A good shooter can shoot a crap rifle better than a crap shooter can shoot a good rifle, but shooting like this shows an absolutely incredible shooter with immaculate equipment. I am extremely impressed! That was incredibly well done!
Both versions serve as quick attach points for suppressors, and make good brakes as well. If you don't ever want to run a suppressor for sure, you can get slightly more effective brakes, but the Surefire will work great as solely a brake.
This was the video that GA Precision sent me when I first inquired about the GAP-10s they were making. Was stoked to see this rifle and yourself performing this well; just helped to reinforce how epic they are. Thanks for making the video, it was great.
I was just reading over your forum posts from way back on AR-15 about this video project when you initially started and there is a huge quality difference. This is your best video by far in my opinion. I was on the edge of my seat watching the 6mm bang 2in groups at 1000 yrds. I really hope to see more soon.
Gabe S, a good complete upper is going to run about 500.00. The GAP 10 is made specifically for GA Precision to their standards. A Bartlein barrel blank is going to run around 450 or so and then there is chambering it , contouring it and headspacing it. That can run anywhere from 300-600. A stripped lower is going to run about 350.00 a Geissle trigger runs about 275.00. Then you still have the handguard , the stock , the buffer tube , buffer tube spring , the grip , the rest of the lower parts kit , the gas tube. And other odds and ends. I would LOVE to see you build a rifle that is as good as the GAP 10 for half of what they are asking for.
Unbelievably fantastic.. two questions - hope you didn't already answer these: (1) You offer .260 rem in addition to 6.5 C? (I already have a .260 and want to keep things simple). And (2) What's the bbl length on that 6.5 C in the video?
Great vid....thought I'd point out whatever microphone your running for whatever reason is garbling the words badly. Right when the video gets to the point your shooting the sitting position it clears up. Then at the end at the last target during your final words, its garbled again. This while viewing from my phone...so who knows maybe its something on my end.
The 6.5 is simply superior at longer ranges. I shot with this cartridge not only because of this reason, but to also show that accuracy is consistent from gun to gun. Perhaps in the future I will get to do more work with the guns. (This was my summer internship and I am now back at school)
Muzzle diameter on 16" & 18" barrel ? .338 SureFire brake adapter is .890 ID Dustin tells me it will nit work that barrel is too small? The .338 brake is listed as a GAP 10 option on the GA Precision site . SureFire said smaller is fine as is larger as you can turn it down . What am I missing here? Seems you just do the 3/4-24 thread pitch install and index the brake and its should be good to go so I can use my .338 can. Thank you in advance for your response, trying to get my order in.
The 6mm Creedmoor is superior at all ranges and just easier to shoot well, especially at 1000 yards. The 308 could do that same, as you saw from the 100 yard groups, but it would be more susceptible to wind. We simply wanted to show the accuracy capable at long range, and that from rifle to rifle they are consistently accurate.
It's not a problem on your end, but something about my microphone, youtube, and mobile devices doesn't work. I've contacted youtube multiple times, but no response, and I cannot figure out what could solve the problem.
I'm curious as to why the .308 cal was not shot out to 1,000 yds but a 6.5 creedmore was shot in its place . Will you repeat the same shots with a .308 cal ?
looking to buy a sniper type rifle. when the shit hits the fan will the G.A. Precision GAP-10 be the gun to get in a real life or death out come is there somthing out there better than that gun you might recommend or is this the best.
SCB Just ordered a GAP 10 and changed the muzzle brake to a Surefire 3 pronged flash hider suppressor adaptor. I'm wondering if the brake is a better choice?
Hi, I'm new to the 7.62(.308) world and am very interested in ordering one of these rifles. Can you help me understand more about the Surefire Muzzle Brake on the rifle in this video. I'm following a thread over on Sniper's Hide and most guys order with this Brake and not the Smaller SFMB-762 Socom version. Does this longer version slip over the end of the barrel? Why do most choose this brake and if I didn't run a suppressor with this longer surefire version, will it be ok? Thanks!
Actually not true at all - just the opposite is true. I've been shooting for many many years, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that you canNOT outshoot your equipment - it's impossible. But a novice with some basic instruction and a crosshair can shoot an accurate rig *very* well. This is from first-hand experience, mind you.
We've been shooting the DPMS out ot 1,000 yds and get a 2 moa group on 5 mph days with .308 factory ammo. Your lead in title stated a .308...then you switch to a 6.5....isn't that known as " Bait and Switch " in advertising ? Seriously...next chance you get...shoot the 308 out to the 1,000 yd target...we are definitley interested in that rifle Check out my videos and you'll see why Good luck in school and keep up the 4.0 gpa, with the shooting eye that you have school work should be a breeze
must be a typo.. that group highly suggests a 100 yards range, not 1000. Otherwise this guy and his rifle would be an F Class champion beating out most bench rest custom rifles. Come on.
+tzotzo I do have years of competitive shooting experience. Of course a 1/2 moa group isn't typical at 1000 yards, but it happened on camera. You can check out any of my other videos, posted one a few months ago shooting a 6mm Creedmoor to 1400 yards.
well my congrats then, that is quite an excellent performance. BTW, for good performance out to say 1200 yards, which cartridge around the 6mm size would you recommend? 6.5CM 6CM ...? Thanks for your advice.
6mm Creedmoor is going to be superior in most ways, perhaps you give up a tad bit of wind drift at longer ranges, but you get less recoil and it is easier to spot your shots.
+Sergeant Farva Can I get you a liter of cola? You can check out my other videos if you like to see my shooting experience, there's plenty of trace to watch. I also have years of competition shooting experience.
Did you watch on your phone? For some reason my recording equipment doesn't play well on mobile devices, but should on a desktop. Not a marine at all, just a regular guy who has practiced a lot.
