If you’ve watched Gomes a left back for Liverpool he is good enough to a job there and he’s actually a defender. Trippier is a full back and a better one than Saka. No manager in world football with this squad would not play Saka at LB. The problems are to do with how the team is set up, Southgate is to blame.

Maybe if they tried Gordon on that side they would be more of a threat down the left. Foden/Trippier is a problem together, unfair to take it all out on Tripps. Foden also drifts inside every single attack

Saka must DEFINITELY NOT play left back. Play Gomez there he's the only player who actually played there this season and done really well and also added alot going forward its madness he's not playing there for England

Nah that’s a stretch Play Gomez. It’s beyond me that we haven’t been doing this all along or at least from the point trippier proved it was too much for him. He has been playing Left back pretty well so far What we can be confident of is that Southgate won’t make any sensible changes

Foden on the left makes sense if your LB is a prime Marcelo. Trippier wasn't really great but he wasn't the problem. Foden is. Play Trippier and Gordon on the left, Saka and Walker seem to be working fine. Palmer is great but he's no Saka, use him as a super sub in case England really needs a goal late on. If your makeshift LB can't overlap, play the LW that prefers dribbling, is direct and can hold the width. If you don't trust Gordon or any Left Winger, switch to a 5-4-1, move walker to CB, play Trent and Saka on either wing as a WB, Rice-Mainoo-Foden midfield and Kane and Jude up top. Saka can play higher up the pitch on the left, Rice and Mainoo are a functional midfield, Trent and Foden can create and Kane and Jude can play in the box. Walker can cover the right whenever Trent drifts in, would fit every player better than the current system. Gordon could sub in case the opposing team has a really weak right sided defence that could exploit.

I think Saka at Leftback would free him up to attack more because nowadays a fullback is a winger that tracks back and defends a bit and both our fullbacks have not been very good going forward. I would drop Foden and play Gordon and if I was feeling brave I would drop Kane for Watkins . The other thing is our passing is so slow and laboured

Just let Saka play left back for the 90+ and bring gordon on the left as well, with is engine he can support saka defensively and the 2 of them attacking any right side in the world is a scary sight to see. Saka can’t play left back he hasn’t played the for years. Has to take a risk on shame or play Gomez. Or, and probably better, play wings backs with 3 at the back. Play Trent as rwb and Saka or Gomez at LWB. Saka has been amazing for us in attack and it is the imbalance that is killing the threat he offers.

Saka played RW, LB and RB.

Saka has only been invisible on the left cause he has a bum behind him who can’t go forward and is providing him nothing. Plus he has Kane who is basically playing a DM and when it’s time to get into the box, he’s not sprinting to get in there so Saka has no one to get the ball to when he actually does. If TAA was playing RB instead of Walker, you would see a very different Saka. Look how well he’s done in the few moments Walker hasn’t been crap going forward. Palmer has *seemingly* (has he - he gave the ball straight to the defenders when there were excellent chances to be created) because the system changed
