I have the Garmin S40. I like it for the steps and the ability to take your score for each hole. I also like how it can give me an analysis of my clubs with distance and direction from the data collected while I play. What I don't like about the S40 is the lengthy learning curve. I find out that the S40 can collect the yardages and give an average distance for each club you use. So on the 1st hole I use my driver. After striking the ball you must tell your watch which club you used. When you get to your ball the S40 will indicate in yards/meters how far you hit your drive and how many yards left to the green. You pull your next club and the auto shot will know that you struck the ball and ask you what club you used. When you finish the hole it will ask how many putts was required. But what if you forget to make those entries and just walk over to the next hole? That's where the trouble begins. So that's where I'm at. I received this watch as a Christmas gift and after 3 rounds of play I'm still trying to figure it out. It requires a process for its use that you have to adhere to with an Instruction manual that does not explain any of what I've mentioned. The S40 is not as intuitive as the manufacturer makes it out to be. I'm getting use to it but the winter weather having to wear gloves and bulky jackets to keep warm is hampering the learning process. But I do see how it can help understand many facets of my game and I'm hoping that at least in the next 5 rounds I've got it totally figured out. CONS - learning curve is lengthy and it requires you be on the course to figure it out. Yeah I'd recommend it although I don't know how to use it at this point in time. Maybe someone can give me some tips. eh?
I agree completely. I’m having issues with editing shots taken with the ct10s. Sometimes I use my 8i to chip but is skews the distance tracking for that club. I need a manual for the app!
I don't know what's going on in Canada right now, but I just got the S40 from Costco for $279 (it's $419 at golftown). The S60 is $545 and the S62 is $675. We're getting so hosed.
