In an effort to properly refurbish my second generation R6 rear-sets, I install an Outlaw Racing shift lever and FlashTune ECU custom length shift rod.

I reckon the black shifter rod really compliments the look of the bike, also has a bit of a cleaner look.
@HalfClickUp
@HalfClickUp Год назад
I agree.. it’s almost a more “professional” look to the assembly. Very clean.

You could also just try and return the adapter lol. Looks good. Are you going to add loctite to the shifter rod pieces?

Once I confirm function via test ride, maybe.. I’m kind of apprehensive about making it semi-permanent like that, especially having not felt it on the track yet.
@tylerelliott6080

I would loctite it as well. Hate to miss a session because you are having to retighten it down. Blue is not permanent.

I wish you had a video showing a side perspective of how the stock ride was vs the clip ons and rear sets. So i can tell how more aggressive the ride is. I'm interested in doing the same mods

I suppose at this point the best I could do is place the factory rearsets back into position as a sort of mock-up for comparison? Maybe throw up some side by side photos of some stock Yamaha imagery and the R6 rearset orientation?

Awesome! Was there a video for the r6 rearset install? I'm having trouble finding it, if so

Great video as always. I plan to get rear sets in the future. However when I bought my fz6r the previous owner had both sifter and break levers bent, do u think this shifter lever will fit stock set up? (Just lever not rod)? Also do u know where I could get the break lever to match?
@HalfClickUp
@HalfClickUp Год назад
Yep for factory replacement parts, I always go to Partzilla.com. It’s all organized by factory blowout diagrams so you know you’re ordering exactly what you need. This Outlaw Racing will not fit the factory shift rod, though. Find you factory one on the cheap on eBay, perhaps.

Yes Sir, noticed straight away right there on the rear stand that the upshift “clicks” took a lot less effort. More sensitive half click up, too nawmsayin 😬

Looks like you need to take that pawl off one more time, spin it in to shorten the link a bit more, and try to get the pawl 90 degrees from the linkage. Might need to remove that second black nut you put in, too. Of course, this all depends on whether the shifter is at a comfortable angle for your foot or not. You might have to shorten the link more to get it at a comfy angle. You'll know after a ride.
@HalfClickUp
@HalfClickUp Год назад
Certainly a possibility. I also may need to start from the drawing board and incorporate several of the smaller links instead of the main body, but I’m hoping it feels as good going down the road as it does on the rear stand. We’ll know soon enough!
@brianhaygood183
@brianhaygood183 Год назад
@@HalfClickUp it was about sixty degrees off before, which would make it twice as hard to shift as it will be when you get it dialed in.
@HalfClickUp
@HalfClickUp Год назад
@@brianhaygood183 I hadn’t mentioned it in the video, but the upshifts are VERY light now compared to before. I’m excited about how that will transfer to the track.

I’m curious how comfortable you’ve found both the Clip Ons and Rear Set mods in comparison to stock. Has it caused any issues when doing longer hauls or any discomfort? Most of the mechanics and people I’ve spoken to tend to avoid changing their sitting geometry too much. Also, went to install iridium plugs on my FZ6R today, and the old plugs had seized up and the threads snapped off, so that’s going to be fun to fix 🙃

The combination isn’t uncomfortable with respect to the bike’s purpose now. My objective was to eliminate peg scraping at the track, which was this bike’s limitation. I’m running 3.27 gearing, too, so long haul riding isn’t a thing for me and this bike anymore. I commute on a Tiger 800 these days and reserve the Fizzer for track days and the Friday commute to bring you guys new episodes of Fizzer Friday. As far as the new rider’s geometry, though, I wouldn’t hesitate for a minute to swap back to factory gearing and put this bike back to daily commuting duties if I needed to. I wouldn’t install rearsets without clip-ons, though.. that would be counterintuitive for sure.

@StreamlineTheory Год назад
Nice! I’ve been looking at the Tiger 660 Sport if I ever decide to jump to a new bike 👍 Wasn’t sure if it was still your commuter alongside being a track bike, makes total sense to me now though! Cheers for all your videos
