It took a bit but I made axis perpendicular to face at a point for one set of holes, projected them onto a sketch, made planes along path for them, and then sketched circles to extrude, linking their dimensions so I could quickly change their diameters. This kept all of the extrudes normal to the face and you aren't limited to having a spherical face. Then I made circular patterns in sets so that things didn't get crowded in the center or too spaced out near the outer edge.

I've been stuck on threads for something like this to attach to a 1 gallon jug. The jug was using has some proprietary thread, where it's 3 threads each about 1/2 turn. In practice it shouldn't be so difficult, but measuring it properly is tricky.

you can also use the inspect to separate the parts in two and copy the profile and the pattern off of that path

Thank you for the videos! Could you do one that explains how to create screw threads for 3d printing?? I'm having trouble modelling screw threads that I want to 3d print to retrofit on like bottle caps etc

3:57 i encounter this problem very frequently any workaround to do the emboss with the created sketch pattern size that goes beyond the face i wanna emboss? I don't wanna uncheck the single pattern sketches.

when it comes to your circular pattern test (around 6:45), would it not be simpler to select the y axis instead of Z when you're patterning the first pattern, without selecting the second hole, then would it now pattern in a circular motion around the center point along the Vertical axis?

Couldn't you have the circular shape as a Surface, cut the holes and then use Shell on it. Would that not produce the desired result?

What would happen if the sketch was on the bottom side of the sphere vs the outside ?

FreeCAD actually has an option to sketch on curved surfaces which would make this process much easier.

THANK YOU! Unfortunately, I used all possible ways to build a sphere, but the Emboss tool didn't work!! Everything works only using the Extrude tool.
