. I also want to say that the L500XL " Bill and Becky lineage versions" are equally as important to the Sauce.
Saw this pedal in the background a few months ago and been super curious what it was ever since. Sweet!!! Those guys just don’t miss. Their products are always top quality.
Awesome as always. Really awesome tones with the EQFH-P in the front of the amp. I feel you can get a poor man's version of that by running a metal zone into the front of the amp with the gain set to zero and volume all the way up. People sleep on using a MZ as a boost. Seeing the Vulgar pedal again reminds me that people forget Randall had a few RG preamp pedals. There is the RG-OD and RG13. The RG13 was neat because it had a 1W power amp as well and a boost. It worked best though plugged into another amps power amp and a better boost in front though. It actually had a clean channel as well. Both are getting harder to find though.
I run a MZ and mxr 6-band in the front and an original EQFH in the loop and I can tell you it’s incredibly close. The Randall’s respond so well to an MT-2
@@dq7860 You good sir are a man of culture and class. Everyone parrots the "MT-2 sounds best in the loop," but few know the glory of using it as a boost.
Bought the Boss MKII head following your raving reviews. No argument from the other Boss on that one. It's quite cool for 'Tallica. The necessary spending on front end gear for a Dime tone sounds like divorce to me. 🤞 Feckin awesome, sir. #Queenslander
@@troyskinnard1393 Ok, so I am no expert. This is my first para EQ. But, it is pretty amazing so far...it has SO much gain. Headroom for days. The tone sculpting is great. I have gotten substantial changes to my tone and I feel like I'm only scratching the surface. I like the Shelf option on the low and high bands for even more sound possibilities. Hope my rambling helps lol.
SICK! I wonder if they'll improve upon the Puppet Master EQ the same way. It isn't bad but I can only dial it in a few ways before it doesn't seem to work properly anymore.
What a perfect time for your string to break! The very last squeal! Haha rock on and thanks for the review man! 🤘🏻Now I know what you were telling me to hold off on 😉, appreciate the tip. Sounds like this one is still the favorite right?
Bro are you serious lol… Lamb has an entire catalogue of “capturing tones”. Literally every iconic thrash tone out there he’s made what you just described.
Hi! Amazing tones out there! I am wondering whether is the Washy an original one or not, as the colours look like it's totally new. The washy's go for insane prices really, so if it is not an orig, what can you tell about the overall quality of the build?
I found a way to get the Deathamphetamine tone. Use the amp and 10 band settings the same as the Impact is imminent tone but set treble to 1 oclock and bass to 12 o clock, and for the Overdrive use the Dirty tree by pepers pedals, and set it to 0 on bass, and put high to 2 or 3 o clock and our level to how it sounds best to you. To me it sounds just like it.
04:05 question : just curious : in your videos, are you playing the riffs slightly wrong (as in : a couple of notes are not the right ones, and the riff is not 100% identical to the original) : 1) on purpose (to avoid copyright issues, etc) OR 2) is it just because you're not looking to be 100% accurate (which is fine, especially considering how many different riffs you play i these videos) to the original ? My guess would be 2) :) NB : loving your videos btw ! Stumbled on your channel whzn i was looking for Two notes Genome reviews (loving the plugin myself)
@@LambChopper678 haha sorry if it came off the wrong way :) Most of the time you're 98% percent there, but since you cover bands i grew up with, it's hard not to hear the slight differences :)
@@LambChopper678favorite overall of the three pedals, or favorite for that particular sound? I am having a real hard time deciding between the Pro and the standard EQFH. I’d primarily use it in the loop of my Mesa Marks, but occasionally out front for a different sound. The extra features and unique sound/gain structure of the Pro are really tempting, but not sure if it’s worth another $160. Your channel rules, so glad I found it!
They’re totally different. The ME eqfh pro has its own voice and saturates the sound in a different way. The empress is pretty transparent. It’s something that you’ve just got to try. My favorite is the standard pmeq but tone is really subjective.
@@LambChopper678 After watching a ton of your tone chasing videos and EQ pedal videos, I finally found my sound. I ran a BOSS GE7 in front of my EVH 5150 combo amp, and the EQFH Pro in the effects loop. I pushed the mids up on the GE7 and slightly scooped the mids on the EQFH Pro. The end result was a tone somewhere between And Justice For All and Vulgar Display Of Power. I played with pedal placement and order, and immediately knew I struck gold with this set up. Thanks for your videos. They really played a part in me finding a tone that I never want to stop hearing.
This is beautiful, I love it. Only problem is this released between me ordering and waiting to receive the standard EQFH. In all likelihood now I need to order this version, good problems right?
@@LambChopper678 sorry for the stupid question, i want to buy this eq pedals, i saw many videos where people use 3/4. Do i need to get 4 Master of effetcs pedals to get decdnt sound of my guitar or just 2?
Any suggestion on how to run this in the signal chain to a Mesa Boogie Mark V, the amp already has a 5 freq EQ built into the amp. Not sure if I should run it in front of the amp or through the effects? When I ran it in front of amp it completely lost gain and sounded no where near as it should…. Not sure if I’m overloading frequencies and it’s just shutting down. The Mark V is already a beast within its own circuit. 2 channels, 3 different circuit models (IIC+, Mark IV, Xtreme) in channel 2. Current signal chain is Guitar➡️Boss tuner➡️ MXR 6 band EQ➡️ EQFH PRO ➡️ Mesa Mark V. *Effects loop: chorus, delay, loop pedal.
It’s well made and behaves just like the old RG. They’re not a nice sounding amp on their own with a huge saggy low end. I would never have thought you could make a good tone from one. Put it with the EQFH pro and an mxr 6 band and you have Dime’s tone.
They’re so different as the pq3 has a color in its tone and isn’t transparent. It’s got a sound of its own underneath the eq. The empress para is a clean eq that does it’s job well without putting it’s own footprint on the tone
@@LambChopper678 I just ordered vx100 super kraken and waiting for it to arrive!! But would like to have a parametric eq for my dsl. You inspired me so much I am only 9
I’ve got the original EQFH and in the front it doesn’t offer much, it comes to life in the loop. Is it safe to say the EQFH pro is very usable in the front?
They’re pretty different, the eqfh pro adds it’s own tone to the signal. The empress is more transparent. They’re both good but the pq3 was always pretty wild
