There may be a consideration to be made between a detune and a chorus, which adds movement to detune . Putch shifters usually detune without movement, but most chorus pedals have at least SOME movement even at lowest.
My main Tip would be don't buy them for those ridiculous prices, most can be built DIY for a fraction of those prices. These are decades old circuits, nobody should charge 5 times the price of a kit. Creative and fun also.

Had my Fuzz Factory for nearly 20 years and I still find new sounds in it. One of my all time favourites pedals. My favourite way to use it is as a lead boost either hitting a dirty amp or another pedal, because you can make it sound like pseudo octave up fuzz. But it's not really octave up, it just sounds sorta' like a filthy version of it. Nice song choices too!
So glad you pointed out the octave/pitch shifter in front of a fuzz unit thing. That's one of my favourite combos and you're the first RU-vidr I've seen even mention it! Fun fact: Ross Childress from Collective Soul made exemplary use of this combo.
I would say there are 4 kind of fuzz circuits. Fuzz face,tone bender,big muff and octave fuzz. The germanium silicon has less to do with the differences. For instance the a silicon fuzz face and a germanium fuzz face will sound more similar than a fuzz face vs big muff for example. It's more about the circuits than the transistors.

Try volume swelled full chords with loads of fuzz into big/massive darkish reverb for some super admospheric stuff! Just turn up the hall setting to the max or if you want to be real fancy, try a shimmer

I may be wrong but octave fuzz is not an octaver and fuzz, it is more of foldback distortion in the fuzz curcuit (at least speaking for the octave up). I do not know how it is done in the blue
I think a lot of fuzzes could get you close, but if I had to pick one to try first, I guess it would be the Fuzz Factory. the knobs on the Fuzz Factory give it a lot of range, and I'm betting there's some way to nail it. probably with the Comp knob at noon or above, and the stab knob below noon. But that's a guess.
Nice sounds! I have a keeley fuzz bender which has a bias to blend the germanium and silicon inside it. I lean towards the germanium side, but still get that spluttery silicon sound when I want.
As excellent as all these tips are (I can't wait to try them all out with my pile of fuzz pedals), my favorite part was all the non-fuzz songs you played with fuzz (Pantera, Metallica, etc.). They sounding killer!
OK, but how do I score the Josh Scott Signature Nike Hoodie? :P Always love getting advanced with you, but this episode is especially close to the heart because two of the very first pedals I was ever aware of were the Fuzz Factory and the Russian Big Muff (thank you, Muse) and so started an obsession.
I run my king tone fuzz v2 with super low bias (makes it super spitty) than I run that into a EHX crayon (rolled down his and lows) and gain at 11… it has that spitty fuzz with no sustain going into a well over driven pedal with moderate TS motives.
I was worried that you didn't consider using slap back delay because of the rhythmic rule in the delay video. Thank god there are exceptions to the rules

dude your so advanced. but me too. when i first ever heard about ge fuzzes changing sound due to temperature i exclaimed „why dont they just put a little peltier element on the transistor?“ a what? finally benson did it. can it also heat an cool it to extremes using it as tone/texture control? fuzziest of enall is still mr grainger with his fuzz bar.
Another good tip for a bass player is to use a octave with no dry signal only octave down into a fuzz for a synthy sound, although for this I usually prefer ring mod or bit crushing sounds for making this sort of synthy thing
