Fun fact: The soldiers looked far more gruesome than the recreation shown in the music video. German troops ran not just because the Russian troops kept on fighting, it was because it was like looking at a fuckin zombie apocalypse because they looked nothing less than zombies charging with guns. also standing in the open when MG is being operated
6:13 "Why are they not fighting back?" Here's the thing though; they DID fight back. While the majority of German troops did flee, a few thousand pressed the attack. The few hundred Russians fought in a ferocious hand-to-hand battle, as the gas had damaged their eyes so badly they couldn't shoot accurately. While they used their rifles as clubs and bayonets as spears, battling the heavily armed and vastly more numerous Germans. However, the Russian soldiers were already in so much pain and had already accepted their fate, so they ignored their injuries and shrugged off direct hits from bullets as they tore the attackers apart. The Germans finally retreated when the Russians fixed one of their cannons and started firing on the Germans, who were chased across no man's land by the Russians until they were in machine gun range, when they returned to Fort Osowiec. The fort would fall a few weeks later.

Not just that, but German soldiers KNEW what chlorine gas did to a person. To see the Russian soldiers get back up after being gassed, probably seemed like their enemies coming back to life to drag them down to hell with them. It's how the charge of about one-hundred men made several THOUSAND soldiers not just retreat but flee in a full blown rout.

Glad to see you put Zorzal back into his small box. To emphasis my point: - He crapped on Bismarck, believing the ship didn't exist. - He believes that Christmas Truce should be left in the dust. - He's loathing the German troops here for retreating (to be honest, who the hell would stand their ground after seeing dead soldiers comeback to life back then?). So if he says anything about 7th Panzer Division (Ghost Division for people who are wondering), I'm going to take a page from the Death Korps of Krieg's playbook and beat the crap out of him WITH A BLOODY SHOVEL! (Sorry about the last part, just me getting into character - but it shows how good blacklight's writing is in these videos: makes me want to hate a fictional character even further).

I have read the Manga (English translation) and seen the Anime so I'm aware of how much of an idiot Zorzal is in the series. So the way you've had him react to things like a Kriegsmarine battleship and chemical warfare - it's almost dead on with what we've seen. So don't sell yourself short mate, you're doing damn good work!

Great GATE reaction. The Prince's 180 after realizing was comical. I felt sorry for the others who don't know how crazy we can be when cornered. If you don't have something lined up, I highly recommend Knight SGC Archive's Winged Hussars as a brief snippet of pre-machine warfare. And I hope you are getting breaks in between.
You just have laugh at Prince Cheese Stick really. We weren’t bless with magic, or some mad idea of order by our heavenly ones, we had to forge our own path and ways. In my opinion, that makes us closer to gods as we forge our world with our own hands.

Are we forgetting Dan Daily? He was the one who said "retreat hell we just got here" and led his men through the battle of belleau woods during WW1, not to mention his incredible 1 man defense of over 200 civilians during the boxer rebellion.
I assume Versailles will be the capstone. There's plenty of other songs for them to react to like devil dogs, Valley of death, race to the sea, hellfighters etc. I am enjoying the movements you added, helps keep them feeling alive even though it adds time to production so thank you for that. @_blacklight. it occurs to me, but didn't Sabaton make a song about an all female flight of Russian pilots? "Night Witches", or something like that? It's been a couple of years. Edit: it was, in fact, Night Witches, and they were disproportionately effective for being poorly equipped with outdated equipment, but managed to pull ahead as some of the most feared stealth pilots, and most patriotic. Just seemed the sort of thing that would appeal to Pina and her squad, that even on the other side, women weren't taken seriously as a military contingent, only to out compete their male counterparts in performance and loyalty to the betterment of their nation's future. And Rory would love the Warrior spirit and bloodshed, and the Prince would bluster, while Tyuule takes the opportunity to sabotage him further, perhaps getting a few subtle jabs in, that he's to egocentric to see through. Have I mentioned how much I desperately wished to see that freak impaled like a corpse at the border of Wallachia? Because I hold a deep and passionate hatred for... those who perform the acts he's known to. The depths of my fury for his kind are without limit. I deeply sympathize with Gabriel from Ultrakill (max0r's version) everytime I discover one.

