In this video, I'll be demonstrating how you can enable or disable the heart rate monitor on your Garmin Forerunner 255. It may not be complex for seasoned users of Garmin watches, but if you're a new user to the Garmin watch interface, this should help.
From the watch face, hold down the UP button to reveal the menu.
Scroll through using UP or DOWN and find 'Health & Wellness'.
Use the START STOP button to select 'Health & Wellness'.
Select 'Wrist Heart Rate'.
Under 'Status' in Health & Wellness, you should have two options: Auto and Off.
You can also customize the heart rate for activities such as Swimming, receive ABNORMAL HEART RATE ALERTS as well as BROADCAST HEART RATE.
Choose AUTO or OFF under 'Status' and exit.
