Had some questions about pin 38. ECU pin 38 Black connector pin 38 comes from ASD relay OUTPUT. Also connects to white connector’s pins 19 and 28, to capacitors, coils and injectors. Orange connector pin 38 goes to electronic throttle pin 5. White connector pin 38 grounds the stater relay so it goes to the ground side of the relay coil.
Shelbydog Thank you very much I was able to do my wiring as in your video and it worked well thanks for giving us your knowledge thanks now just to mount my 5.7l in my 2002 jeep grand cherokee I will let you know how it works
You should make a video about wiring the gas pedal directly into the throttle body or how to remove the limp mode. But a way to bypass the PCM when it goes into limp mode would be great. It would help so many get home when the hemi is on timeout.
Awesome video, thanks for doing it. I am about to try this. I have 28 Dodge 2dr sedan with a 440. I bought a complete running 05 Chrysler 300 to do the swap with. I also have a 46rh to run behind the 5.7. I hope your ready for an old dumb guy full of questions.
Thanks Glen, I watched your video. I have a bb car, a sb car and a g3 Hemi car. The G3 is the easiest to jump in and I’ve driven it 25,000 miles in 3 years on various car shows and Power Tours.
Like I said in the video, it’s finally released. Instructions by Blake and Mike at DIYHemi.com on how to remove the SKIM security from your NGC ecu using HP-Tuners. Thanks guys! Follow this link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-20kXyXQfCLg.html
Can you send me a little better pictures of you notes? I’m going to look over all my wiring again to make sure the pins are in the correct place. Please
Thanks for the video its going to help alot of us out. Isn't pin 38 on the blk connector the pci bus connector for the obd 2. I didn't know that would connect to the white asd connector
Just looked you up. We need to get your Cuda up and RUNNING! Been driving my 5.7 swapped Cuda for 4 years now. That connector that I show is the same one from your video 2 days ago. All of my pin outs for that are in my video. PM me on the FB and I’ll help you with any questions but try following my diagram first.
@@shelbydogg thanks and yes indeed i need to get this thing running. How u like your car so far with the hemi swap?? Im going to watch ur video again. Its sucks i don't have Facebook im not big on doing the social media like Facebook even tho i got a instagram
@@musclecargarage8882 Let me know how it goes. Yours still no fuel on yours? Did you add 12v to the start signal like I did with my push button? Mine won’t start till I push that.
I’m wondering if the issue with your OBDII connector and your need to shorten it in order to make it work isn’t an issue with the two terminating resistors on the CAN Bus?? I don’t know where they are located. I understand they are built into devices on the network. Likely varies by year and model Worth a quick check. Two 120 ohm resistors in parallel for a 60 ohm reading if all good. 23:41 Just getting started with my swap. Thanks for all the great info
Great video. I have a complete 2014 dodge charger with a 5.7 hemi and a nag1 tranny. Was wondering if the harness would be the same? Wanting to install into a 1974 dodge dart. If so can I purchase your info somehow? Thanks
Hello. My plan is to swamp 5.7 hemi from dodge durango 2005 all together with automatic gearbox and transfer case. Do you have any information or video about C4 conector
I don’t have any information on C4 Pins. My swaps all went on manual transmission cars. But it sounds like you have everything you need, but have to move it to the swapped vehicle. Good Luck!
I’ve followed your notes. Engine fires up but my gas pedal no working. Can you help me out with as in where exactly the wires go? Gas pedal to ECU then throttle body to ECU please and thank you
I have a 2006 5.7 charger and wanted to do a 2008 6.1 swap out of another charger. Do you think i need that pcm or wire harness? Is it all the same and the swap is just a bolt on?
The tune is different because the 5.7 had MDS, unless it was a manual trans. The 5.7 also had EGR. The 6.1 didn’t have either. You can have a tuner turn that stuff off in your current PCM and tell it it is a 6.1 now or grab the new computer to use or pull the tune out of it. If you had an HP tuner, you can do it yourself.
hey, thank you for the information. i have been pulling what little hair i have out over my hemi swap. i wrote down all your pin connections from a prior video. to you have the same for the relays for the fuel pump, ASD, and starter? i would like to hardwire them in since i dont have a C130/100 connector. thanks
Not sure what you are asking. All of the pinouts are shown in my videos. The c100 connector just makes it easier but the wires still go to the same places on the engine or PCM.
still having trouble. with master switch on, i get click to TB, FP turns on @ 50 psi, and i can turn it over. no start. when i connect with HP scanner, it says no power detected. i have checked each connection. what am i missing?
i havent pulled the plugs yet, but there is signal to the coils and injectors. with the voltmeter it reads 12v for a different connection, but 190 for the red wire on both the coil and injector.@@shelbydogg
Google “Hemi swap flywheel” they come up for around $300. Look for 8 bolts and 130 teeth. And yes small block bell housing and smaller Dakota or 5.2, 5.9 starters from junk yards or auto parts store with a lifetime warranty.
