Shmo, Josh, and Noah react to (G)I-DLE's "OH MY GOD" Official Music Video Second Channel: / @detourmain Social Media, Apple Podcasts, Spotify: linktr.ee/millennialmen #Kpop #MusicVideo #Reaction #Blackpink #iKon
I think this song is really important for Soyeon's personal beliefs and her christianity. As you all nevies know Soyeon is christian together with Soojin. And i mean, even here there are literally crosses everywhere at the end, brought up by the dancers. The white apple, that means yes, you can bite the apple of knowledge and feel all you want cause if you feel pure with it, it's not a sin (with the right restraints obviously, lol, like..."do not kill"). And with "THAT is not a sin", THAT could mean anything. Soyeon said that the "HER" could be anything. Anything you feel pure but at the same time wrong about. The point of the song is "whatever people are saying, love what you want, cause if it makes you feel happy then that's not a sin for God". That's why she's praying to god in the middle of the song and in the chorus/title...it's a prayer in which she says that she knows it's not a bad sin since she's feeling so tempted to something she feels good and Pure with. And god could never punish her for pureness, literally. The title itself suggest she's talking to God
In my opinion (G)I-DLE is probably one of the most interesting girl groups. They're music videos tend to be more cinematic than other groups and they aren't afraid to take risks and be different. Soyeon (rapper, short black hair) self produces and writes most of their songs. If you guys liked this you'll also really like their other songs and music videos, I know you guys are busy so if I had to recommend 1 song I'd recommend "Lion". It's equally as good as this if not better imo

Absolutely! They have some of the best and I mean THEE best concepts in K-pop. They go out of the comfort zone that’s been built around K-pop with what they “can” and “can’t” do
actually, the majority of people interpret this song as a song about loving the same-sex. from the very beginning, we hear the church bell tauntingly ring, while visually we start to see religious elements (white color to signify purity/innocence,wine, a chalice, and blood). as the music video progresses, we also see barbed wire, altars, and apples. now, regarding the members roles in the music video, it seems miyeon and shuhua resemble divine beings or angels because they appear to be in white gowns with nicely done makeup; hence, making a stark contrast in comparison to minnie and soyeon - who transition from being trapped in a white room to a dark underworld. the same happens to yuqi and soojin. however, it seems soojin fully embraces her fate and seems comfortable in her role later in the song. in an interview soyeon, the leader of the group who also wrote and produced the song said “I didn’t want to limit that ‘she’ to a certain being or a certain ‘definition’ so it’s open to anything. i believe that all kinds of love are valuable and must be respected. that’s why i don’t want to limit ‘she’ to something specific.” personally, for these reasons, i like to think this is the true meaning behind the song but i also understand the different point of views that others may have.
That is the overt implication, but the deeper one is the general theme of good vs evil, and temptation. Not to mention that being good and pure is boring, and succumbing to temptation is exciting at first, but then it taints you. This song has a LOT more meaning than just a girl/girl relationship.
@@rlm502 maybe so, but referring to temptation is "she" only would be pretty misogynistic. Besides, the song also clearly states about falling in love, not just being tempted by something abstract. So, it IS about falling in love with the same-sex for the first time, but it's just described beautifully as temptation as in "gay awakening". As per the story of the lyrics, it's clearly something that happened for the first time with the singer, and something they didn't expect. You can also add to it that by christians it's considered as "sin" which is partially included in the theme of the song and video.
@@lightefilit as a lesbian, i think noah’s interpretation is super fascinating and definitely hits a deeper note than just “girls sexc”. the idea that music can have a good v evil effect depending on how it consumes your life is so interesting to think about considering gidle’s idol status. very interesting potential subtext hidden under a gay anthem.

This analysis video was really helpful to me to understand the mv and the official g-idle account commented on this analysis ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-icUfcn2sTXU.html&ab_channel=%EA%B9%80%EC%9D%BC%EC%98%A415KIM
In "Oh My God," Soojin is portraying something like a siren whose job is to seduce the other members with her charm. We see how at the start everything is pure and white but towards the end, the members fall into darkness and the corruption is shown on Minnie's hands when she's laying down in the end.

