Running AT Max through my garden. Crazy deep in all metal! Very respectible in disc. 1-2" deeper in my garden than AT Pro disc vs disc. showmetreasure.com Message me if interested in purchasing. I have several on hand.
Don't rely on numbers people. Rely on the sound. Trust me, I'm very frustrated with mine. You have to swing very tight and scrub the ground or you'll miss targets. It's so over sensitive that it drives me crazy!
I just got the At Max a week ago and was also disappointed with the constant chatter. So I purchased the 6x11”viper coil and the chatter is cut in half and found a diamond ring at our local high school yesterday.
I have the max and a patriot. I am still learning the max but the numbers are all over the place just like in this video. It is not reliable. I feel like i am missing good targets.
Its a problem that Garret couldnt solve for many years...and they just ignore it. it also happen to AT Pro and AT Gold. try search "AT Pro Problem" or "AT Gold Problem" on youtube or Google...anyway welcome to the FAULTY GARRET PRODUCTS BUYER Group.
Harley Dad was having that problem today! Was at a baseball field and hunting where all the parents stand to watch. The machine was just to erratic. Grunts then high grunt then high, it was insane. Just started digging high hits and got two modern pennies, foil and iron. I only hunted there for 10 minutes, because I couldn’t stand it and there was nothing I could do to reject! Very disappointed I have heard of others sending in their Max, because of this same problem and Garrett is supposedly replacing the board with updated versions! Idk how true this is, but I think I will contact Garrett tomorrow and see if they will do anything for it! I should have just spent the extra $200 at the time for the Equinox 800! If I knew at the time how much I like doing this I would have bought the CTX 3030! Oh well, maybe someday if the MAX can pay for it🤔
I purchased one and sold it a day later, had the Pro before this one, my number never jump all over it was very stable, this Max is very unstable it's a lot deeper but the VDI isn't stable
Mine isn't unstable. When you get a solid target I.e gold or silver coin... the numbers are very stable. I had the pro before.. its good machine but the max is superior.
Deeper targets are jumpy just like almost all detectors. See my other detector depth test in the same garden. Nothing locks on good in my garden. AT Max has very high gain. In disc mode dial back the sensitivity. You won't really loose depth and it will be less crackly. I'll try to get a hunt video up soon. Although I purposely dig a lot of trash with jumpy ID. :) Locks pretty darn good to coins in the wild. Also, notice I quickly start lifting the coil to check depth and thus make targets jumpier at edge of detection.
Please keep us updated about how it's going with Garrett's warranty and in case you already received your metal detector back let us know how it is working now. thanks a lot
Whats your opinion on the Max compared tonthe AT Pro? Is it really worth the extra money? ATP seems tonrun more stable and has nicer tones. The depth increase seems faily minimal. Thoughts?
cache mole If a disc mode or park hunter stick with at pro. the max is only about 1-1.5" deeper in disc and really excels in all metal depth or relic hunts. similar to AT Gold. the Max is sparkier
Thanks for getting back to me. I had an AT Pro and it was a good solid detector that I got a lot of silver with. I'm running a Minelab Safari now but was thinking to get a Max as a second detector. I hunt mainly parks and forests for coins and silver jewelry. I appreciate the input. I'll probably grab another ATP.
It’s funny you brag about raising the coil when it’s clear the vdi’s are all over the place, even in the negatives. For that kind of money you could buy an Equinox 600
How many folks actually hunt in all metal? Yeah almost nobody. This detector is just an AT Pro with the wick turned up and that is what makes it unstable. Time for some new tech. I love Garrett, but the AT Max is a no go for me. I will wait til they bring out something better. Until then if you really want a garrett get an ACE 400. Bang for buck one of the best on the market.
I had high hopes for this machine, but after taking it to the park and numbers jumping all over I called Garrett and sent it back as a Unusable machine
