Depending on how much gas is in the oil tank the first thing I would do would be to drain the tank replace the oil filter and see what happens. Definitely do that before removing the carburetor! You could have an extremely dirty oil filter and what happens is it will not allow oil to go out it builds up and then shoots a ton of oil out at once. This will definitely cause your engine 2 misfire and stall and as usual plenty of that great white smoke! Start with the simple things and work your way up.
So... The video is about gas in the oil... Please explain how a clogged oil filter causes gas in the oil??? I am willing to humor your response but most small engine guys are going to be laughing at your comment.
On my craftsman/briggs I installed a new float needle and a new plastic assembly that the float attaches to, but fuel still poured into the oil. I don't remember seeing the spring at bottom of float bowl though, what does the spring do? Spring visible in your video at 4:38 bottom of screen
@@redneckcomputergeek Just trash-picked an 80 something Ariens snow blower with a Tecumseh 7hp. No tags, no carb but either but it has compression & spark. The Chinese carb I got off Amazon luckily didn’t have a solenoid but with the oddball adapter that the unit has, I have to fab hardware as the stock pieces are some weird proprietary crap. Some gas in the oil and the plug & muffler loaded with carbon. I'm betting it was running full choke for a good while b4 they gave up on it
Replaced carburetor with a new one, but gas is still getting into the oil. What gives? Haven’t done a compression test yet, but engine sounds strong and no smoke.
@@rogerembry4777 I have the same issue. Replaced carb and there is no fuel pump on my troy bilt pony with a briggs & stratton 17.5. It starts up, runs for a minute, then acts like it ran out of gas. If I wait a minute, I can restart it and the process continues. I replaced oil and carb and I think gas is still getting into the engine and I assume whatever the issue is, is also causing it to stall.
Does this problem make your mower blow out clouds of white smoke?? My mower blows out plumes of white smoke and stalls. It does smell like gas is getting into the oil. Is this the problem or could it be something else?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Mine just started doing the plumes of white smoke today. Checked oil and was almost double the capacity with fuel mixed in. What did you find out with your mower? I changed the oil out and at the moment only smoke I'm getting is residual oil being burned out of exhaust.
