Winter's coming! You need to start putting away that garden hose and winterizing your spigots. But it's stuck onto your spigot's hose bib and you can't get it off no matter how hard you try.
You can try spraying with a lubricant and various other methods, but if it's an aluminum host connection it's probably not going to come off.
Here's a step-by-step process for not only removing your hose from the faucet, but also replacing the connector. By the end of this quick tutorial, you'll know how to remove your garden hose, create a watertight seal, and never have it get stuck again!

Thank you!!! It worked!!! I’m an older and disabled woman that lives alone. Plus I have very little strength in my hands but I still managed to get that darn thing off by using your method!👍 I have 2 Boston Terriers that get hot easily in the heat where I live. Not having a hose for their kitty pool was making them miserable since they were stuck in the AC house. Now it’s fixed and they’re happy and so am I! God bless you for your help! 🙏🏻👍🙏🏻

Thanks for this video! I'm an "older" woman who lives alone and while I'm pretty good with chores around the house, this looked a little intimidating at first. But as soon as I put the correct blade in my small saw, I was able to do it. It took a few tries, but I was finally able to twist the darn thing off, as you demonstrated. Thanks!

Yup, it was fused on and used penetrating silicon.. no go, used heat with wrench, no go, last thing I wanted to do is wrench the spigot off or crack the pipe and I could tell if I used mush more pressure that's just what would have happen. Found your tip, I used hand held mini hack saw at an angle and then cracked open with screw driver... worked like a champ. Thanks! Teflon tape tip was much appreciated as well.

A thousand thanks!! I have been routinely buying the expandible hosest that are always on sale at Home Depot, etc. Unfortunately I forgot to remove the hoses from my outdoor spigots over the winter. This happend once before and like your video I had to saw off the hose connector that was essentially molded onto the spigot. Watched your video and it reaffirmed the way I removed the hose metal last time this occurred. Must say these hoses' metal connection pieces are made of poor quality metal. If you buy and live in a climate with cold winters make suree to ALWAYS remove the hose during winter. Otherwise you'll have to follow the video.

Nice instructions. I'll add this comment in case it helps someone else. First, adding Teflon tape at initial installation is a great idea. I was about to give up and try your fix. This is what I tried. I knew it was likely to be the calcium deposit from Texas hard water. I sprayed it with vinegar water several times, allowing to sit. No luck. It didn't work. I was about to try your fix, and thought what if I sprayed it with WD-40? I didn't think this would work since it doesn't dissolve calcium. But after applying WD-40 and turned it with a pair of channel lock, it moved perhaps a couple of degrees. I tightened and loosened, adding more WD-40, it opened to perhaps 10degrees back and forth. I kept repeating this and finally had it removed. The female thread was coated with white calcium grains. I think the WD-40 was effective in penetrating into the threads giving the calcium grains a little lubrication. By working back and forth, I was able to further break these grains into smaller and smaller grains while adding more lubricant. Maybe I got lucky. But this worked for me. I am cleaning the parts and adding Teflon tape next time.

So Sad. You started off strong but fizzled out just as fast. Vinegar, yes, is the solution. You just implemented it wrong. Don't spray it. What you should have done is wrapped a towel around the entire thing. Then soaked the towel with vinegar. Let set for 10 min, then try. Repeat if necessary.
@wendymonkelien-brown579
@wendymonkelien-brown579 11 месяцев назад
@@AztecWarrior69in my case, that was the first thing I tried, & I was soaking it in an actual plastic bag with vinegar....wouldn't move a bit. That's why I'm looking at alternatives because the first thing didn't work. It would have been nice if it did, because that would have been alot easier. It's nice it works for you, but it won't for everyone
@AztecWarrior69
@AztecWarrior69 11 месяцев назад
@@wendymonkelien-brown579 "I was soaking it in an actual plastic bag with vinegar" Well that's your problem right there "plastic bag ". First you need to follow directions. Wrap a towel around the whole thing and Soak with vinegar. Wait ten min. Brush off. Try. If it doesn't give the first time repeat the process. If you wrap in plastic it will retard the chemical reaction. It needs air to work. " It's nice it works for you, but it won't for everyone" well it does work for everyone. No matter who you are. No matter what spigot, the process works. It is just a matter of time and patients. And following directions correctly.
@wendymonkelien-brown579
@wendymonkelien-brown579 11 месяцев назад
@@AztecWarrior69 if you would read other comments, vinegar didn't work for others either. Believe it or not, I have used vinegar to dissolve ALOT of lime scale over the years, & using a bag has NEVER been an issue. As a matter of fact, it is the RECOMMENDED way to remove it from fixtures that cannot be removed for some reason. There is normally more than one way to solve an issue, but you are insistent that your way is the only way. (Also, vinegar does NOT need air to work, hate to tell you)

Awesome!! I had to cut my hose off at the nozzle last year cause the thing just wouldn’t come off. Headed to the store after work tomorrow for a hacksaw and getting it done. Thanks!

Thanks, so much, I would have never thought of this. My spigot in not very secure to the wall, and I was afraid if I used a pair of long channel locks, I may bust the pipe. The hacksaw worked perfectly!

Thanks. I am having a hard time deciding to take this approach. I just bought the hose last week!!

It works. Just go slow and don't strip the threads off of your spigot.
