@@femtrooper God of War is very recommended. If you start with 2018, make sure to at least read some about the ps2 games. It will make you enjoy 2018 game even more.
Love your channel....as a 61 year old veteran gamer, I am having an absolute blast with paper mario, which I am playing with my 6 year old granddaughter...
Man, the Spider-Man games are ones that I REALLY need to get to. He was always the superhero I liked the most, by far, and those games look pretty sweet!
Spider-Man is the best!!! He’s my fav and the games are a ton of fun. Good story and fun gameplay. Worth trying out for sure! They are a nice break from JRPGs!
Here I am telling myself I’m doing enough to get through Xenoblade 2, and you just plowed through three of these games in your time off. I need to step up my game. Deeply impressed.
I've been playing paper mario thousand year door as well, I haven't touched it since i got it for the gamecube back in the day. It's still a great game, very much a classic. Spider-man 2 is also awesome!
Paper Mario HYPE!! Great work on getting through these recent games of yours, I'll definitely be 100% completing the TTYD Remake, I just love that game so much!
Love these updates and still cannot believe how fast you pound through, amazing! Just finished re-playing through ffxv (the bro show) hopping onto Star Ocean the Second Story R. :)
Love your content, Paige! Granblue reminds me a lot of the White Knight Chronicles series in that you have a main story and then you need to play multiplayer. It's a shame, because eventually Granblue will end up getting server shutdowns like White Knight Chronicles did. :(
I understand why granblue is considered mid as a regular jrpg. But as a monster hunting game , I love it. I have over 100 hours in going and diving deep into the end game. In my top 3 games this year
@@femtrooper I'm about 5 hours in right now. The turn based battles are really fun and satisfying. Good balance of difficulty too. I started with the dancer and now I'm working through the story of the merchant. So far, these two characters are really likable. I can feel myself starting to get hooked for sure.
At Friday I've beat Crisis Core FF7 Reunioun. I've played many FF games, and that's the first one I've beaten ...which plays exactly like Kingdom Hearts 😅. Great game. I've played ps1 FF7 up to yhe end of disc 1, and Crisis Core does the build-up as a prequel really good, despite the short story time it has. Now I'm playing Pokemon Emerald again, and damn, the game still holds up today really good.
I just beat Paper Mario TTYD myself, and it was my second mario rpg (the first being the super mario rpg remake) Great experience! I agree with the pacing issue, but I didn't really mind the backtracking personally, my issue was the mandatory cutaway to Peach/Bowser at the end of every chapter. I liked the content of the peach/bowser cutaways but the frequency and placement of them feels like it pulls me away from the game and really killed the momentum that had been built up by the dungeon and boss fight. I LOVED the ending especially, super satisfying wrap up and my playthrough clocked in at just over 40hrs
I just finished playing Spiderman 2 Sunday and loved it! I think it really looked great overall but I agree with you; something about the faces were just slightly off. It didn't hurt the game experience for me but I did find myself staring at the faces occasionally to figure out what was wrong.
I love how you complete so many games with being a mom and all you do. I have a hard time completing games in general. I enjoy seeing your takes on games. Thank you.
I’ve been playing baldurs gate 3 right now and am loving it. It gets tough when you only have an hour or so of time to play each night, but I’m getting through it
I'm so glad you included Spiderman 2 on this list! I got a Spiderman 2 PS5 for Christmas from my wife and I've been scared to actually play the game because it did get some negative reviews from some wet blankets. I've been playing Chrono Cross (just beat it) and Star Ocean Second Story R (90% through). So I might finally give Spiderman a try to take a brief break from jrpgs lol
Been playing Harvestella, getting toward the end! I wasn't expecting to get attached to the characters and the people that you help during side quests but I have. Excited to see how the story ends! 😁
Sounds like you knocked out some really great games! I’m currently working on Shadowrun Returns and Pathfinder: Kingmaker. I’m really digging CRPGs right now and plan to play a ton more this year.
You beat some great games there. I’m interested in GranBlue Fantasy but I’m holding off for a bigger price drop considering it is a shorter game…and I got a bunch of other stuff to play. I totally agree with you about Paper Mario Thousand Year Door. Haven’t beaten it yet (Chapter 4) but I wish they just warped you back to main town or the door. Other than that I’m digging it! Great video!
Monster Hunter Stories on PS5! As a fan of Monster Hunter I am so glad I am playing this again years later after initially finishing it on 3DS, Capcom have done a good job upscaling the graphics and making it playable with modern controls. I am really looking forward to jumping into Stories 2 at some point.
Yay it's a new video!! So I have been playing Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door remake, Unicorn Overlord I am about half way through it now, started back playing Monark because it was hard to get into it at first, Ty The Tasmanian Tiger HD because I never played the originals before and I am loving it,such a great platformer this game is. I am going to start playing Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble today because I love that series and am very excited to finally have a new one after all these years! Loved to see all the games you are playing too and I hope that one day I can get you on a collab video or something talking about games when I start my own channel here.
