I just want to say that Joerg is such an amazing guy. It's not very often you'll find a guy using his creation and finding fault with it to the point that he'll want to do it better- then shows you how to do it better. Ibought some of his creations because they're fun and my family and I like to have fun with them. Thanks for showing me the features.
Joerg was just arrested in the biggest right wing terrorist case germany has ever seen. He was the armorer for a group trying to overthrow the german government in an unprecedented coup attempt. I'm surprised his channel is still up on youtube.
Joerg you are a wonderful weapons developer that chooses quality and reliable function over anything else. Most manufacture developers focus on profits and sacrifice everything else
@@krockpotbroccoli65 Thought more about Hiram Maxim, the guy inventing the Maxim Machine Gun. Those things were built different, when the Brits decided to get a morenkodern system, they tortured one of their Maxim based Vickers Machine Guns and just blast rounds through it until they ran out of ammo, spare barrels or the gun just died. Well, they blasted through all 5 million rounds they had within 7 days, firing the regular 250 round belt size and changed the barrels every hour or so. The gun was just fine and looked like it could another 5 million rounds without breaking a sweat.
Hey Jörg, nice Bolts... Steambow recently launched new Carbon Bolts as well (For example the new steambow bodkin weights 15g), they are also pretty good and no longer bend, furthermore they aren't too expensive...the tips on your saxon warbolts look impressive, cant wait to get my hands on them for testing. Good times for pistol crosbow fans, keep up your good work:)
Thank you very much Jörg for mentioning my channel in the video. And it has to be mentioned that your part in the development of the non-automatic safety mechanism for the Vlad was bigger than you said in the video.
Nice to see others finally coming up with these type of bolts, i have been making and selling these for around 2 years, they are very popular. I use the Anglo Arms bolts are my main base and hardened steel tips like those you used Joerg, the anglo arms bolts are extremely durable in my opinion, personally i prefer the aluminium shafts (not the ones you showed) from experience the ones i use last a lot longer than the aluminum shafts you showed or the carbon ones like adder bolts that can break on the first shot sometimes. My aluminium / abs vanes broadhead bolts will go through coconuts and thin steel plates too and with out any bending (also i think it becuase the anglo arms ones are thicker walled that the ones shown here.
Where most people look at gear like bolts and arrows as a disposable price in hunting, Joerg sees the opportunity to correct a problem and update a product!. Personally living in the US with many options I have never really been interested in these types of small bows but Joerg makes them look so damn cool and fun I have to try them out. Very interested if anyone has first hand experience in hunting with the pistol crossbow and what they hunted and how it went.
Rabbits, turkey, pheasants are pretty much a good target audience for the pistol crossbows. I mainly mess around with it just for fun target practice because throwing a ball at a wall gets boring after a while haha.
Small bows are easily disguised to the point that they ca be thought of concealable. And under a winter coat, they are. And a very effective quiet close-quarters weapon for those times when tactics require that you don't loudly advertise your position the first time you defend yourself or deliver a hit. Just sayin'.
These have been a long time coming. I can't begin to calculate the number of rickety bolts I've seen bounce into pieces without even doing their job. Best of Days.
We needed something like this. It's like a long bodkin. Weapon collector out of England makes 280 gr. Broadhead bolts that are thicker than these. But they can't fit the mag feed pistol bows. This is a very relevant innovation for magazine feed crossbow pistols.
I live in Alaska, and in our home, we hunt for much of our meat. This will allow a much more instant and humane option for harvest. We use sling weapons for small game much of the time. I have never been comfortable with just an impact weapon, such as a slingshot. (No matter how expertly used) Most if not all of these animals are within 10 meters as they rely on camouflage and freezing in place, to throw off predators with less than great olfactory centers. The combination of differences in available firepower and properly designed (and reusable\durable broadhead bolts) completely change the playing field. To harvest an animal and not alert\terrify the rest of their group with air rifle or firearm report, makes it easy to continue the husbandry of the land while not chasing off the population of game. Truly, and above all; I wish to say I appreciate your continued testing and research. If you'd be so inclined, I would also appreciate you telling me which; in your opinion is the most reliable and well-built repeater bow. I honestly mean properly built. It's going to take quite a beating in my hands. I will be honest in the review of its performance in the field. Though our winters are severe, our care of tools is taken more seriously than I can say. So, it will be properly cared for even on the worst of days. Pick a fully constructed model and I will put it (the model you choose) through every situation we encounter; in all weather during this winter and repeatedly throughout the next year or two. If you wish, I will include harvest photos, and narration of the way for each. If picatinny rails are a part of construction of the model chosen, video will be forthcoming.
I am a casual watcher of RU-vid. I don't go to a channel and watch their content. I subscribe to channels so that RU-vid will suggest them and line them up in my feed. If it's not in my home page I don't see it and pretty much forget that it exists. That said, I haven't had one of these videos come around in years. I always enjoyed thee and have been impressed by the level of intelligence, and craftsmanship. I'm glad it came back around.
