Met him back in the eighties when he was performing at Exeter air show flying his Harvard. Not only was he a great pilot and put on a great display but I got to chat with him after. We just talked flying as I knew music was not what he was there for. He was fascinating, very humble and quietly spoken and very engaging. He struck me as the perfect person to share a pint or two with in a quiet old country pub and talk about everything as he seemed very intelligent and thoughtful. No wasted words, just a very interesting person to engage with. I so wanted to gush and talk about the music but I’m glad I didn’t as it would have not shown him the respect he deserved for his flying skills.
This man is an absolute genius 👏 Always has been. Plus he's such a nice person. I've met him and he was so genuine. Can't imagine never having Gary Numan in my world!!
@@royculshaw8314 I met him on a god forsaken festival in a god forsaken village in Belgium, while he was watching one of the bands on stage, way before his gig was on. Great to see that he can enjoy others work too.
I agree with everyone, he is the most genuine, polite ,honest megastar ever. I have been a life long fan. He is a legend and pioneer of electronic music. He constantly changing his style both in stage presentation and what I describe as "Landscape music".A very down to earth guy. Always looking forward to his new music. A true inspiration, a fabulous family man
@@jamesjameson4566 He also had a face, skin peel when he did the SAVAGE videos and world tour. He is also now partially deaf. But despite this, I have been a fan from the beginning. He is a legend and a creative lyric writer 👍
That’s very true , ridiculed by ´ sounds´ and ´NMÉ … I’m sure they never actually listened to his music , remember bk in 1981 I was wearing a Numan T-Shirt and this other guy shouts at me " I F****** hate Gary Numań ,,, what a nutter he was eh? … Seen him many times and lucky to have met him in Manchester ..
It was trendy for journalists not to like him. I used to get abuse from the staff in Harum (Enfield Town) and fobbed off in HMV anytime I asked if they knew when they'd have the new single/album. "Next Week" seemed to be the answer, regardless.
When Lorraine interviewed Gary many years back she commented on how "refreshingly honest" he was. Gary has always been the first to admit when things haven't gone right in his career but he's held on in there and proved his fiercest of critics wrong.
Went to the Wembley gig and it was piggin awesome! The only thing that could top that night was to shake his hand. His music has been with me since I first became aware of him and to see him live for the first time now I am 61 was an emotional thing for me. Gary is a genius at his craft and I cannot wait to go again.
Lucky enough to see his Pleasure Principal tour a few years back. Replicas & P.P are both groundbreaking albums, still relevant and have that huge Numan soundscape that is completely original.
Just saw him perform in Cleveland on the 5th of may, 2023...and I must say....holy shit is he good!!! Highly recommend seeing his performance if u can catch it.
This was a great interview. He seems very relaxed with Lorraine. I missed it that morning so thanks for uploading. Really looking forward to seeing him on the 6th May 🖤🖤🖤🖤
And sporting a muzzle on the cover of Savage years before. Just a coinidence. Convid. You mugs who got jabs dont want to read the pfizer released papers 😂😂😂
Seen him recently 1st time got to go again absolutely brilliant, best gig ever been too, really in touch with the crowd and we all enjoyed it. Could tell he loved performing and how much rapport he had with us. Outstanding xx
My friend re-introduced me to him in 2005. Wow. I loved his music and the lyrics and Everytime I listen I hear something new I had not heard before. I resonate with his sound. Gary Human 3.0 indeed ❤️
I remember seeing him live at the odeon new st Birmingham on he’s Telekon tour, that was around 1980ish he’s lighting stage set up was amazing and he was live!! Great artist.
Is, was, always will be, absolutely Superb. The king of Electronic music in the Eighties, and far more influential than a lot of people wish to acknowledge. Every track is beautiful. Obviously his daughters are brilliant too.
When Gary toured Australia in 1980 I went to his concerts in Melbourne. He didn't speak at all throughout the concert. I wasn't sure if it was shymness or simply his on stage persona. Loved the show though!
I saw him this week in Oslo and he didn’t say much! Just thanks at the end, I thinks But he did not seem shy! Very engaged with the audience, lots of dancing on stage. Loved the show.
@@waynenorthspacebuoy3529 not like that, their voices, I'm sure he mentioned that they sang on his album, but I thought it was his wife doing the backing singing on certain tracks of Gary's, but how wrong was I. Wasn't being rude, dude, sorry.
@@leeetchells609 Never use double sided Gaffer Tape ... it takes the skin off ... agony! ... I did a cover of Ziggy Stardust by Bowie on my YT Channel ... crap wig ... going back to Benny from the ABBA Wardrobe .. or I could start a new trend ... like ripped knees in jeans ... so yesterday.
Gary has admitted to having a hair transplant, because he was losing it in I believe it was in the 80s and he didn’t want the bald look, so he had a transplant.
Just finished reading Revolution and it was a great update. Still got an early biography by Ray Coleman on my bookshelf which I may read again. Still playing my original scratchy Tubeway Army vinyl for as long as it may last.
Wow he's looking great for his age love all his songs,, he's a legend I use to dress up like him in the 80s grease hair back and black jump suit. Gary Numan come to Ireland to do a concert I will be there
Now I like him more than before , max respect and consideration for wifey , and if he rocked up with grey hair and no makeup I'd be equally interested .
