Thanks for doing this video. I am totally an amateur on this so please keep that in mind. A little surprised that the G9 flipped regularly on you as haven’t seen it that much in my research. Also, my understanding in gel that the +P round is only going to give you 1/2” more of penetration compared to the standard pressure. And last but not least, supposedly gel as a medium with the G9 doesn’t show as significant a wound channel compared to flesh (fluid) when compared to JHP. My takeaway from everything I’ve seen makes me believe the G9 is better than it tests for the most part.
I'm part fudd so I still have my distrust until there is more street credit from law enforcement. I read your comment and got to thinking about it...those flutes...what good to they do when the bullet tumbles? Once the bullet tumbles, it is not doing anything more than an old full wadcutter bullet would do. (You may have to look those up...imagine shooting a small soup can.) I thought more about it more and realized my Daniel Defense H9 was not properly stabilizing the bullets. My Sig P365 on the other hand was handling those bullets without issues. (I have videos about that on my channel.) From the performance I saw, I can say it performed satisfactory and you'd be ok with carrying it from a 3-4 in barrel. I would recommend you buy extra and function and accuracy test it from your carry gun to make sure it will work for you and your gun. Thanks for the comment and don't worry about being an amateur! I ordered G9 for my carry ammo. I was sold on the fact that it doesn’t require expansion to cause an equal or greater cavity, it’s barrier blind, lighter weight, and it has consistent penetration. Expanding bullets have far more inconsistencies than any other bullet and even sometimes can get clogged turning it into an FMJ. Just that as a possibility alone told me that hollow points aren’t consistent enough to rely my life and subsequent freedom on.
As long as your gun gives good accuracy and acceptable point-of-aim to point-of-impact, I’d say you can rest easy that it will be consistent. Glad my video could be some help!
Thank you! I did the gel test and then tested the H9 for accuracy. I tried to quickly make the H9 pt3 video quickly so I could submit the link to the video with my warranty claim. All that to preface, no, I don't have the H9 back as of 04/03/2024. They've had my gun since 02/29/2024.
