Happy birthday and anniversary!! The rockery looks amazing with the white stones! I grow blackberries in raised beds and in some large fabric pots. I don’t prune any of the new growth at all-I just prune the canes down to the soil once they have finished fruiting.
Happy belated birthday and Congratulations on you and Kate's wedding anniversary. Love all of the content that you produce through out the year. Really appreciate sharing your failures as well as your successes. It helps me as a gardener realize that gardening is is a result lifelong learning by trial and error. The drop in by Bill in the video was priceless.
Yes..... It would seem that Belle's photobomb was the star this week. There was a while lot more of her mischeif that got cut, so I'll maybe share it as one of our blooper reels on Instagram 🤣
The Work Never Stops - well I'm on a short holiday so my tomatoes, herbaceous borders & houseplants are looking after themselves! Great tour - lovely to see all the things going on. Enjoy your gardening!
My blackberries are grown upright on a wire trellis and the only pruning I do is to cut out the dead wood and nip the tips off at the top of the trellis. A little late finding your channel but I'm enjoying it immensely.
I’ve sown peas over a 8 weeks, and I regret it now because most of the peas are done but for a few pods still to develop. I now have some swede plants to go in there place. I’m pretty sure the sun has moved in the sky, a sunny border is no longer sunny. The British weather has delayed my future plans, building a shed, Renovating my lawn/ adding a meadow.
Yeah the sun will have moved now so you will be starting to see the beginnings of your autumn garden light. One of the. Best things for me when I first started was keepobb a journal and noting things like light. It's been so handy this year having that to look back on so I know I'm not imagining the changes in weather events etc 🙂
Your wedding looked brill, happy anniversary to u both and belated birthday Eli. I lost all my mangetout from heat/mulch poison but had started a few more in a small trough so fingers crossed. Not great weather here in Lincolnshire today but brightening now, but like you guys lots to do and plan. Busy bees. Hope you have a lovely bbq and anniversary ❤️
Congratulations to you both garden looks great also I use the same idea when a plant doesn’t flower tie some string around it and I know it’s coming out also if I see a plants in the wrong place I tag it and put a white tag in the ground where I need to move it to . Looking good ladies 😀
Happy birthday and anniversary. Garden looks great! Cut worm took out my peas so I am going to replant them. Should be super sweet as it gets cooler here
Also If you want a few more plants from the blackberries, bend those that have the shoots into another pot like your strawberries. I've had blackberries for years and they unfortunately are in the ground and I am constantly having to lift so other plants don't suffer. You have them contained, they are great but prolific. I don't have the same variety but have cut some to the ground and they have still flowered and fruited on new stems the next year. But that's just my experience. Taste fab tho.
Happy birthday and anniversary to you, and you two. Just a thought, why not start peas in the greenhouse while you leave the plants in to finish out. We started peas in a rain trough, and we are still getting a few peas a week from snow peas plants and we are letting the shelling pea grow up and produce next year's seeds.
Happy Birthday and Anniversary! As a new veg gardener, I really appreciate all your videos as things can get a bit bewildering at times. Enjoy your BBQ and stay safe!
Happy birthday and anniversary! Love that hydrangea. The garden is looking so lush and lovely. Nice garlic haul, your shed is so nice and big! My rhodo died, poor baby. I love a good prune/shaping I got a little carried away on my lilac this spring heheh, but she's blooming again, so I guess it wasn't too much. Sooo jealous of kates weed burner! I had eyed the tree in the back and wondered of you'd trim it I love a beautifully pruned Japanese maple, the really structural look is so cool. That cat hahahhahaha omg, do you have cat nip out there ahhahahahaha Oh wow the white really pops. Good luck. Yum those blackberries are going to be delicious. They grew wild where I grew up, you'd just pull over on the road, and bring a bucket and fill it up. I also may or may not have crashed my bike into a blackberry bush! I was all scratched up, but terrified my mom walking in covered in berry juice, she thought it was blood hahahah
It's been ages since I last watched you guys, in fact I think you had just hit 1000 subscribers last time I watched you and now you're over 8000 which is great to see! Was laughing at Belle trying to grab all the attention - the little minx! Great video
Morning ladies hope you had a lovely anniversary. As I sit here watching I’m doing the same thing 🤔 what needs cleaning up clearing out and planning ahead. I did the same thing peas and 😱 beans wayyyyy too many so plans on paper for next year sow less with better access. Pruning plants and flowers and collecting seeds. Thank you for sharing 🥰🐝 safe ladies
Hello, Eli and Kate. Your new camera system (I assume you’re holding the camera with something while walking) is really worth the money you spent on it. Very professional. I must admit that when Belle (or Bill?) came along and upstaged you, I paid no attention to you for a while. That was one cool cat. My plans for the future include the installation of a lot of wood terraces on the hill. And lots of compost in the soil there. Also, I will install a drip watering system, with on/off valves for each section. This hand watering twice a day in the heat of summer is really turning into a comedy of errors. Next season, I’ll let an automated system do the work for me.
Yes Belle is a character and our cats (particularly Parker, hate her with a vengeance). Yeah the little camera has stabilisation so lets me walk a little. I just thought it might be a bit more fun than all the stationary shots, but also give you guys more of a feel for size etc. There will be some blooper reel stuff with belle on Instagram I'm sure 🤣🤣🤣
The advantage of pruning the Acer in summer is, that this keeps the Acer small. During autumn, the tree pulls back all the sap out of the tree and increases the amount of roots over the winter. This leads to more growth in spring, and so on and so on. If you take down leafs in the summer, the roots will grow less and the entire tree will stay smaller over the years.
@@eliandkate I have some Acer palmatum bonsai. Your Acer was quite close to the street and so I thought, maybe it should stay nice and small ☺️. Not a 15 meter tall and 8 meter wide tree 😊
Yeah we 100% didn’t think we could actually keep it alive when we planted it And It was our first few months with a garden 😀 It’s the only tree that we’ve managed to grow to that size. The other all get badly burned and scalped by the wind 😢
Greetings from Denmark🤗 How glad I am to have found your channel. We can compare ourselves with your weather conditions and benefit from tips and knowledge. I'm reviewing all of your videos. I have just remodeled an old garden and have now got a kitchen garden and greenhouse, it was time at the age of 53 years😅 . It will be wildly exciting if I can make something grow in the coming season. SO .... It is now up to you to "tighten your buttocks" because it is you I have to learn from 🤪 No ... calm down now! 😂 I have also bought books and ask for advice from the elderly. Happey birthdag and anniversary 🥰
Hi Eli, love your videos! I have 2 questions if you don’t mind - what do you and Kate think of the weed burner? I’ve been thinking of getting one. Second question is what car do you have? Really like the look of it lol. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and experience with us.
weedburner.... we love it!!! There is a video on it but there will be an update soon as well. Car... it's a Citreon DS3 sport - it was Kate's midlife crisis 😂😂😂😂
