It's going to be so cool with VR tools pretty much built into the bones of S&box. It's amazing what VR mods have been able to do with Garry's Mod on an engine never even intended to work with VR, so I can only imagine the mileage modders will get from VR on Source 2.

All nicely said, I'm glad to have heard all the points since as an old school gmod player, I initially really disliked the idea of shifting to a new game. I still am very unsure whether I will like it more than the original or not, but I'll just have to see and not make any judgement when I still don't know much about it yet. Honestly I just wish they'd choose different default characters, I don't like the looks of them but hey, at least I know I will be able to change them right away :D

I personally am incredibly interested in it because I used to love playing gamemodes like TTT with friends and as I also had some experience with the Hammer editor, using it to make csgo maps, I was able to make some pretty cool TTT maps for us to play as well. Playing TTT on the new and improved engine and me being able to make some maps for it ( as well as CS2 when that releases) is one of the reasons why I really wanna try it out

I only play gmod with my friends that never played or didn't know what gmod is these days, It's rlly fun seeing them experience something new lol it's so funny

underrated channel

This is a really good video I just hope you know that CS2 is very different from Overwatch 2 because CS2 actually has new changes compared to overwatch 2 and CSGO doesn't really need that many changes because it's simplicity makes the game a bit less chaotic compared to Overwatch or some other team based shooters like Valorant.

Damn this was amazing, for a channel with (at the time of writing this) 620 subs id except much worse, clicked on this cuz the title interested me and I just wanted to know what was happening, I planned to skip ahead and just skim over the video, but damn I stayed here till the end, the editing was amazing, it was well scripted, just generally a very good video. After recently clocking 3k hours in gmod i'm very exited for it. I currently have access to the closed beta and as expected this early on it is quite lackluster but I do belive a year or so after its release the gmod RP communities will move over there which might even start to rival Gta RP in the realistic rp game scene as currently (some) rp servers on gmod have gotten so high quality despite being made in a 15 year old game that the dedication of the community will be enough to make the switch and overcome most of the technical limitations the servers face right now like playercount and optimisation.

ive never played gmod as a kid or ever as i was never into pc gaming but ive just got it today and will be playing it soon and i actually cant wait

From a person who's actually inside s&box closed beta, the experience is closer to a roblox than gmod, as in you choose a game and play. There is "sandbox" game mode that's on a map similar to gm_construct, but a) it's laggy as hell, due to unoptimized map (it lags even on my 10th gen i7 and RTX 3070 despite being visually inferior to stuff like Cyberpunk and other raytraced games that run more or less fine) and b) it doesn't have the same kind of tools gmod's sandbox mode had. Not to mention Lua support is gone and you have to know C#.

On their official about page: "It's not going to be Garry's Mod 2. It will eclipse what is possible in Garry's Mod rather than simply be a modern version of it."

My friend gave me a key for early access of s&box and I can honestly say right now, it's definitely promising. Just from the small playerbase alone a bunch of games have already been made with the engine and they're pretty fun to play.

I remember back when S&Box was originally teased back in 2014. i built my PC in 2019 in hopes to be ready for a release anytime soon. Now I fear that My PC will not be enough to handle it. Unless it's going to be a Roblox, that even laptops can run anyways. I hope they will have a Sandbox \ GMod 2 gamemode and doesnt require internet 24/7.

honestly i feel like a lot of people are expecting s&box to be a sequel to gmod and whole its similar, i feel like the devs have made it clear they view it as its own totally seperate game (and i do too) and thats why i dont think of it as a gmod 2. I also think that a lotta people think its not gonna be that good from the "sausage men" as many have reffered to the characters but the game isnt even close to finish, nor have they even begun to do anything remotly close to public marketing. and honestly a ton of things are gonna be changed at its early public release, and i personally want it to do really well, too, not as a gmod 2 but as its own gane, taking some aspects of gmod and improving them tenfold. Great video by the way and awesome that you covered all of that :)

Not really Garry's Mod 2, it's just a Roblox clone in Source 2. A *real* Garry's Mod successor would have Valve assets by default and mounting. The game has been in dev preview for almost 3 years now, and in these 3 years the amount of genuinely promising gamemodes can be counted in one hand. Not to mention, the lack of high quality assets by default makes it hard for mappers to make good looking stuff, since they have to go look for stuff online which usually has very inconsistent quality, especially when it comes to PBR materials. Just look at some of the maps and you'll quickly realize most of them look like they were taken out of Unity asset flips, simply because there isn't a big library of AAA-quality assets by Facepunch yet. They've been working on that, but it's nowhere near enough. Also, every gamemode feels slightly different, which on paper isn't a bad thing, but in practice it's really annoying. The thing about Source games is that they're pretty easy to get into and feel familiar, since the movement, controls, etc. are very similar in every game. With S&box, you have 50 different base fps templates with floaty movement that feels slightly different. Asset.party is really good, I'm glad it only downloads the required/missing files instead of having to download the whole addon, which is way better than how the Workshop handles it, but at the same time I'm worried they're gonna be way more strict when it comes to copyrighted IPs, which were also a huge part of Garry's Mod. Overall, it just feels very scummy of them to call it a "worthy garry's mod sequel" when it's missing the things that made garry's mod, garry's mod. also sausage man sucks lol

Like Tower Unite never overtaking GMOD Tower, I doubt S&Box will overtake GMOD. You cannot replicate lightning in a bottle. Not to mention that a Source 2 Roblox clone is not what GMOD is, GMOD is "HL2/other Valve properies" but you can do whatever you want in them. Its not the sandbox features in themselves that sell it. If it were, everyone would drop TTT, Murder, Prop Hunt, RP, etc. for Sandbox... but that doesnt happen.