Hi. Is that start wire you refer to on pin 30 of the black (C1) connector? Did you try to start it without energizing it? Did it by chance not fire up? Wondering if that’s my problem. Thanks.
Shelbydog I was able to connect my computer I started the engine but it turns off after 3 seconds of ignition my question is do I need a specific computer that does not have anti-theft or that type of computer does not need that system I am using the magnum 5.7l computer
Antonio, you’ll have to remove the skim security on the computer. I was able to find a used Mpv2 for $200 then remove the skim on my computer for 2 more credits or $100 more. So try to buy your own HP Tuner 1 or 2 device with some credits or send it off to someone to remove the security and turn off the unneeded functions. Look at the video from DIYHemi on how to do it yourself.
@@shelbydogg Sincerely, thank you very much, believe me, watching your videos has helped me a lot. I will finish doing some things in my jeep and then I will look for a way to solve the rest. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us.
Hey ShelbyDogg this video has been very helpful, do you have a diagram or a layout of a fusebox with the fuses and relays mapped out from that 09 harness you had? Thanks alot
@@cjs9477 I have a Hayden fan controller from EBay with an Ebay 70 amp relay running a $20 16” flexalite fan from a swap meet. The controller has a temp probe strapped to the back of the radiator fins to turn on the relay
Hi grest video. I´m Doing a hemi swap but I can not get my electronic throttle to work with the gas pedal. enging runs fine on idle. What tool did you use with your phone to do the Electronic throttle control ETC throttle follower test?
I have a qs. I’ve wired up a harness for a run stand I made. I have done a harness before for a swap. I have a 2010 Jeep Cherokee pcm and it doesn’t have a slot opening for the starter signal on the C1 (black) connector pin 30. Is there other ways in different pcm to show starter signal. I have the wiring diagrams for the Jeep. Thank you
looking to do a harness from a 2005-2008 jeep hemi. the ngc connectors are the same for the most part, what I can't find is the c100 connector info for the jeep hemi's. do you know what the equivilant plugs are for the jeeps?
Thank you for the video. I’m trying to trouble shoot mine right now. I can’t get it to run. It cranks. I had skim deleted. I have 12v and key on. And asd ground and power. Fp c3 37 to fp relay ground. You don’t know. Where I’m going wrong
2004-2008 5.7 and all 6.1 are basically all the same harness 5.7 changed the computer in 2009 when they added MDS and VVT and changed to the newer alternator. Only difference you might see for your 6.1 are a different connector for your cam or crank sensors, but you can change them.
For that plug ur plugging in at 7:15 I just did an engine swap on my challenger 2010 3.5 v6 the plug from the v6 won’t fit so someone tried to cut my v6 plug off and install rhe v8 plug my car won’t start this is the last thing stopping me is there a way to wire it any help would be appreciated thank you
Not sure if the “someone” that tried to put on the other plug got the wires connected to the right sensors, coils or injectors. You’re going to have to check it pin to pin and wire to wire to find out if each wire is going where it should go.
Hi. Questions on a 06 charger 5.7 the wire from capacitor its supposed to have 12v or ground . when i conect the capacitor to the head blow the ecm fuse
Use a test light. On end on battery+, other end on capacitor. It light lights up capacitor is shorted/bad. Capacitor hooks to 12v on same wire as coils and injectors.
Would u be able to find me a pin out for a Dodge Challenger 2010 se3.5 the person who did my swap didn’t transfer the jumper harness everything works besides the plug that comes from the ecu to engine harness like showen so he tried to wire the plug in on the harness and cut off my v6 connector that wouldn’t connect to the engine harness is there a way to wire up the v8 connector bc I have it wired up but won’t start I can hear all pumps when I crank over nothing I also have an wire on the starter to try to turn it over that way ans it works but it doesn’t start is there a way to get my car started and working thank you
There is one start wire that I talked about in the video. Mine wouldn’t start till I added 12 volts to it when I hit the stater button. I think Blake talks about this signal in his DIYHemi.com videos.
What’s up had a question I swapped from 5.7 to 6.1. I’m running 5.7 harnesses and pcm still I have code for egr since there is none on 6.1. I’m not able to get it smogged due to the check engine light for egr . Should I switch to a 6.1 PCM then tune it?
Ask the guys on the FB G3 Hemi Swap page. I think a tuner can turn off that option on your current PCM to not trip the light. You could program it out yourself if you had HP Tuners and their programmer. If not, you’ll have to pay someone to do it for you.
