between the delay in the release between the 22 and the 25 and the "new" barrel offering in ONLY 25 cal.... I'm guessing the slug conversion concept doesn't scale well. 30 cal could be worse than the 25. TOTAL speculation on my part mind you. Though i have tried the 25 fx hybrid slug through my pellet liner wildcat and the LCS, its awful and fouls the barrel after like 8 shots.
great review, even with the new barrel, i don't see the point. saved me lots of money! kidding aside, i wonder if there is a distance where the slugs show smaller or equal group size. I guess wind would need to be involved to make that happen.
Are these liners even choked? Given the increased tolerances during the manufacturing process, it would make sense to no longer need a choke. That would mean the heavy barrel just has a slightly more aggressive twist rate for heavier projectiles.
I purchased the Kervan Airboss K1 25 cal. I would like to shoot both slugs and pellets. In order for me to do this do I need to change to a different liner? Or do I just have to experiment? The ideal barrel from what I understand would be the FX smooth twist, superior X barrel I have not polished the barrel yet.
Is there anything written on the barrel to indicate whether it is a superior or not so you do not mix them up? Just bought a crown in .22 500mm barrel and I cannot remember which type of barrel it has. Thanks
I own the impact in .25, do you think it is possible to tune the rifle so that on max power setting I can shoot the slugs accurately and then by only changing the wheel to say power 3 or 4 it will shoot the pellets at accurately? I just ordered the superior liner.
Nice, thanks for he video. I am liking the looks of those .25 slugs, I wonder how they will perform in other PCPs? I’ll have to test them out in my Cometa just to see. Cheers guys, take care!
90 yard group was decent. I've shot FX, they stack pellets. Almost boring. I've seen the South African guy shoot pigeons at 150+ yards. Been shooting my German Springers lately, and saving my big bore slug ammo. The .257 ammo isn't cheap either. Always good to test different rifles, and experiment with pellet/ slugs. Usually on the slugs, mrhollowpoint makes them fit tight to the bore. So if a .457 has a .458 bore, then the ammo in .458 fits better, and shoots well out to 236 yards on my ranch. That's my furthest gong.
Holy crap. Those were some of the worst 45 yd groups I have ever seen. Even the "superior" liner barrel was nothing to party about. Not impressed. If my FX had not put hole-in-hole groups at 50 yds I would have either tuned it, or sent it back and replaced it with another $1500 rifle.
I assume you mean the BKL Mount on the wildcat. It's actually just two pieces, it's what I happened to have on hand when I decided to put that scope onto the rifle
Excuse my bad English. I own an FX Wildcat MKII Compact. What is the measurement of the superior liners that they advise for the Wilcat MKII Compact.? Thank you. Best Regards from Argentina
I wanted to order a Remington 725 VR package from Pyramid Air but can't get a reply I want the premium package and cancelled an order with Airgun Depot to place the order BUT have not gotten a response from the company and wonder what the problem is ?
I'd own a wildcat now if they would bring the silly thing up to serious power. 950+ fps and I'm in. I just don't understand what is holding them back from plugging the Streamline, Wildcat, Crown etc. into serious Impact levels of power, or at LEAST give them all an honest 950 fps capability!😞
On the Wildcat (at least a mk2) I'd imagine it's feasible between the AMP reg and a possible plenum extension from Huma, I am pretty sure you could get there.
The Shootin' Dutchman I have the huma reg and plenum in my .25 wildcat 700mm barrel and set on 150bar getting around 930fps , now waiting for my superior liner and fx slugs
The superior liner is the same price as all the other liners, $109.99. At present, FX does not have a factory power plenum for the wildcat, but I believe Huma makes a plenum extension
Thing is I'm skeptical as how a 500 mm power would perform on my Wildcat compact. I sent you an email before I found this vid so it's kind of ironic but I'm dying to find out about the 500mm.
@@Bzapp725 I haven't seen a 500mm liner yet personally, but I suspect the results will be the same. Just as good or better than your current pellet liner with pellets, and far superior (see what I did there?) with slugs!
Hard to say. The nice thing about the .22 cal Hybrids is that they shoot well in the standard pellet liners, so not sure there is a need for a superior liner in .22 at this point.
I swapped from a slugliner a to a superior heavy. And I’m not happy with the results. The fx hybrids shoots better from it but the other brands like NSA are worse. I also lost a bit FPS with the same powersettings.
That’s a bummer !! You shooting the impact ?? What FPS ?? Ted i think mentioned he was seeing better results with FX slugs slowing them down rather than spending them up like everyone seems to say
Plaidcladcanuck I’m awaiting Teds results. I’m shouting Impact 700 mm . Tried speeds from 800 to 1050 FPS. Right now I’m back on the slugliner A and nsa 33.5.
In my opinion those groups with the upper Liner and the Hybrids are not very good ... with the STX Liner pellet .25 I get groups from 1 "to 100yards ..... I have many doubts, I do not want to throw my money into the trash.
Well, more of the same ... FX seems to spend its time correcting its own weapon construction errors. They can't seem to make a standard weapon that satisfies customers. Then it launches accessories to correct errors and make even more money. The excuse is to be a fully adjustable weapon, but with that only make customers buy accessories with promises of more and better but with no results to be seen. The plenums came to correct power shortages that other brands already have as standard, the bullet liners just to profit from the sale of the bullets ... The customers want is an out-of-the-box weapon capable of all in one. I switched from FX to Uragan from AirGun Technology and I don't regret it. I can have 60 factory joules and shoot bullets and pellets from the same barrel and make only one hole 50 meters away. FX is already boring ...
Flavio, this isn't about getting customers to spend more money. If that was the case we would just release a new rifle and make the new barrel tech only fit the new rifle. Instead we offer a barrel liner for those interested and make our rifles that are up to 5 years old be able to being fully up to speed and shoot just like the new rifles being made today. That's unheard of in our industry. And pretty cool. FX is always trying to push what airguns can do and make sure existing owners are taken care of instead of being left behind with an outdated model. But certainly that's not everyone's cup of tea. That's just our approach and we think many agree that it's a great way to go. It's like buying a car this year, next year the manufacturer improves something, only you're able to upgrade your old model car very easily. Unheard of!
@@FXAirguns I realize this video doesn't pertain to it but you all need to stop with the full auto bullshit, #1 it's going to get people killed and #2 the first time it happens you'll be outta business. Mark my words.
The point that is being highlighted is that you can also get respectable accuracy with slugs out of this Superior liner while maintaining the high accuracy standards FX guns hold with pellets.
These, and any other slugs, have never been about being more, or even as accurate, as pellets. The real gain is in terminal performance and higher bc for longer range shooting. Take both the pellets and the slugs out past 100 yards and even to 200 yards. That is where the difference really shines. Slugs have roughly half the holdover and wind drift of pellets.
@@nigelbase1196 That's true but you need to look at the accuracy in a relative scale. Like the difference between being able to hit a squirrel in the eye at 35 yards with a pellet vs just somewhere in the head with a slug. The slugs are still accurate, but pellets can be more accurate in certain circumstances..........especially at longer ranges and in windier conditions. Also, it is important to mention that there is a difference between "power" and "terminal performance"
This is total bullshit. The whole purpose of the "hybrid" slugs was to come up with a higher bc, slug shaped projectile that shot well out of standard pellet liners. Now your telling me they don't?! The hybrids are outrageously expensive......and you still have to buy a new liner?!!!! Might as well get a regular slug liner and shoot NSA slugs 🙄