Hey, GBF Relink! The story is short, the focus was more on Multiplayer. As a MonHun fan, it scratched the same itch as a new MH would. Speaking of MonHun, I'm playing stories right now and am reminded of why I love the game. I'm also playing Honkai Star Rail and Wuthering Waves on the side.
I played and beat Stellar Blade. Absolutely beautiful ❤ Paper Mario the thousand year door. I’m near the end but taking a break. And finally I’m playing SMT V Vengeance. Every Smt game is a big moment for me so that’s my main priority right now haha.
great video. ive been playing SMT V Vengeance, and loving it. definitely needed that extra story. also been chipping away at persona 3 reload on my ROG Ally. i love it, but it demands your full attention, and i like watching TV when i game 😅
Such a good feeling to knock games off the backlog! I played 4 visual novels this year so I really needed a change of pace, and have been loving Skyward Sword as a way to get into the Zelda mindset for Echoes of Wisdom!
I also started Skyward Sword recently. I never bothered with it when it first came out since I wasn't a fan of forced motion controls, but the HD remake is really good.
I played Granblue when we found out our landlord was selling up and we had to find somewhere else to live at short notice, and I definitely agree Granblue is mid but because of what I was going through it was kind of the perfect surface-level JRPG to lose myself in. I don't think I could have handled anything else more involved or complicated. It's still mid but it served a great purpose for me. Currently I'm still working through Rebirth (108 hours, chapter 13!) and I started Paper Mario 64 in anticipation of working my way through the series
I beat all of those you mentioned, I liked paper mario and spider man a lot, granblue fantasy I felt could’ve been a cheaper price for the game considering it’s over pretty fast. Right now I’m playing breath of fire III ps1 and I gotta say of that 90s era jrpg it’s one of the best
I have been revisiting some older games on my backlog such as Fallout 4 and Elden ring. On switch I am currently working on Octopath Traveler 1 still lol. I really want to get Paper Mario the Thousand year door for the switch.
A couple of games I've been playing recently are: Silent Hill 2 Metal Gear Solid 3 Sand Land Paper Mario LoZ Phantom Hourglass I like a blend of old and new.
I have finished DMC5 and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Both very fun games. Now I’m onto FFXII Remaster and Super Mario 3D World. The plan is to fully prepare for a FFXVI playthrough and to catch up on Mario games.
Yay! I just beat Cold Steel 4. First run that took over 162 hours!! Taking a bit of a breather and reorganizing the backlog. That way I can figure out my next three to play.
Started Y’s VIII and enjoyed it quite a bit. I just finished SMT V but I’m taking a break from jrpgs (after finishing two WHOLE Atlus games) to play others such as (the) Metroid Prime Trilogy. Actually excited to knock out a few from the backlog, I will keep away from 90 hour titles for a little while 😂 I see you though DQ IX 😅
I played the first PS4 Spider-Man game a few months ago and was shocked how much I enjoyed it. I would rate the story as being about as good honestly as any of the Spider-Man movies,it supervised me how much I got wrapped up in the story and how much it made me feel! I’m also finally starting to want a PS5 now lol. Used to be I wanted lots of consoles the day they came out but these days I usually wait up to several years after one is launched before I take a serious look. Except Nintendo… Nintendo can hav4 my money yesterday sadly 😂
*Since all the new games are mid this year, i've been playing mostly older titles...GTA4, Bully, Tokyo 42, AC2, Fallout NV, Ninja Gaiden 3, Lightning Returns, Party Hard, Tekken 6....its amazing how much better single player games use to be* 🙌
Where do you get a PS Vita lanyard??? I’m about to finish (I think) Sky the 3rd and have now grown rather attached to mine Otherwise thanks for the vid, appreciate the succinct/straightfwd takes
Great video! Paper Mario is going ok. Have been playing with my son and he's liked walking around which is fun. I definitely feel the pacing isn't quite right though. I just can't get into the game to be honest!! I still need to play Spiderman 2. I don't feel super compelled to play it, so I might wait until it comes to steam. And gran blue was just not for me. I couldn't get into it whatsoever. I feel you there!
Speaking of gorgeous games that are mid, I've been playing FF13 for the first time recently. It's the only mainline entry I hadn't tried (MMOs notwithstanding), so I figured I'd give it a shake.
Actually, funny enough I really like FF13! I want to finish it one day but I almost got to the end and really enjoyed it! It’s super messed up but fun!
