I love how Futaba's shadow is the only shadow in the game/anime that isn't doing anything out of malicious intent but rather to help Futaba finally ease herself over her grief and turn her life around. It really shows that not everyone's shadow is a side of negativity but rather the side that wants to help the person learn and grow.
To be fair it makes sense, Shadows aren't inherently malicious, they're just the part of a person that they reject and suppress. It's just that most people reject the darker aspects of them and it's only really those people that cause which get them reported on the Phan-site or independently targeted by the Phantom Thieves. Though to be fair, Futaba's Shadow IS a negative aspect of her, it's just not a malicious side of her, her Shadow represents her crushing guilt and depression, and the rejection of self-love. However, I personally think the only reason Futaba's Shadow was so helpful (both to the Thieves and Futaba, even if in roundabout ways in the former's case), is cause Futaba herself was asking for help. Unlike the other Palace Rulers she actively wanted to change but just didn't have the strength to do so, it's just that her own guilt and depression was suppressing it. Something tells me that if Futaba didn't ask for help the Thieves wouldn't have even been able to enter the pyramid at all, just like how it was impossible to enter Kaneshiro's bank without an invitation or being with someone who was invited (Makoto).
I think because in P4, Shadows were weaponized by God to be bad and kill. In P5, God itself isn't manipulating the shadows, they were bad people. Futaba was a good girl, her delusions came from gas lighting from bad people.
@@Midnight-wh2bs To add to this, it's almost unheard of that Shadows meet their true selves. Adding together the seeking help and their meeting, its little wonder that her arc progressed so unusually. Her interactions with her shadow also imply something very important (that might be confirmed but I haven't read it anywhere); Persona are a person's Shadow that has fully bonded with them. People's Shadows are already able to manifest as the various Shadows wandering around the metaverse after all, and those are just semi-sentient coagulated ideas and emotions. Someone who has embraced themself thus becomes unique, spawning a Persona unique to them. NPC behavior vs people who need nothing external to be content.
@@clayxros576 I mean, that's only news to people who only know P5, Futaba's awakening is basically just a P4 awakening as in P4 awakening your Persona was done through confronting and accepting your Shadow. In general Futaba's entire Palace was a P4 awakening drawn out and with the P5 coat of paint.
I say it all the time, but Futaba feels so much more like a Persona 4 character, hiding away a part of herself she doesn't like for people to see, eventually coming to terms with it, accepting it, and turning it into power, similarly to how much of P4's story is about facing yourself and accepting it.
Only thing I would disagree with is Futaba is very aware of who she is and is never afraid to show it. She comes right out of the gate being sassy and having no filter against Yusuke. She didn’t hide her personality or interests like characters in P4. She was paralyzed by her guilt from her mother’s passing causing her to live like a hikikomori. Her entire story is breaking through her bad habits that had built up, not accepting who she is as a person and learning how to live alongside it.
Futaba and Loona are some of my favorite voice over roles from Erica Lindbeck. It's a shame she has to exile herself from social media from the harassments she's getting all because she requested that ai cover video of Futaba to be deleted
idk why its so hard for people to respect the wishes of the artists they actively steal from. like idc if ur a tech bro or whatever but at least have a little self awareness when people clown u for it
Well, after i´ve met Futaba on my PS3 and learn about her circumstances and her heavy, heavy grief... i just wanted to help her. Then her Shadow and her Theme kicked in and i was so... "Girl, i def. WILL save you. No matter what it costs.". Then i learned about her querky personality and her full Geekdom. What i want to say is... i´ve NEVER betrayed my P5-Waifu. Not even after i played P5R on PC. Btw, the same goes for Fie Claussel from TocS 1-4.
I don’t care what anyone says I love futaba she is my favorite navigator in the series I love fuuka and rise but futaba is my favorite she reminds me of my little sister
5:32 went from ultra top hacker god to an adorable teen...god if i wasn't a die hard shipper of Ren/Mako, i'd see Ren and Tabers hooking up. but it feels more like she'd be a little sister to him than an actual love interest. Dont get me wrong, futaba is BAE but kinda has the lil sis/geeky sibling vibe since she was introduced
