I bought this 3 years ago. I live in Utah so i use it for regular fishing during the summer and ice fishing throughout the winter. If you have questions, I'd be happy to try to answer based on my experience with it after 3 years.

Nope...FWIW I bought it 3 years ago and brand new I'd get probably 8hrs of use when I ice fish here in Utah. Now after 3 years, it's probably 6-7. If you have an iPhone, that will probably die quicker than the strikercast will.

Thank you for your questions. 1. Compared to Chirp, STRIKER Cast supports two frequencies (260/455kHz) where as CHIRP scans a wide range of frequencies. CHIRP will produce a more detailed return on fish, structure, and bottom. 2. Since the STRIKER Cast does not have Panoptix Livescope technology built in, you will not be able to see your bait on the return. 3. The app gives the option to select different fish icons/types. With that said, you can't "filter" the size of fish that is returned. However, the standard fish icon does scale based on the strength of the return (i.e. a larger fish would have a stronger return, therefore the icon would scale larger on the app). I hope this helps.

Thank you for your question. It will do ok at very low speed. If you are going too fast, the Striker Cast will start to "submarine" and it will lose connection with the phone.

Yes No problem. But you have to make a device so that the Garmin does not submerge if you go too fast. A small styrofoam plate with a hole for the Striker Cast to stick in would help. I don't think there will be any corresponding mounts for boats, since the corresponding, more expensive Garmin boat sonars also have to be sold.

Thanks for your question. It's important to remember that most sonar beams including those in the STRIKER Cast are in the shape of a cone that is directed below the transducer. So the deeper a fish is there is a little more variance left to right, and front to back where those fish may reside in comparison to the transducer. But generally if you are fishing near the transducer you are giving yourself a good chance to be fishing in the same part of the water column as the fish you're seeing.

No. Without a fish alarm, you have to stop fishing and navigating to see if there's fish under you.

Thank you for your question. You can have a split screen with the Traditional sonar and A-scope combo, but not the Traditional sonar and Flasher combo.

@@GarminRetailTraining one more question... i know the Striker has 260kHz and 455kHz but I can't find anywhere where it says what degrees for each. Do you know what the degrees for the wide and narrow beam scanning is?

@@jza80king Great question. The beam widths are 22° x 63° @ 260 kHz and 9° x 14° @ 455 kHz. I hope this helps.

@@GarminRetailTraining can you clarify the 22° x 63° and 9° x 14° ? Other wireless products I've seen just tell you the width of the beams expressed in degrees but not 22x63. So it'll say for example 260khz at 15° and 90khz at 55°

@@jza80king Certainly. The beam pattern on the STRIKER Cast is fan shaped more like a scanning sonar, instead of the cone of a traditional sonar. There is a forward width and a side track width, so the beam is 22° on one axis and 63° on the other. I hope this helps..

@@GarminRetailTraining please disregard… it had no battery and when I tried charging there was not light blinking but after around 15 minutes I started to see the light blinking and was about to connect once it was starting to charge. So I am good now. Thank you very much for reply and offering assistance.