Definitely agree with the SM2 character models looking like they got down-graded - and that's not just a MJ reference, but just a lot of the cut-scenes looked off. Overall I think the story wasn't as good as the previous games, and the writing was definitely a lot more forced; less naturalistic. It has some stand-out moments, and I have to say the final battle was pretty annoying (like they had to over-compensate from some pretty lame bosses in previous games). Having said that, it was still a good solid game, and you can't go past the swinging through NYC... until you get the
Still have to play granblue...a little disappointed i can't bring my ps5 to work but oh well.....by the way are you going to play the remakes of the erdrick trilogy???i have the originals on switch but i can't wait for the remake
Still have to beat your first two picks, the backlog is abysmal🤧,dragons dogma 2 & stellar blade took most of my time (beat both) currently playing SMT vengeance & monster hunter stories 1.
I wanted more out of Granblue Fantasy relink. It is based on a mobile game, which I eventually dropped because of how repetitive it was. And unfortunately the endgame in Relink is repetitive too, and it doesn't do well to introduce the characters. The story just felt like an afterthought. I get what they were going for: most of the people who play that game only care about the post-game which harkens to Monster Hunter in terms of its gameplay loop: farming the same encounters over and over for a chance at materials to upgrade equipment and then go back into the same fights again, but on a harder difficulty. I get that, but it isn't for me.
I'm planning to play Granblue soon, I played Versus on PS Plus years back and watched the first season of the anime, and I bought the game recently. I want to play a short game like that to slowly and maybe possibly get me back into JRPGs again. Those bosses sound like it could piss me off. RPG bosses tend to be massive difficulty spikes. Spider-Man 2 has good gameplay and has improved combat over the previous games but the story....is a mess. I got a number of issues with it. Particularly how most of the villains in the first game and Miles got killed off screen, how Norman Osborn is no longer the mayor and is just a one note character and especially how we don't even see who replaced Norman or just how much the game tries to juggle like probably 3 different plotlines at once. I do think Venom is an okay villain but I think that character is overhyped and people only like him because he looks cool rather than because he's interesting. The X-Men villain Mr. Sinister has a cooler look and has more character than wanting to get revenge on Peter or being a Punisher knockoff. I'm planning to buy 1000 Year Door, but that is because for some reason I just kind of for the lack of a better term "love" buying random Nintendo games at full price despite them not really living up to the hype that much. I do enjoy the ones I played for the most part.
Hey Femtrooper hope you're having a great week so far! Let's see the games I've been playing is Stellar Blade and Shin Megami Tensei V. Vengeance. And I've been working so much and have a weird schedule that I come home at like 2 a.m. and go to sleep, then on my days off all I do is sleep. Ahh so I need to make time. I know it's bad. But I guess it's the mid thirties kicking my butt! Lol no but seriously Shin Megami Tensei V. Vengeance is really fun so far it's a little hard but definitely fun. And Stellar Blade is a fun game too. I just am so tired I fall asleep when I'm trying to play. So I can't say much on it. But it has beautiful graphics and the combat is great and fast paced. Anyways that's the games I've been playing at the moment. You're video was great by the way as always I really enjoy your content. Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door looked really cool! I kinda wish I wouldn't of sold my Switch now. I could keep rambling on forever. You have a wonderful day and your hair looked good straight today. Take care Paige and I can't wait until your next video.
Honestly, I feel like Spider-Man games just have really terrible face animations since the first one. I also just have a thorn in my side because I got the Spider-Man PS5 that was supposed to come with the second game and the game didn't work no matter how many times I called Sony.... on top of the fact that my disc for Miles also didn't work. Like? I've never had so many issues with new games.
I been playing stellar blade. Its a really fun game the graphics and character models were good can see why there is all that controversy(eventhough its completely stupid.if you dont like it dont play it)and the combat is really fun in fact its the main reason. My gripe about it is the platforming is between meh and frustrating at times but thats probably because i suck at platforming games lol😅
Games of the year for me so far grandblue fantasy fate samurai remnant actually about to start the dlc chapters to that one this weekend and most likely tekken 8 sometime soon huge fan of the franchise really wanting to hop on the new one as a special needs young adult
well done :) I gave up on Xenoblade. I don't like the combat. I ended up seeing the rest of the story/cutscenes from the first and second game and I enjoyed it a lot more. As for what have been playing. I am playing four games, Animal crossing new horizon, Bayonetta 2, Shin megami tensei 3 nocturne and Virche evermore error salvation. I am really enjoying my time with all off them, even shin megami tensei, even if I had to download "merciful" difficulty after having my ass beat by a DLC boss, standing in my way of moving along the story. My copy is physical so it comes with the DLC so I have not been able to turn off these monster, which is a bit sad, because merciful is a lot easier then easy is. It is taken a lot out of the battles for me, but it is still a enjoyable game, so far.
@@femtrooper I think Shin megami tensei 3 is a pretty nice place to start :) I liked playing on easy, but DLC got in my way, so if you find easy to be to hard, then just download merciful then you will have no problem going through story :)
I'm starting to wonder if action RPGs just aren't your thing, mostly. I know you liked Star Ocean Divine but most others you thought were pretty okay at best. Just a thought.