The English version of this leaves nothing to interpretation. Clearly about a woman tempting another woman and her giving into it. That’s why you see the imagery of angles and demons. Soojin’s character is the temptress and it looks like Minnie and Soyeon give in and are condemned or go to what seems like hell for it. Also if you notice Minnie’s hands throughout the video they start to become black starting from her fingers going all the way up her forearms. Also, the dancers are also covered in black handprints. My theory is(haven’t seen this anywhere else) is that the more she gives into this homosexuality it presents itself as her arms becoming more and more black which is why you’re seeing black hand prints all over the female dancer’s bodies Also, FCK CUBE for what they did to Soojin
@@Lisbellas yes, and it's really well made and well translated, here is the official lyrics video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AdSQi7-xT8Y.html&ab_channel=%28G%29I-DLE-Topic
Quotes from Soyeon in an MTV Interview: "With I Trust we wanted to convey a process of self-trust, the process in which we come to believe in ourselves, which leads to self-confidence as well," Soyeon says. "We did this concept because we wanted to do it. There's no right time or wrong time for girl groups to do anything. We can do whatever we want, whenever we want to do it." "I didn't want to limit that 'she' to a certain being or a certain definition," she says. "So it's open to anything. I believe that all kinds of love are valuable and must be respected. That's why I don't want to limit 'she' to something specific."
YES G-idle!! They are my second favorite group behind blackpink but personally i like their music and concept more! They are a lil underrated, they are absolutely amazing!
Soyeon said: "I didn't want to limit that 'she' to a certain being or a certain definition so it's open to anything. I believe that all kinds of love are valuable and must be respected. That's why I don't want to limit 'she' to something specific." So if that's what it means to you, that is exactly what it is meant to be :) You could also check out the English version of this song. It is much more explicit and undeniably a bigger lesbian anthem.
I recommend *Lion* MV as well, originally performed on *Queendom* for their final stage. If you ever get to watch Queendom in your own time I highly recommend their *Latata* and *put it straight - nightmare ver* performances. Hauntingly good, if there is such a thing lol I also like *Hann* and *Hwaa* (continuation of Hann)
Also, if you're branching out into more kpop GG, I highly recommend *Mamamoo* a 4 member GG known as vocal Queens. They also took out Queendom... because they're Queens lol maybe start with either *Hip* for hiphop vibe and a 🖕to haters lol or *Egotistic* with Latin vibes or *Starry Night* stunning visuals and vocals
Yuqi from G-idle has amazing solo songs. You all should check out Bonnie and Clyde if you are looking for some REALLY good vocals. All of the members stand out in their own right in the group and I love how much they contribute into the production of the songs. It makes it all the more meaningful.
Very unique interpretation for a very unique group! I've watched several reactions/reviews, but this is the first I heard they're talking about their music for "HER/SHE". Theories goes so many roads such as forbidden/toxic love, lgbt love, and even biblical. Well, there are no right or wrong answers for this song. SOYEON (rapper), who is also the leader, writer, composer, etc. said that she wanted to create a song with vague story. Something that gives so many angles for everyone to interpret. She wanted for the audience to react like this and ask "What does she meant by that?", "What was Soyeon thinking while writing this?", etc. And she was right! Up until now theories and interpretations are flowing, but they haven't released the real meaning of the song. Connecting to that, SOYEON said that the "HER/SHE" in the song can mean anything and added "Music should not be bound by gender, since music is for everyone." (non-verbatim). SOYEON said that you can think of it however you want and to TRUST that meaning, whether TRUE or LIE. This connects as well to the theme of their 3rd album "I-TRUST" (OMG is the title track), with 2 versions, TRUE (black theme) and LIE (white theme). They also have English version of this (part of b-side) and Japanese version with its own MV! They also did a Special Choreo for this song. I hope you check out more of IDLE's contents, MVs, B-sides, series, etc. Very unique group that breaks the standards and norms of the industry.
They're an amazing group and they produce their own music. Pretty much have creative control over everything they do. Soyeon the rapper, has produced pretty much everything except for a couple songs by Minnie(the one who starts the video off) and Yuqi(deep voice).
