Highlights of the two tries scored by Gary Freeman for the Kiwis against Great Britain in 1988. The match was played in the mud at Addington Showground in Christchurch and the Kiwis won 12-10.
Remember this well, he went for the corners in terrible mud and rain, i seem to think this was his Kiwi debut but surely im wrong, ill Google it. It was such a shit move by Frank Endecott for not letting Freeman play the game that would have seen him break the record for most games in a row for the Kiwis, Freeman had to sit it out on the bus and that forever in my eyes put the mocker on Franks' coaching career. Gary was such an icon already and the record breaking game was just reward for Freemans' fitness, dedication and staying injury free due to his commitment at training and in the gym. Endecott LOST a LOT of peoples respect that fateful day, and that is something that Kiwi league, and Gary Freeman fans will NEVER forgive Endecott for, NOT even if we lived 4 lifetimes, the rotten bastard and a disgrace to the West Coast, South Island, New Zealand league folks, we breed them tough on the Coast.
I always thought it was Howie Tamati that dropped Freeman for Aaron Whittaker on the Kiwis tour of GB in 1993, not Endecott??? Agree though, he never should have been dropped.
