I feel much better knowing that whenever I hit the ground at terminal velocity, get frozen in ice, assaulted by a bmx bike or run over by a steamroller my watch will still work.
I did not understand what they were saying as I don't know Japanese except the few English words like G-Shock & Mr.G. But if I am not wrong then the person who was testing the G-Shock was *'Mr.Kikuo Ibe'* the inventor of the G-Shock watches. His enthusiasm while testing & his joy while he proudly displayed the G-Shock after it underwent the tests shows his happiness & pride in the legacy product he & his team created. The part where the engineers carefully assemble the tiniest parts of the watch shows the great dedication & focus in building a great quality watch which is synonymous with mostly all Japanese products. I think the watch model which took all the beatings was from the legendary G-Shock DW-5000 series, the first G-Shock model to be created. And considering it was invented in 1983, my birth year, it makes it even more special for me. I love Casio G-shock, a watch for everyone, a watch for all conditions. ❤️ For me, G-Shock represents the Japanese philosophy & discipline of never give up attitude, the spirit of rising up again after experiencing a downfall. Japan has a horrific history of being hit by the nuclear bombs, earthquakes, tsunamis etc but the Japanese people have the positive mindset & attitude to get back up after the shocks. I really admire the Japanese people & I learn the qualities of discipline & never give up mindset from them. Also their focus on quality is really visible from almost all their electronical, automotive & other products & goods which are admired globally. For me, G-Shock is also the Rocky Balboa of the watch universe. _"You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!"_ Rocky Balboa
Ikuo Ibe has made modifications , improvements and about 200 failed tests before releasing the first G-shock . Thanks to his hard work , he is a genius .
yes! what an amazing comment! btw Every time I feel down/sad/incompetent, i look at my beloved gshock G-5600UE-1DR and feel tough again, so i wear it whenever i can, except maybe while sleeping. i love its hourly beeps, keeps me mindful..😊
I needed a watch to tell time at my warehouse job, and my cheap flimsy watch broke after a month. Then, I decided to buy a G-Shock and I'll never have to worry again. Fits great on my wrist, looks good, and it's nearly indestructible for the day to day damage it receives being in a busy warehouse with heavy equipment. Take it from me, it's a great watch brand!
I love seeing how happy Ibe is. Not just happiness but pride and achievement. He worked so hard and made one of the most amazing products in the world, a true icon. In many ways, the best watch in the world. Personally I enjoy the basic 5600 and the Frogman the most.
Torture tests aren't only interesting to watch but also prove that the timekeeper can survive anything below "absurd punishment". I probably won't be hitting my watch on cement at a tremedous speed, but since it sustain this kind of impact, the occasional bump in the door or wall corner will surely result in no damage.
It's kind of scary to think how much more durable G-Shock is than a human body, so basically whatever you do, the watch will most likely outlive you if you always keep it on your wrist..
My mum by mistake had put my g-shock in the sub-zero freezer and I thought I had lost it, 40 days later I found it, it was frozen in the freezer and it is still running like a charm.
Nice video Sjors! Those Japanese people are so charming and crazy :) Nice to see that the G-Shock survived all those tests. I posted another one of these videos today with the GWF-1000 Frogman being torture tested down to a depth of 1000 meters (3333 feet). Check that one out and see how awesome the Frogman is!
GShock is indestructible thats the first thing i ever learned about them I remember my first year in college I had a limited edition Bape GShock and my roommate had one that was fake but I didnt want to explain it to him one day his strap ripped he asked me why if I wear mine more than him why did his rip and I explained to him that if anything like that happens on a Gshock its fake he did his research and bought him a real one after that
