I've read that onions need a lot of fertilizer throughout the growing season - like every 2 - 3 weeks. I've only grown them once. Maybe fertilize the ones you have left and see if they bulk up before it's time to pull. Also, what kind did you plant - short day, long day or intermediate day? This is dependent on where you live in the country because of daylight hours. Where I'm at in TX, we plant short day onions.
Great video as always! Did you start your onions them from seed? I hear people get bigger onions when starting from seed or starts and not from bulbs. I start my seedling indoors in January and plant out about 6 weeks before last frost in spring. Also they are heavy feeders, and don't like competition w other plants as much, I guess. It's always a learning curve for me, because some years they definitely do better than others 🤔
Thank you!!! I did start some from seed then bought sets. I guessing I didn't feed them enough. I know I only fertilized at planting and maybe one other time eek! Next year will be better
When the leaves start to dry out. You want most of them to be dry. Also you can move away the soil above the bulb a little to check its size and make sure it's growing properly. Good Luck!!
Hmm I've always been told to plant them in late fall. You can def test it out and see how it goes. Maybe plant a few now and a few later and see which garlic grows better