Hello, I would like to know if you can help me. I want to do a 4.7l 5.7l hemi swap in my 2002 jeep grand cherokee. Is it possible that you can help me with that? I have all the wiring and the 5.7l engine computer is from a 2005 dodge magnum r/t thanks 🙂
or if you can do my wiring and I just install it, tell me if it can be done and what would be the cost of doing it or I have all the wiring for the 5.7l dodge magnum I just need the cables that go to the relays and the ground to make it work
Yes I did. Look for my new video about adding a 100 ohm resistor between the can+ and can- wires when 2 of my PCMs didn’t want to talk to my readers if the wires were longer than 12”.
@@shelbydogg Thank you, did you have to use a clutch or prk/ntrl input for the engine to crank over? I'm making a harness myself and C3 Pin 23 is Prk/Ntrl, I've read that this is a ground input to the pcm letting it know that it can start. I cannot find if this is true or not on the internet
@@UpNorthCatsFan I’m in Kentucky for the Holley yearly Moparty so I can’t check my harness at home but I’m in my 5.7 Cuda. Which color connector are you asking about? I’ll check my harness here, but my video didn’t mention that pin anywhere, just the start wire I mentioned.
@@shelbydogg Thank you for the reply, this is pin 21 on the white connector. For automatics its labeled the Park/Neutral input, and on maunals cars its the clutch in input I believe
@@UpNorthCatsFan I would ground it through the Neutral start switch center pin or ground it with the clutch switch being depressed. You switched pins on me.
I can’t answer your question because I don’t know the answer. I do know that the crank timing wheel changed in 09 and you need a different computer or you can put the earlier wheel to put on the crank them just leave VVT and MDS unplugged
I have a question I just watched your video I have a 05 dodge magnum that had a 5.7 i swapped it out with a 6.1 from a 2009 Dodge Charger it came with the harness but not the pcm the harness was still connected to the engine so I installed it and plugged it up to my 5.7 pcm it’s getting nothing no crank no start…what should I do
Get that cheap ODB2 reader from Walmart made by Autel. That way you can see all of your signals. The 61 and 5.7 have similar sensors so if nothing else was changed besides the engine, the harness and PCM should be starting the 6.1. The reader in my videos was only $49 and let me see all kinds of signals to help you troubleshoot your no start problem. If you don’t like it you can return it to Walmart.
Ok I a u0100 code the is for the pcm not repsonding I’m getting a no crank no start I still have my 5.7 harness should I hook up my original harness up or keep the 6.1 harness plug to my 5.7 pcm
@@mykids0458 I would have tried the 5.7 harness first. Did the engine harness have the same connector? Could have a couple of pins different. Try the 5.7 harness and see what happens.
I never found that pin 38 info on my service manual. I’m trying to start my 2006 hemi with skim deleted pcm. I’m getting fuel pump power and the run wire is making it cycle and the throttle body. I’m cranking it just not getting injector pulse. I have nothing wired up to pin 38 on c1 though, do the pcms differ? Should I wire my pin 38 to what you said or would it burn something up? My pcm is from a 2006 Durango but this is kind of making me wonder.
I’m away on the Hot Rod PowerTour for the week, so can’t check to verify. If that’s the pin I mentioned in the video, I hook it to 12v with that button to start it.
@@jacksonn.2399 the button in my video was adding 12v to pin 30 when I cranked it. I don’t think I have anything on pin 38. Don’t hook anything up to 38 till I verify that when I get home next week. Try adding 12 to pin 30 when you crank your starter.
@@shelbydogg I have been getting 12 to pin 30, and still have not gotten anything. But I think I may have a problem elsewhere in my harness, and I’m gonna hunt that down. I may also hunt down a c100 type harness like you’ve shown because it just seems a bit more simple. I have a different type harness like a truck harness though also 2006. My service manual says nothing for pin 38 and that’s what I’m going to stay with as well, your video just made me wonder. Thank you for the input.
This is what I have on the (3) pin 38s. Good luck: ECU pin 38 Black connector pin 38 comes from ASD relay OUTPUT. Also connects to white connector’s pins 19 and 28, to capacitors, coils and injectors. Orange connector pin 38 goes to electronic throttle pin 5. White connector pin 38 grounds the stater relay so it goes to the ground side of the relay coil.
Do you mean starter engage at the starter relay? What do you mean by “ignition”? My panel button hooks directly to the starter but I mention that I had to send a 12v start signal to the cpu with that red button or it won’t start.
Put a little gas down one spark plug hole into each cylinder, then take a video of it trying to start then send it to me at shelbydogg@aol.com. Let me hear it. Keep it short
