This song summed up my life for the last 5 years. It gave me the drive to change my situation for the better. My train pulled in I got on it and moved 1500 miles and left the only place I'd known for most of my life.
I respect rap for telling the truth but I hate the way it's glorified. Gary represents real life without killing niggas, pimpin hoes, and hating whitey. Respect is what is lacking in our generation! Bring it back
Raziel 0223 if you listen to rap you will know there's more than money and girls in a song biggie smalls raps about how he mad it from selling drugs to selling out shows i listen to more than one genre of music and i know there's more than just money hookers and cars
Have you seen the really young kid that Buddy Guy introduced at his Red Rock concert? He could really play. I could not make out his name unfortunately.
He's getting more recognition but he hasn't blown up because people listen to this garbage calls dubstep and they settle on poor music. Anyone who doesn't play their own instruments is not a musician to me. I play guitar so I'm pretty opinionated about this
Randy Durger I disagree. I'm a guitarist as well, I play very similar blues styles like this, I also play a lot of indie rock type stuff, but I also am part of an EDM duo, we make electronic music, like house and trance and chill step, etc, we also produce hip hop beats. Idk if you have ever used digital audio before but there's a tremendous amount of musical knowledge and talent that goes into it. A lot of sound mixing, and you have to have knowledge of many instruments. Just because you don't hit drums or bend strings doesn't mean it's not music, it's just a through different platform than what you might be into. Most artists that create electronic music have a lot of ability on the piano, guitar and definitely drums. You'd probably be surprised about what all goes into it.
amanda miller That is absolutely ridiculous. What would you say defines musicianship then? Times change and instruments evolve. The Piano didn't always exist, it was evolved from the harpsichord. Do you think when they started off with the guitar that they would've foreseen Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstrat model? I have been studying music for years. Not just sitting on my bed strumming a guitar or laying down kicks and claps on digital software, but waking up for 8 AM music theory courses. Digital Audio is the future, it really is. As a musician, I can create sounds through many instruments via Digital Audio Workstation, as a musician I can change and modulate the sound you hear, as a musician I have to orchestrate the entirety of all the sounds, all the effects, I create everything. If you are telling me because I don't sit down and rosin my bow that I'm not a musician, then you are ignorant.
Okay , so I saw Gary Clark Jr. At Antone's in Austin Texas years ago and he blew my mind then. Now it's like Stevie, Jimi, and Curtis Mayfield all got together and gave up all of their heart and soul. I am Gobsmacked at how utterly amazing Gary Clark Jr. is.
This has been my new favorite song for the past few days since I watched the chef movie and I’m trying not to over play it but it’s just sooo good. It’s so nice to see some new, real blues
I've never heard of Gary Clark Jr. or this song until now. It is a good and meaningful song and it's the kind of song that makes you think about a lot of things, about life, who you are, what you've done. The best song I have heard in a long time.
He's been in the public eye since about 2011. I've seen him live a bunch of times and have everything he's released. He's a good one to catch up on and I think you'll be happy if you search him out. Lots of really famous musicians love this guy and want him to be the standard-bearer for bluesy rock music going forward. He's still a young guy and is still growing and learning.
One thing few mention is Austin Texas is a place where Black people still listen to blues. Gary came up in a scene that is open to new blood but so rooted in the chitlin circuit and the revival of the Kings ( B.B., Freddie and Albert) career. taking nothing from Gary's talent but he did come from a place where playing the blues is just what we do :). His great Uncle ( W.C.) was the link between the Dallas Kids ( Vaughn Bros, Doyle Bramhall) and the East Austin blues scene. He still plays and is a great human and great performer
This man is truly talented. I saw him perform before the Stones came on stage on the Zip Code Tour 2015 at Petco Park. His playing was magnificent and his voice was amazing. It was fun to see him switch between his array of guitars of different colors. Put up a very entertaining show, it's just too bad so many people weren't giving him the attention he deserved at the time. Anyways, anyone who is considering following this man, do it. You will not regret it. Rock on.
this song deserves more views, it's one of Gary's best in my humble opinion. Gary has truly revived the blues with his own twist and it's absolutely magical
This reminds me of the Jimi Hendrix song called When I hear my train a coming. Great song. Never heard about Gary Clark Jr. before but now that I know this, it't time to buy a record of his.
I discovered this masterpiece of a musician today and I'm on song #5 of his, each one full of fire, swagger, serious talent, innovation, love, pain, and everything vital in truly great music. And he's shredding not just that guitar, but also every illusory boundary delineating what a "genre" in music is. WAS. Incredible. So much love to be found... just gotta be willing to accept it when it shows up, no matter how it's packaged. Fire.
my favorite artist garyclarkjr, however I was so disappointed they both didn't pack up their bags and get on a train at the end of the video! the song is so beautiful don't get me wrong.
