G Sync non-compatible Freesync monitor flicker fix

In short: use latest drivers, and try lowering refresh rate.
(Remember, Displayport is required)
If flickering is still noticeable, try some of the tips here:
/ if_your_gsync_monitor_...
.... otherwise it might be unavoidable, as per this article:
techreport.com...
... in which case, might as well go max refresh rate and disable gsync... tearing at 144Hz is nowhere near as bad as it was at 60Hz back in the day, and better than eye-straining flicker.

What an absolute legend! Fixed my flickering issue completely
@Old-Boy_BEbop
@Old-Boy_BEbop 2 года назад
dude your a legend this totally fixed the black flickering of my monitor during load times or when the gsync and vsync was 1 frame lower than my monitors refresh rate... meaning my monitor is 100, 120, 144... if i have 100hz gsync and vsync would hover at 100hz or 99hz... and every time it went to 99hz it will flicker black.

I have a 144hz monitor, should I set the hz to 117 as shown in the video?
@sergeantnathan6152
@sergeantnathan6152 Год назад
Depends... if you are running it at 120Hz, set the target framerate around 117. If running at 144 Hz, set the target framerate around 141. Target framerate should always be a few frames less than the refresh rate you are running at.... at least when we are talking high frame rates and GSync/Freesync/Adaptivesync. This ensures you stay in the refresh rate range where the technology is active, giving you a smooth experience. If your frame rate goes OVER the refresh rate, VSYNC (and the stuttering it introduces) or screen tearing is the fall-back. Mind you, the higher the refresh rate, the less noticeable screen tearing is, so if you have flickering issues still after all of this, it's not as big of a deal these days at 144 Hz + to have screen tearing (compared to the decade of only-60-Hz LCD monitors). The other benefit is power use. Running at frame rates above your refresh rate is just a waste of power. Doing this can give you a cooler, quieter, longer-lasting card.

I use custom resolution utility seems to work for me
@PokeBlu249
@PokeBlu249 6 месяцев назад
This is not a fix, this is a compromise. If your monitor has flickering with gsync, chances are it's just a bad monitor and all you can do is mitigate the problem. You can lower the maximum framerate like this, or you can decrease the range in which gsync is actually active in Custom Resolution Utility.
@hy1610
@hy1610 Год назад
I have tried this method and it was successful, but to modify what you said, the success rate is 95% and not 99%, because sometimes flickering occurs, but in a simple and non-continuous manner only for moments, and it is possible that every hour of play occurs once or twice flickering (note that I do not speak English and I am an Arab and this google translate to english)

G-Sync will flicker when I use HDR... otherwise it's not doing this. It was a problem on my old monitor two, altho I just got a 1440p monitor my old 4K monitor did it two. Not sure what is happening with HDR and G-Sync.
@WorldBeyondSoundtracks
@WorldBeyondSoundtracks Год назад
I have this too and it's flickering in HDR because the monitor is at its max brightness in this mode, if I just increase the brightness in sdr mode it starts flickering too. It's not apparent at 50% brightness at all.

Guys I found a fix (at least it worked for me) The flicker only happens if you are using multiple monitors; Try to lower the refresh rate of the secondary monitor bit by bit from the display settings until the flickering is gone. I lowered the refresh rate of my secondary monitor to 99 and and other monitor was set to 144 and it was fixed EDIT: This does not solve it completely, however I found another "solution": if you have 2 monitors just connect one via HDMI and the main monitor via DP this seems to make the flicker disappear. Also if nothing works you can turn off g-sync (not actually a fix)

@sergeantnathan6152
@sergeantnathan6152 Год назад
@@iim0rtal.250 It might be a cabling issue. A 6ft dollar store HDMI cable can handle 1080p at 60Hz, but much beyond that issues can occur, especially blacking out when too far out of spec. You can try different cable then a different system... you can even try the VGA connection at 1080p 60Hz... if it still flickers, sounds like a monitor-level issue then. I would replace it.

I have a 3070 ti, i dont have screen flicker but i jave ceetain objects and textures in game flickering or flashing. Do you know what might fix this issue? For example csgo distant windows and boxes, rails or stripped boxes flicker and flash around. Dayz same with fences and distant objects. Flickering and flashing. Its really really annoying. I have a 750w pcu. gigabyte z690mother 16gb ram(same ram sticks) i7 12700k cpu evga geforce rtx 3070 ti. Plenty of nvme nemory. I dobt understand why this system that cost me a fair wack is doing this. I also used 2 1440p monitors at 144hz and 264hz 27inch curve and a 34inch ultrawide. Still same. Problems and ive tried new cables... Honestly annoying me as you can probably tell
@sergeantnathan6152
@sergeantnathan6152 2 года назад
Personally, last year I just went out and bought a Gigabyte M27Q, a model that had proven itself to work for a reasonable price. That Acer monitor that was flickering on my main PC caused even MORE issues on my old "retro" PC (with GTX670) - after post, there was severe graphics corruption, or blank screen, regardless of connection. I flashed the latest bios for the card and disabled freesync on the monitor, and then it worked fine, even at 144Hz. So, short answer, if you'd tried the tips and still unhappy with the amount of flicker, there's only 2 solutions: disable freesync on the monitor, or get a new monitor.
