Shirley Manson is an artist who always played with her sexuality and has many lyrics that talk about it, Androgyny-Queer, other cute songs to react to and another one that I recommend to you is the song that was part of the soundtrack of one of the James Bond movies - The World is Not Enough or Tell Me Where it Hurts
Er I think you're getting terms mixed up. Shirley Manson wasn't experimenting with her sexuality, she was always heterosexual but she was very fond of the gay community and dedicated a few songs to the community. A lot of the songs were inspired by a book called "Deadwood" by Peter Dexter. I think what you mean is that Shirley played around with Gender expression if you're talking about her look where she was trying a more masculine appearance in the early 2000s before "Bleed Like Me" came out.
Use to work security in some strip clubs. This song was one of the most played songs by the dancers along with Def Leppard Pour Some Sugar On Me. Also amazing how many women love and have heard this song, then watch the video and go OMG in the last 10secs
Garbage is one of my fav bands from the nineties. Please, react to "crying for no reason by Katy B. One of the most meaningful lyrics I have listened to. Please, please, please. Love your analysis!
Great reaction, you really picked up the theme of the song really quickly. One wonders what Shirley Manson's home life was like especially after watching Terminator, The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
This is about a male--to-female person.... probably in transition. They are born this way, like all of us are born whatever way. I love how open to music you are India... you're one of the reasons why many create music. Just a thought. Peace. 3:)
Being a big Garbage fan, the lyrics are great. However, the bubblegum pop feel mixed with Shirley's sped up vocals that make her sound like Britney (or some other 90s pop diva) are the reasons why I don't dig the studio version of this song so much. Between 2006-2012, I burned multiple mixed CD's that included every song from 'beautifulgarbage' but this one. I prefer the natural live version of Cherry Lips. Interesting note about the Cherry Lips video: the band doesn't shy away from expressing their dislike for it. There was supposed to be a different concept and director but this was what they were forced into making.
It's talking about a Trans girl. "You're such a delicate boy" Living in a hysterical world An emotional launch slide. This entire song is about a Trans girl. She didn't stick around (because she was transitioning)
Thank you for choosing this song❤️ I always thought it was about a boy who followed his happiness by dressing as woman and she was cheering him on for his courage. Bare in mind that I knew nothing of the trans community as a tween back in the day. Later on "bought yourself a second chance" made me think that Cherry Lips had the gender surgery to become a woman.
This is how you break filters ;) you cant play anything illegal in countries if they cant see you. You really have to read between the lines with their lyrics. There is an underlying reason for every word said and it is not always innocent. Most are about something society considers taboo. The child was underaged....
Fell in love with the song first time I heard it. However, I didn´t understand english at that point so I guess the hook was not caused by the lyrics. Now, as an adult, I came to certain understanding that Garbage was/is an enormous band. I mean, this song got to be in the mainstraim of non english speaking countries around the world with a hate culture against trans people. In some way, you may consider this song as a contribution to the LGBTQ+ fight.
Yeah, the song is about a guy living as a woman and all the guys swoon for him/her. Yeah. It's called human existence. Been around since before gods were invented by cavemen.
I love this song, don't get me wrong. But it's about a transgender dude. "You're such a delicate boy." Plus "so you BOUGHT yourself a second chance." Idk, must have gotten the surgery.
