This is by far the best video about disassembly FX Maverick that I have had the opportunity to see on the internet, much better than the video by Ernest R., I also watched the marvelous Sub12 Airgunners video - FX AMP Maverick reg rebuild, I like his videos so much !

Thank you for demonstrating the inner structure of Maverick. I think it is easy to disassembly, but very difficult to assemble, because you must adjust the position of the mount and the rear to keep them in the same line. You are an expert, so I think you can handle it.

I have the Maverick compact and changed the small bottle out for the 580cc bottle and added a Koi suppressor. During the removal of the bottle, it came lose with a loud bang and stripped of the complete bottle adapter. My FX was 1 month old at that point. It's best to de-gas the gun until there are a few bars of pressure left in the bottle. Even when the manual tells you that the bottle can removed while under pressure, it cannot . . . it will go wrong sooner or later. Sub12, Your take on this bottle adapter/connector is 100% correct. I had to buy a new bottle connector because it isn't covered by factory warranty. My humble opinion as a mechanical designer is that this bottle connector is a design flaw, period. FX should look at the number of threads on the Edgun Leshiy 2 bottle for instance, now THAT is what I call a secure connection. My first FX was an "independence". I couldn't help but notice the brittle, minimalist design, almost "flimsy". Yes it was a revolutionary air gun but it's build quality was weak. I sold the Independence after a few months. More then a decade later I decided to give FX a second chance and bought the Maverick. Nothing changed . . . I saw exactly the same thing, flimsy design, very weak cocking meganism, especially when you add a heavier spring/slug power kit. Not to mention the bottle adapter. It's quite remarkable when you think about it . . . FX is the only brand that manages to put out pretty "weak" airguns for top dollar and then (to make it better) they sell lot's of highly priced aftermarket parts that should have been on the gun in the first place and call it tuning or personalizing your gun. Maybe it's time for FX to stop innovating for a while and upgrade their existing air gun line. I have/had almost every known brand airgun at some point in my life but FX (as much a I love the Maverick for it's accuracy) just isn't up to par (quality wise) with other guns that are half the price.

Really enjoyable video once again bud clear detailed and absolutely zero waffle I definitely see a all expenses payed trip to Sweden on the cards for you mate don't know how many fx trained technicians we have in England but you could definitely teach them a thing or two 😁👍 The maverick for me was a grower, initially when I first saw it it looked like a mash of parts and thought it wasn't gonna be a production rifle 😐 I remember saying to someone it looks like a wildimpactline or dreamcatimpact 😆 However it's definitely grown on me and it may be a combination of existing part but you can't deny the genius of combining them parts and innovation, obviously them savings in manufacturer have been passed on and have made this alot of rifle for the money and its good a company as big as FX is passing that on when they could have just charged more and people would have still paid it 🙂 All that said an impact does looks alot easier to work on 😄 Cheers look forward to the next one 👌 atb

Thanks, I appreciate the support, and sorry for the late reply, still not sure on the maverick, its not that comfortable to shoulder and the mechanics of the rifle really are not that impressive, A bit more tinkering to do if I am honest but I much prefer both the impact and the dreamtac over the maverick. No matter if you like FX or hate them you can't deny that they are the current market leaders, and they are making some nice rifles at the moment, but for me at least the maverick is not a outstanding rifle. Thanks for watching.

May I ask what difference there is in between the original version of the maverick and the FAC- modell you are referingg to? Could it be like you are with some other ”corrections ” done to the rifle, get a lot more speed and muzzle energy out of it? If there is any instructionfilms on how too do just that I would like to know where to find those films. If there is’nt, can tou please make one? As I’ve just ordered a maverick VP where I live I would like it to have more speed and muzzle energy to be able to do some pestcontroll at a little longer distances. Thanks by the way for very good instructions on Yoytube.

