Panda garra are an excellent algae eater and very entertaining, accepting a wide range of parameters and are a great choice for your more standard community tank.

behavior:good in a stream/river community, best in groups of 3 or more to establish pecking order

Garra Flavatra has long been one of my favorite fish. They are so docile and social while being great cleaners. Truly innocent and cute fish! I'm really glad that someone is giving them the attention they deserve.

I just got 2 of these cool guys for my 20 gallon aquarium with a pearl gourami and a school of harlequin rasboras for tank mates. I sat and watched them at the shop for probably 10 minutes. Their social habits are so fun to see, I wish I could have more.

these have become one of my favourites since I brought them into the store I work at, and a half dozen home with me! so fun, DEFINITELY adorable, and they really area joy to watch, especially when feeding veggie pellets and kelp wafers! right now, they are my second favorite fish(subject to change, but I don't foresee that happening anytime soon!)

These are really, really cool fish and as the prices have dropped they're really catching on. 6 months ago I had never seen one in a fish store and now both of my larger local fish stores have them in stock and they're selling very well. This is probably my favourite fish right now as I love my little guy.

i used to keep garra rufa, they did the anubia-sitting aswell. i got some flavatra just yesterday, seems like i need to buy anubias again! they really are amazing fish. i love the whole garra family.

Bought one yesterday for $11 Canadian. About one inch at purchase but I saw a fully grown one in a Discus tank on my way into my LFS and it was gorgeous. I'm VERY cautious when I buy new fish b/c I don't want to disturb the status quo in my four tanks, but my little guy is both a very peaceful and entertaining fish that earns his/her keep by munching on algae all day. I have put a variety of foods in the tank so far, but all he/she seems to want to do is eat algae. Highly recommend this fish despite the price tag.

I've got three of these in a live planted marineland portrait 5 with an upgraded pump, sump cartridge, and a 12" finnex plant light. They do perfectly well because it's very very heavily planted and the current is very strong. the sump is over a gallon and it's packed with bio. They share it with a dwarf frog and albino bushynose.

i bought one of these, i love it so much, very active. i keep it with 8 ember tetras, 2 albino cory catfish, and 2 normal cory catfish. and one snail. i also have 3 plants. tank is never boring.

These guys get very tame. They'll eat out of your hand and eventually just chill in your hand. By far our favourite species

I just got 2 for my 55g and 1 for my 15g. All is going well on day 1. They're very small, size S. But they're adorable and doing great. I got a male/female in the 55g and a female in the 15g

Hi Rachel, I have a few panda garras and they are probably one of my most active fish. The get along with my BN and my emperor pleco. They are now close to my favorite fish and I’m setting up another tank just so I can get a few more of them lol but I’m wondering if you can tell me how if there’s a way to tell a difference between male and female??? Thanks

+Kieran Gray akysis are really cool fish, but watch out, they have a venomous sting (usually like a bee sting reaction to it, hurts like the devil though). garra would probably be fine with a betta sorority, just remember these are 3.5" (nearly 90mm) fish.

They will climb the glass and go right over the edge of a rimless tank! Fun fish to keep.

hey..i saw a doctr fish in aquarium......shape is same as this and size is much smaller..but it has grey strips on it....is it other kind of lufa?? will it be able to keep with shrimps with planted tank?

Hate to burst any bubbles, but I have 2 Panda Garras in each of my 10 g tanks and 2 in my 5 gal community tank. I want more to make the tanks more interesting. I just need to know what is required for breeding.

super fish, but keep in mind that they are really good climbers and jumpers so better to have lass under your tank (I lost one jumped out after 2 happy years)

Well, I have just bought 3 of them into my tank and I am sorry I did not take more od them, like at least 5. They are OK as far I can tell by Now, but I am bit worried if they will go together without any problems. It was quiet a spontanious buy, because I was after Crossocheilus siamensis (SAE), and I saw these little ones. I have read about them before so I knew they would fit in my tank well, but completely forgot about how many of them should be kept.

Hey Rachel. I have a few panda garras but I’m looking to get a couple more do you have any your selling? I know you live in York pa I live in Bedford pa so the shipping Should be quick.Or know where I could get a couple??? The ones I have now I got from imperial Tropicals but they haven’t been in stock recently.

Do these fish damage plants at all. I have anubias and java fern which I'm sure will cope fine just worried about my Amazon swords? really do want some of these guys I think they would go great in my tank with the danios and river pebbles?? thanks

I like them better than SAE n stay very small. better than a pleco! keep 1 in a tank only. not sure where my other one disappear to. can't find it. I got mine when they r 1".

why does gara panda looks have defferent opacity colour from every pic resource?.. is garra panda seems like a shrimp, they had a deffrent tone colour depending by what grade they came from

Rachel O'leary mine still(at +/- 2")haven't developed the yellow and red so much- definitely SOME yellow and red, but not like I've seen). hoping it just takes a little more maturity, but I live em either way- brightly colored or not, they're just awesome little fish!

+Fish Behind Glass With good husbandry, I think a 20 long would be ok for a small number depending on what else is in there. They are not very frenetic, just need good water quality

+Rachel O'leary I would probably take the "get one for this tank" I've been looking at other options to plecos. My common is outgrowing his tank, and moving to a larger tank that I'm starting. My bristle nose will move from his to the common's old tank. Plecos do a better job of cleaning my plants than my nerites. I do 50% weekly water changes for established tanks. I alternate gravel vac and filter cleanings on water changes. Would that qualify? I saw these at my last auction, but passed on them since it was the first time I heard of them. Now I have a heads up if they come up again. 👍

Bichir will eat fish that fit in their mouth, I can't think of a mature species that wouldn't be able to eat these

Finally bought two for the 240. They came down in price..so,took the plunge for two., They seem to live up to the hype..eating algae Ancistrus would not touch. Brown and Cladophora. Great job of cleaning wide leafed plants..better than plecos ever did. Not much interest in wood I notice. I still have the yellow Ancistrus for that.so no big deal.

These fish are so much fun, they never stop !. But I disagree about being good algae eaters. I've had them in several tanks and they touched any algae.