"When My Train Pulls In" Everyday nothing seems to change Everywhere I go I keep seeing the same old things and I I can't take it no more Oh, I would leave this town But I ain't got no where else to go Wake up in the morning to more, more bad news and I Sometimes I feel like I was born to lose and I It's driving me out of my mind Gonna catch the next train and I And move on down the line Whoah I'll be ready now I'll be ready when my train pulls in Whoah I'll be ready now I'll be ready when my train pulls in I know my time ain't long around here and I I can't live this life again Walking down the street you might wanna cross a smiling face But they'll stab you in the back as soon as you turn and walk away and I Oh Lord, it's bringing me down If things don't change around here Ain't no use in my hanging 'round Whoah I'll be ready now I'll be ready when my train pulls in Whoah I'll be ready now I'll be ready when my train pulls in I know my time ain't long around here and I I can't live this life again
This is an intense video (stating the obvious) Pain, pride, love, shame, it's got so many feelings. He is playing at the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC tonight. Tickets are already sold out. I wish I had known about this man sooner. I would have loved to see that show. There was an Orange Peel notice on fb. I'll be looking out now for sure
Kat G yeah, I've missed too many of his shows in the area simply because I Just recently found out about him and how great his music is. ...and I'm a guitar player! 😳
I remember seeing you play crossroads festival and you just stole the show amongst some of the biggest players that’s ever been, that inspired me to write my own music and was a huge influence on me This song touches me on a personal level, thank you for your music 🙏🏻
Young man taking care of addicted mother and baby brother... young girl going through it due to a bad romance and rotten-ass father... video moved me to tears. I'm ready for my train to pull in. Waiting for a long, long time.
I'm a die hard metal fan. Everything from old school Metallica, Maiden, Slayer, to new metalcore/screamo stuff. Occasionally I branch out into more alt rock stuff or RHCP style rock, but that's usually about it. But I have to give credit where credit is due, and hot damn can this guy play. Consider me a fan from now on.
+Michael Gaudreau yeah no joke, I'm predominantly a metal guy too, but when comes to music I always like to what else is out there. This guy had me sold when I first heard "Don't Owe you a thing" and this track
I like hard rock and gutsy blues music...but this guy is so loose...his use of feedback...I see glimpses of Jimi Hendrix in him...I really like his style...i wish him all the best!
#GaryClarkJr I admire and respect your skill on an instrument as precious as the guitar 🎸. You are beyond talented. You are gifted 😀👍🙋🎸🎺🎷🎹🎻🪘🥁🙋🔥🔥🔥🇨🇱🇺🇸❤️💖💜💙
I feel like art is meant to convey emotions, feeling, angst. This video is really powerful, accompanied by a wonderful track with thoughtful lyrics ,and a soulful cadence
Kazeumi When you talk about cadence you don't mean perfect, imperfect, plagal or interrupted cadence? Because there is no cadence, the last 2 chords are G and Em which is chord III-I which isn't a cadence
I suggest you check all the meanings for that word. I meant his voice. No word in the English Language has only one isolated meaning. But, thank you for commenting.
Takes you bye the Heart and pulls it out though your knee caps one of the Best sound I heard in a while thank you for the Education in the Movements of the Blues and gives me hope in People keeping it a live ! Happy Monday Blessings
only one word........its timeless.....he should have received more credits for his work...... @Gary Clark Jr. waiting for some more blissful songs, carry on...........
When I first watched Chef ( the movie), I was listening to the dialog between jon favreau and missed the background music of gary. I just watched the movie for the 2nd time and noticed many more things, including Gary,'s great music
He's such a talented individual! Just saw him at the Fox Theater in St. Louis. If I were him, I'd fire the sound man, though. There was way too much bass, and you could barely hear the vocals. I'll just listen to his music on RU-vid from now on.
I know this struggle and this man....emotes it to a perfect place in the universe of sound! Which is what saved me from my self, even when I was 10 ..taking care of my baby sisters..bless you man for writing real songs!! much love-me
Such an underrated artist, my younger brother and I always shared links to music, on hearing of his sudden passing to suicide I checked those messages…this song stood out to me and related so much I had this played at his funeral. So apt yet such a beautiful and sad song, like it was written for him. Rip Murray 👩👦💞xx
That's the BEST song that I hear in a long tine... It just descrive to good how I feel. But now that i found this gem I feel like the luckiest person in Earth