Thank you so much for this!! Im not even a G-idle stan but gooooohhhddd this mv and song made me a changed person!! And when the english version came out I ascended to heavens fr
This is so nice of you reacting to idle! I hope you would react to them more. If sometime you would consider, I recommend Hann, Uh Oh, Dumdi Dumdi and Hwaa. The diversity is amazing! :)
See what I appreciate about G Idle and why they are my group since all my 2nd (maybe some very early 3rd have left... G Idle you can listen to their music and you hear art. I can appreciate their music so much. From quality, music, lyrics... Hell even their brighter ones still have the hit. They really are something. And I feel can show other people to listen to and they don't have to become a listener. But you can most definitely appreciate majority of G Idle songs as music art. And that is what I go for. I love their music so much. The girls really are becoming strong and powerful woman. In a strict and controlling environment they are making waves. Really powerful music their lyrics are to woman as well 💙 to society and to humans as a whole. And they do it so lightly but deeply. Very much appreciate them.after their NXDE song came out.. and the turn tomboy had before... I am keeping the manifestation thought out there that Soojin could come back. NXDE gave me serious hopes that they want her back. And cube, as dicky as they can be. I think they know the girls worth and know Soojin is always going to be wanted and missed. Her voice sealed the deal. They all had their voices in an array that it would flow like gold from their songs. I think she has no reason to fear coming back 💙 fuck the haters.
Gidle is my second favorite kpop group and I am thankful every day for finding them. Minnie is my TOP 1 voice in the world, listening to her is completely addictive for me.
BLINKS CHILL!!!!!!!! They already said that they will react to Lisa for sure but they have to get back together for recording… so it’s not NOW. Base on their outfits it’s still the same day they recorded other video recently.. let’s be patient guys
I’m usually picky about watching reaction videos to gidle MVs since most people would just look at it to a surface level and go “wow amazing”. You guys really stood out to me among the other reactors. Yall seemed really invested and interested on the mv beyond surface level and I love the way y’all went “wOah” at 4:09 :))
The song is about woman falling in love with another woman. It's the lesbian awakening 🙌 Lyrics and visuals also represent the temptress and the one who falls for her, it's stunning through and through. P.S.: "I was drawn into the music" is referring to siren's singing aka the one who is the temptress charmed another like a siren.
Pls react to GIDLE LION AND HWAA.. they are an outstanding girl grp in kpop.. What makes them different is they make their own music.. From lyrics to production
OMG IM SO HAPPY U GUYS REACTED TO THIS. G IDLE IS ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED GROUPS. THEIR SONGS ARE JUST CHEF'S KISSES. I RECOMMEND U TO WATCH LION. AND I LOVE UR REACTION TO THIS,
Excellent reaction Thank you This song has many interpretations and according to the author of this song (Soyeon the leader of the group) it is open to interpretations Interesting that you were talking about music being the one who to the sky, one of the meaning is self trust, this group produces their songs so has to trust their own sound, so in a sense yes the point is their music is the one who takes us high
Gidle is composing their own music specially the leader seyeon she wrote and compose 80% of their songs..its very rare with kpop GG 's. Plz react to them more. Some songs i suggest. Lion Hann Dhalia Put it straight ( nightmare ver ) queendom performance Uh oh Hwaa Dumdi dumdi
It's amazing how much people try to pretend this is about something other than what it's about. It's about a closeted gay girl, sleeping with her girlfriend, feeling guilty. She has to let her old self die and be reborn as an openly gay girl. The message is wildly overspecified -- check out the purple, the rainbows, the almost-a-kiss, read the lyrics, and then check out the English language lyrics.
Agree!! People love to over-complicated things with convoluted explanation just to avoid the simple truth. Just read the lyric, be open minded and then there is your answer. The lyric is not even twisted.
Hye. Try check it out Kpop Girl Group called Dreamcatcher. They are the only girlgroup who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their music especially their title tracks, fusing with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. 🤟
You'll should react to more gidle songs , they are the best , and the leader soyeon is one of the best female rappers and most of their songs are written and produced by her, gilde is one of those few groups who make their own music
