In this video, we look at what the new flow profiling kit for your Gaggia Classic Pro from Barista Gadgets can do. It comes with a sweet new, larger display, with two additional connections for a potentiometer and voltage regulated pump control. Plus, the ability to set profiles of the pump power, so you can experiment with pre-infusion, blooming, allonge, and try to mimic whatever profile you like.

Hi Tom, I like your informative video's. You might consider stirring your cups before drinking, to mix all solubles.

Ahhh Tom, very nice video! I‘ve just started my coffee journey. I actually wanted to jump in with an espresso machine, but then decided to develope my sensory skills, whilst getting to know some pour over methods. Because there is such a vast variety of espresso machines and I woudn‘t know where to tune in, I planned the 2. step to be, getting a used Gaggia Classic pro + mod. So, after this video, to me it‘s quite clear what the journey‘s going to look like. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for this. I really like how you approach these reviews.

This kit is connected to the solenoid valve of the machine, excellent, no need for springs to change the working pressure.🧐👍

Well, it's connected to the pump, and limits the voltage, so it ultimately limits the flow. But yes, the pressure should be controllable so that the gate that the spring would provide is likely not an issue anymore.

Lower water debit is usually a bad idea as the bottom of the puck doesn’t get saturated until late in the shot. At least that’s the way lance hendrik explained it in his pressure and flow video. He was really speaking to the pre infusion side of things but also as a general statement on extraction.

I would agree with that. You have to make sure that you have enough water debit to get the puck saturated, so you do have to play with the Settings. Sometimes, I had the water debit too low, and it was not a properly extracted puck. So beware that you will need to experiment.

Hello Tom. Great video. Could you please share your opinion why do one need all this kind PIDs if there's much better options like Gaguino projects?
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 7 дней назад
Well, as I understand this is easier to install because there is no firmware to deal with, flashing of hardware, or programming required. The original builds of the Gagguino required digging into such material. I don't know if newer kits have simplified the process yet. Maybe someone else can speak to that.

Hey Tom! Great video once again! Do you have any suggestions on where to purchase the Gaggia CP, preferably within the EU? In my country it appears to be out of stock and in the few shops that it is available, it is massively overpriced (450 euros and more). Thanks in advance!

Which country? I would suggest avoiding the Evo by the way, until they figure out the boiler coating issue.

The only influence it has is on the voltage of the pump, and it switches the potential to the heating coils too, but all PID kits do that. I suppose one would have to see if there's any long term effects of limiting the voltage on the pump.

I take it this does cannot connect to Bluetooth scales to stop shots based on weight?
@TomsCoffeeCorner

No, there is no Bluetooth chip on this controller.

what's the capacity of the cup you're using? Is that a 120ml cup?
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 6 дней назад
No, it's like 80ml to the brim.

I would rather get a PWM controller for the flow control than a PID, for a machine that cannot do flat temperature before and during the shot, set to a 96c or whatever the temperature doesn't do much to the shots.