Infectious enthuziasm as always! I was surprized to see alu bend so easily, I probably shouldn't have been. I wonder if a stiff wood dowel epoxied to fill the hollow in the aluminium tube would be worth it for those on a budget with a good few aluminium shaften quarrels? If you're shooting even a modest distance to the mat/target having a full quiver makes a big difference.
What a great upgrade Joerg 👍I have been building arrows for close to 15 years now, and Carbon is by far the more superior material to use for higher poundage pistol crossbows. The same goes for the type of tips used for whatever the bolts are used for. Practice or hunting, the weight of the bolt should remain the same weight, so that the weapon can perform at its most optimum efficiency. Glad to see you working on really quality stuff for your already popular bows Sir. Keep up the great content, and wishing you continued success 😇🙏🏹🏹👍
Why keep the weight of the bolt same? Hight draw weight should use higher weight bolts. For instance, 90lbs draw weight i would use 12gram bolts. What you think?
Yes that's the way to do it, I did my bolts for my series 2 Cobra crossbow, but with the super sharp blue hunting tips that I bought separately from wish, and add led tail lights 😄 but they penetrated 12mm plywood.
I only buy Saxon war bolts these days. The bodkin's are nice, but the war bolts are my go too bolt now. great channel, love the reviews and helped me buy my Steambow a few months back.
Aluminium shafts are better when thicker. It's a matter of how thick the walls of the tube are. But fit very thin arrows stainless steel is pretty much the best
Tim Wells shoots a smaller version of those in his blow gun! He's killed a black bear with it and its half it's size, hes taken goats, baboons! I have a bow and used to use full metal jackets from Easton arrows and just from the impact on target they did bend and never used them again! Carbon is the best way to go! I've seen your videos like 4 years ago, you are a really smart guy and seeing your inventions is pretty cool! Glad to see ya still making videos buddy! Cheers!
Definitely need these, the amount of aluminium bolts I get through I should save a small fortune on these carbon fibre ones, and get a lot more use out of them!
Imagine you're a deer having a good day somewhere in the woods, minding you business, and suddenly in the distance you hear "LET ME SHOW YOU IT'S FEATURES. AHHAHAHAH"
Yes I cut regular aluminum bow & arrow shafts just a little longer than the 80lb single shot pistol crossbow melted lead filled in hollow shaft & put a 4 blade broad head on it. Smackdown / penitration was great 10-15 yards after that we'll it suck.
When I switched from recurve to a compound bow with cams, I had to replace all my cedar shafts with aluminum because they were exploding mid air from the power increase. I have the cobra system, and other than a small manufacturer defect, the thing rocks. It’s light, and breaks down enough to be packed. I do think the bow strings could be made from steel cable, for longevity.
Obviously you know this but if you can spin the bolt really rapidly whilst it's sitting in the firing groove before it leaves the bow, that will further improve stability and accuracy. Like how car tyres are used at fairgrounds on rides to speed up or slow things down. That could that be used to spin the bolt up to speed and then to "throw" the bolts instead of a cocking arm and string, two tyres, one each side of the bolt, to shoot it and one to the top or bottom to spin it. All in a nice seamless transitioning movement. You know! Just throwing ideas out there. But for all intents and purposes still keeping it within the technicalities of the law as a strung bow?? Just with "Let Me Show You Its New Features"! 👍
That was brilliant using Carbon Fiber - Our material science has come a long way and this demonstrates that. I assume that the tips might even be made, so they can be replaced - or saved, from a damaged bolt?
Hi Joerg, those look very well thought out , make German engineering great again. LOL Maybe also consider adding fullers to your arrow blade? What you've shown in the video looks like the Arrowheads were machined, maybe drop forging would be the way to go in manufacturing?
Use Natures carbon fiber bamboo,......2 feathers and Chinese glue on broadheads. You can find them as Tomato stakes at Dollar General,....landscaping stakes at Lowes or Home Depot.
Nice bolts, well engineered, look effective and sturdy. I wonder, however, if there would be merit in having a steel shaft. Thus giving you a much heavier bolt. Sure, it flies slower, but stopping power and penetration should be improved.
Todd's Workshop recently completed a test of a medieval warbow against a properly made armour chest plate... It did not go through, though there was more armour than a chestplate, the test showed you could penetrate the metal as a flat on to you simple flat plate, but not once properly shaped, which was extraordinary! That chest piece you have is display/larping I would suspect, car door thickness.... Though in this day and age you'd be facing Kevlar, anti-stab and ceramics as 'armour'. Looks like a nice bolt :)
Pistol crossbows won't ever have a chance to go through real plated armor. I did this test to see how sturdy the tips are. They did well, don't you think?
Love his videos & the way he engineers new & innovative products. I wish I could find out if it’s legal to order one in my state. The laws are very confusing here.
Love them! But anyway you can make them colored for those of us who sometimes miss the target. The black ones look so cool, but I will end up searching for hours for them.
Somebody tried to get a launcher for SRS guns checked by BKA, but they did not make a pin in the barrel, so they had no chance. It is in the Bundesanzeiger.
