Hi Patrick. Another great video. It helps people a lot with their productivity around Apple ecosystem. Congratulations on passing 1k subs. With your dedication and useful videos, 100k will be in no time. Have a good day.
Hi Patrick, at 5:40 you mention that on Macs drag and drop doesn’t create a link to the mail message. In my experience it does work if you drag it into an iCloud calendar event. This also works on an iPhone or iPad when dragging and dropping; and the links created from one device work on the other devices (I guess subject to your other comment about ensuring relevant mailboxes are downloaded on various devices)
Great catch. Indeed with an iCloud calendar a link will be created. I tested it with an Office 365 calendar and no link was created there. So it depends on where the calendar is stored. The best experience is if you stay in the Apple ecosystem. Typical Apple. Thanks for the addition.
Hi Patrick, your videos are so great! Have you found a way to stop Apple email from notifying about new emails in the junk folder? I can’t fathom why apple would include the junk folder in notification which are important when you use apple mail for work 😮 yet there is no option to select only the inbox for notification, and I can’t find any fix anywhere…. but I can’t be the only one annoyed about it, can I ? 😂
I don't have that problem at all. Could it be that your Junk Folder is loaded in the background. Check out Settings - Mail - Accounts - Fetch New Data - Go into your specific mail account - Make sure that your Junk Folder is NOT ticked here. Then the junk mail should not load in the background and should not bother you with notifications.
Dear Patrick, Thank you very much for another nice video. My extended email link get pasted but it isn't clickable link?? How can I make it clickable link? Additionally I am using the trial version of Keyboard Maestro. Will these scripts still work after the trial expires? (I think they should). Thank you for your guidance.
For the extended version (including sender and subject line) the app must support Markdown links. Apple Notes and Mail don’t support that. Apps like Obsidian do. So it depends on the app you insert it into, whether it supports Markdown. Any standard Markdown editor will work. Apples own apps unfortunately not. For them you can use the simple (elink) version and change the subject within the app (like in Apple Notes). Also I am unsure whether Keyboard Maestro will still trigger the script once your trial is over.
Just got the confirmation from keyboard maestro team "Macros won't work after trial expiry" we need an active subscription of keyboard maestro for these macros to work. Thanks
Dude!! lol now you're mining Apple Mail for secret tips and hacks?? 😂 I totally loved your Voice Recorder video (didn't know I had all those options on the Mac). Will comment again once I finish this video.
Actually, I think the "hack" with the mail settings to finally get links working across devices is pretty unique. Haven't found that somewhere else so far. More to come ...
