He's a great man ... so funny too! Can't believe he's 64, that's amazing ... I hope I look as good as him at that age ... fantastic hair and everything.
@@bigtwit799 Do you have your own teeth? ... its not just about hair! ... we need to celebrate over 60's with teeth ... the dog had mine and looked really scary ... never use gaffer tape double sided too .. turns the hair piece into a scruffy guinea pig if you can get it off ... such fun.
I saw him a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed the show. His live music is intense and boy, the Bass and Rhythm guitarists embedded themselves in my visual memory. Saw him in a small venue and it was all fantastic and trance-inducing.
I saw him at Cardiff on Thursday- fantastic show. So much new material and it definitely wasn’t a throwback show, but he did play Cars/AFE, I was surprised that he did, and he played both with real enthusiasm. Amazing showman.
I saw him in February 2022 in Philadelphia and it was a fantastic show! I agree, his band was unforgettable. Gary was just phenomenal. I’ve seen him before, and I like him live because his music is so intense and you can see how much he loves to perform his work. The audience loved him. Two regrets, though. It was LOUD! Even with good earplugs, my ears rang for days after. And if only Persia had been with him to sing My Name is Ruin. But no matter, it was one of my favorite shows ever. Thanks, Gary!
I love Gary Numan, his music is my fav ever and he’s so awesome. I would never imagine he felt fear performing till I read his book. He’s beyond amazing now, just saw him again and have tickets for March 2024.
Legend. Cars was my very first favorite song the year it came out. I was 10, used to go roller skating on Friday nights, never forget how cool that was.
Congratulations Gary. Thank you for making music that is been part of my program to make it through an extremely deep length depression that has caused a lot of issues and your music has been a relief to relate to and your music has helped me through some of the darkest days in my life. Thank you thank you
Just saw him a few weeks ago with I Speak Machine at small bar-venue of less than 1000 people. Hard to imagine playing at Wembley after touring in small gigs throughout the US. He put on a good show - good energy for a chap his age.
On tour for Savage, the date in my city was part of a big festival. Me and some friends made a pretty big road trip to an earlier show in another city at a smaller venue. Great decision. Gary's genuineness, humility, and sincerity as a person despite all his massive fame and fandom really are best in smaller venues.
Saw him in 1980 till 2019 for his 40th anniversary in London every time I see him he really does get better. a unique and gifted artist. 40 year's of music and each new album has its own sound and feel. A under the radiator genius who deserves to be in the rock and roll hall of Fame!
Thank you to whoever re-posted this, I could actually here the audio on this. If I still lived in London I'd be there with bells on! For all those going, have a great night, it will be special.
@@bigtwit799 Well lets just say Gary is still a lot older than me, and guess what I have bad news for you! You aint nothing special pal, one day someone will be calling you old man! But at least I can say I was there at the beginning of it all, i was also at his shows in 79 and 80, and you can tell your grand children that you saw a pensioner on stage at Wembley😥
Gary Gaza Numan . Whoa what a legend. He is loved as his music is and will be by everyone who discovers the music and the man . Emotions he has them and will stir yours , a tear , joy happiness he has it all . Awesome . Respect ! ❤
@@bigtwit799 You do realise music is one of the arts? Especially the kind he makes. Just as much to do with the production as it is the songs themselves. If it makes more sense to you, his albums are his gallery.
Someone needs to let Gary know that he's hardly the only guy to ever say he's retiring from music, then not. The fact he didn't have another hit song is hardly due to one slip at Wembley.
Bloody idiotic news, making sound like in 81 he stopped, 2 years ish yes, but he got straight back into albums and tours, its only been the 40 years to get back to wembley, looking forward to it!
He is my man Mr numan can not wait to see him again at the city Hall Newcastle with my numan fan my son beside me for the 3time and hope he makes Newcastle fan rock as we have to bad years just one night to forget the outside Newcastle uk numan make it rockbaby✌️🇬🇧😊😘
I saw two videos of Cars, one with Gary & Trent Reznor with N.I.N. & one with Fear Factory, the one with N.I.N. was from 2009 & the one with Fear Factory was just a couple of years ago(2020), both were great. 🤟
maybe I misunderstood what she said about him no longer doing live concerts until recently, but Ive seen him live twice, both times in LA/Hollywood. Once at a graveyard in Hollywood before a showing of the movie "Metropolis"(7-8 years ago..he did a few songs from his, at the time, new album 'Splinter'), and the other maybe 5-6 years ago at a large goth/industrial club.
He has done shed loads of tours. But the past few years and albums have no excitement to them. We only go out of habit and a longing nostalgia for the glory days.
@@adamant5419 no they are not. They are dull. Cars and robot prostitutes each and everytime. Proper snarky and clever lyrics. Now its Greta Numan and zzzzz..... Wembly "farewell" was my first gig. Wembly "return" is my last. I will enjoy the odd classic from when he was truly genius. And snore through the later stuff. He really is a lazy fecker. After all i stuck with it through Machine and Soul. I deserve better 😂😂😂
I am and always will be a big Numan fan but the you got one saliant point wrong, David Bowie did not like Gary Numan, so there is no way on this earth that Numans music would influence Bowie.
I have heard Gary when interviewed saying the big influence on him was an album “Systems of Romance” by Ultravox who were at the time fronted by John Foxx and not Midge Ure. I do not recall David Bowie ever saying he was influenced by anyone!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣He influenced Bowie???? He said at the time that he was retiring to get into aviation, it all went wrong so he had to go back to music because he was bankrupt.
I like Gary Numan but let's be honest, there's no way he influenced Bowie lol the other way around is more accurate, and I agree he found a unique sound at the right time totally influenced by Kraftwerk, but he was pretty shit, couldn't sing and very simple electronics, he kind of got lucky with the keyboard sounds and possibilities that were coming out he just jumped on and used it. Like I said I like Gary Numan but let's be honest
Bowie was not a fan. Although he eventually admitted that what Numan did, he did well. Gary talks about it in his autobiography. Bowie was a bit of a jerk to him.
Does he really have enough fans to fill Wembley? I just can't see it myself, he's always been a cult artist. Guess much of the venue will be closed off. I dont think the Wembley retirement killed his career he just turned in to a bit of an idiot I mean that warriors album come on man it was very uncool.
Interestingly, the UK Warriors Tour (1983) was 40 dates and 80,000 people. As a "cult" artist, when he retired he'd had 3 Number 1 albums and 2 Number 1 singles in the UK. Move forward to 2017/2018's Savage Tour - over 100 dates plus a Sold Out Orchestral Tour. Will he Sell Out Wembley? No, probably not. But it'll be a great night!
Two number one albums in 79 and one number one in 1980. Warriors reached no.12, he was mega famous for about five minutes. Berserker reached no.45. He quickly became a cult act and remains so today even with the no.2 albums he's scored recently which sold about 20,000 units each comprised of multiple formats. The RAH dates did not sell out either.
A "cult" artist? The Intruder album, the title track of which is featured in this item, was #2 in the UK album chart last year! Not bad for a cult following....
