This unique concert was filmed at the London Hippodrome on 25 October 2007. It formed a part of the launch for the Jimi Hendrix "Live At Monterey" programme and featured Gary Moore and his band performing classic Hendrix tracks. At the end of the night Gary was joined by Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox of the Jimi Hendrix Experience for 3 tracks. Gary Moore was one of the finest British guitarists of all time and is one of the few players who could pay homage to Jimi Hendrix's groundbreaking and truly distinctive guitar style. This is a stunning tribute from one master guitarist to another.

One of the best versions I've ever heard. The band sounds just right, with Gary playing with a lot of intensity but not overplaying or being virtuosic for virtuosity's sake. He stays true to the original and captures the spirit of the music perfectly.

1971 fortunate to see Gary Moore with the original Skid Row in small club settings and last saw him 2009 at a venue on Brighton seafront. Skid Row performances were superb 😀

Many great guitarists have come and gone, but Gary's versatility, expressiveness, and diverse body of work remain unrivaled. The man played so many different styles with total commitment and mastery--blues, hard rock/metal, Celtic rock, etc. He inspired legions of hard rock/metal guitarists, yet he could also sing a blues ballad like "Still Got the Blues for You" in a way that Clapton never could. Remarkably, his singing was equally as powerful as his guitar-playing. A rarity, indeed.

100% agreed, what a great singer he was as well as an incredible guitarist. No matter who you compare Gary with, playing the same songs, he has the edge in terms of energy, expressiveness, and adding a unique flavour. That comparison includes muchly appreciated artists/guitarists such as Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, and many more. It does not mean that Gary is better overall or in general, (and it would not do justice to the many great artists we love) it means he is second to none in his niche like Steve Vai is second to none in his, etc. I trust that makes sense.

If Gary Moore is playing a whole jimi set,That is inspiration.Any player has an influence and a player they admire,Had they not heard that player,Maybe their trajectory would be very different,Jimi and buddy guy for instance.Gary Moore is an amazing player,Evolution in everything happens,But intimidation I just don't think jimi would be cos he influenced both srv and Gary Moore

I just got the cd. It's fuckin A-W-E-S-O-M-E !!! I went to the music store looking at cd's, and i saw this Gary Moore album (Blues for Jimmy), and imediatelly grabbed it. Now it's one of the best albums i own.

There are precious few, if only one or maybe two players that had the feel, ability, and TONE that Gary Moore possessed. Just jaw dropping touch and feel, and instict. If you watch Fender's 50th Celebration of the Strat, Gary's first on and plays "Red House" and just nails it!!! Nobody's played better since Jimi. And impressive, to me at least, is Moore could get amazing sounds out of whatever guitar he played. It didn't have to his 59' Les Paul...