As a word of caution to new Maverick buyers, the screw in the side of the hammer spring adjuster on mine came fully out after about 40 shots out of the box. The primary symptom was the shots getting weaker and weaker. Locktite now holds the answer
@sub12airgunners
@sub12airgunners 3 года назад
Strange, was it an FAC rifle? There should be a delrin plug in the bottom of the locking screw in the side, providing a little bit of tension on the adjuster screw but also upward pressure on the locking screw stopping it from vibrating loose. But i guess it wasn't tightened from the factory properly, just had a look at mine and its still tight, but a good tip for other people, and I might loctite mine just in case. Thanks for watching.

My FX has this problem as well. The second time I detached my bottle to tune the Huma reg, it stripped the bottle adapter with a loud bang. The treads are simply too short and (like Huma-Air told me as well) we don't understand why this part is made of alloy. FX is very innovative but kind of flimsy here and there compared to other much cheaper air guns. The cocking mechnism is so smooth they say . . . well I disagree. It's grindy althoug I frequently clean it and grease it with sillicone grease. The pin that connects the lever to the rest of the mechanism is very thin and falls out. It becomes even worse when you add the slug powerkit, you can feel that FX is not build for that. Not to mention when you add the heavier spring. I can imagine that on the sub 12 fpe units these problems do not occure because the cocking mechanism is not under stress and cicles smoothly. I don't know about the Impact, but I think Matt Dubber's Compact is not the same as the production rifles. Although the Maverick is an awesome piece of kit, certain parts really need to be redesigned and made beefier. Maverick owners should get these redesigned items for free. But that's my 5 cts.

@@sub12airgunners - Is it worth trying to source / build a bottle adapter made of steel with better threads or not worth it as long as your careful ?
@jbhk7977
@jbhk7977 Год назад
@@markjohnson2166 A stainless steel bottle adapter is the only way to go. This doesn't have to be a very expensive upgrade for FX when mass produced. They should make the treads longer as well so the bottle can fed straight without the inevitable whobble. I am in contact with FX since a few weeks about this problem because I got injured when the bottle stripped the alloy bottle adapter and their first responce was as we know from the IT business "a user fault". They NEVER had this problem. It's sad that you first have to convince a manufacturer that this is NOT a user error, that I know how to align and feed the bottle straight. But there comes a point when the valve angages and that's where things can go wrong. It's almost impossible to keep the bottle perfectly straight while turning under high pressure. You can never make this design flaw into a user error, it's a design error. The only thing you can do is degass the gun completely because it also happens at 100 bar. Most people leave their guns as they left the factory, but if you do a lot of tuning, different slugs, barrels etc . . . stay away from the Impact. And yes, there are always people that say they detach the bottle on a weekly basis and never had a problem. Well . . . then they are lucky or full of shit 😉

Do you use Teflon tape on bottle threads?
@jbhk7977
@jbhk7977 Год назад
I think the bottle adapter/connector is a design flaw. It's just to week, too few threads which makes the connection unstable and the made a "beginners mistake" by using alloy threads on the steel treads from the botte. It's well a well known fact that you never use alloy and steel as a connection when there's high pressure involved. I already stripped one completely when the gun was a few weeks old. The bottle just flew off. "User error" is what you get . . . believe me, this was not a user error. Now my second bottle adapter is beginning to strip (threads are bend) after I removed the bottle a few times to set my Huma Reg. I even lowered my bottle pressure to 100 bar for less stress. I know how to thread and allign these bottles and I know there are people that claim they never had a problem, but as these guns get older, the problem will present itself more and more. Most people never take the bottle off and shoot it using factory settings. I think that using teflon could make things even worse because this makes the fastening and loosening more difficult. Adding teflon means you need more force to screw the bottle on or take it off which results en even more wobble. Huma Air also confirmed this bottle connector is not designed the way it should. The manual sais you can take the bottle on and screw it off under pressure, this is NOT TRUE. The only safe way (in the long run) is to depressurize the Maverick/Dreamline completely before you take the bottle off. Better would be a stainless steel adapter with longer threads so the bottle get stabilized before it presses in the valve.
