Watch and learn as I show you how I installed a brand new Garmin 106 Ultra to the bow of my Ranger Boat. Broken down into 2 easy to follow steps...wiring & mounting...see how easy it to do this install yourself.
Learning to read, interpret, and use what the fishfinder is showing you is the main goal...takes time on the water and practice...any questions feel free to ask. :)
What color is it showing when you sand it? I used a heavy grit paper and just very lightly went over it. If I used a fine grit and really worked on it... it would get shiny, but no color change.
My old units were hooked up under the dash on the buss bars without issue. I just went this route for due to overall power draw from my system. Just ensure you have the fuse inline and it will be good to go.
I have a Garmin Force, so the GT 54 was already on the trolling motor when I installed it. Now from past experience, I can tell you a few things that got rid of interference...and I had a ton with my humminbirds. 1. Keep the power wires as separate as possible, they hated being run next to the trolling motor cables especially Minnkota with the power modulation. 2. Run a separate dedicated power source, or at least a dedicated fuse block or buss bar to keep things separated. 3. Make sure your wires are sized right Hope this helps some
So they have a hook up on back for an additional ground wire, but I have never used it and don't know first hand of anyone using it. I have heard of people using it to fight major interference issues, but I am not to familiar with it.
Depends on boat, some places out there make special plates for high end bass boats, but in my case I used HPDE board and cut my own to size since there was no aftermarket options available.