Their reactions all were just hilarious and perfect (Rory especially as she was loving every last moment and Zorzal as he went from "What can a green cloud do?" To "How the hell are they still alive after that!?") That said, If they want to something without Germany's Intervention......why not show them Japan's Greatest Defeat at sea? Show them a Bomb run day, the Naval way. Show them Midway. Granted if you don't cuz Midway is kinda a short song, maybe Nuclear Attack?
I support! By the way, you can make a video about the reaction not only to Midway, but also to the Wolfpack. It will be interesting to see how the characters react to aircraft carriers and submarines.

The videos are already great and they're getting even better, reactions on point, context on point, and memes are just exquisite, whilst being consistently uploaded in roughly a week or two. You are breathtaking (insert Keanu Reeves here) (Unrelated suggestion you can add to your list: You could do Shiroyama, since its relatable for the GATE characters and will certainly be interesting to create reactions to [Its about the Japanese Shogunate's (Samurai) last stand against the Japanese Imperial forces (That has fairly modern firearms at that time), fair warning, context is going to be painful to give since it skips a lot of history leading up to this point]

To answer Zorzal, I will attempt to be concise. The Kaiser of Deutschland's 12th Landwehr Army was prepared for many things, as they believed in preparation above all. If chemical warfare measures are to be utilized, it makes no sense to not have protection against your own weapon, that does not discriminate against which it works. If defensive positions are to be taken, it makes no sense to have the position be unable to withstand an assault that would typically guarantee the defeat of its manned personnel. If a weapon is to be utilized, it makes no sense for all required to be unavailable. But, even in this late time of this era of global campaigns and industrialized warfare where men were spent like the munitions they carried, there remained no ability for Earth or Germany's fighting forces to predict how to outdo an opponent that knew they were already dead, did not care for their own losses, and measured their success singularly by how much they made their enemy bleed. A man being melted alive from the inside out by the air they breathe has an expected time alive of an hour. Several hours, if they are supremely hardy. The Kaiser's armies were not prepared for Untoten. Not the walking dead led by necromancers, but instead plain men at death's door who understood nothing would bring them out of the fight alive. Rise again. March again. Charge again. Die again.
I've been fighting a cold for the past few days and I got the notification for this and check it out. Everyone's reactions are great. I think my favorite character reaction is Rory's. Especially toward the end.
I know it's far off. But I'm still looking forward to the day Final Solution or Rise of Evil are shown. Just my curious yet unyielding nature to know all since Rory asked back in episode one "What's wrong with being loyal to your leader?"
I found Rise of Evil to be a bit too long and time-consuming.. especially when I'm going to have to do an explanation segment in the middle of the video. 😅 In addition, there wasn't much for the characters to react to in the Rise of Evil fan-made music video, only at the last part it was.. For The Final Solution, though, somewhere in the future!
Good GATE reaction. for the next video, I suggest Sabaton's song NIght Witches, the 588th Night Bomber Regiment of the Red Army consist of all woman pilots and Navigators of between the ages of 17 and 24 during World War 2.

I would like to see them react to pre WW1 stuff like carolus rex, gustavus adolphus, poltava or a lifetime of war. Something about Napoleon would also be quite interesting, there are 2 songs about him, which I really like even though they aren't from Sabaton. The first one is the Art of War by Serenity and I Will rule the Universe by Civil war.

That was freaking awesome! It's great not only to see the characters' reactions but seeing how you've developed throughout these videos is satisfying too. I do have one idea for a video, though frankly, it is insanely ambitious, so I wouldn't blame you for not doing it, or saving it for hitting a subscriber target. A video featuring 3 songs: Sarajevo, Great War, and Versailles.

@@bobchickentyson9219 agreed and my favorite battle in the Pacific in ww2 amarica was so fucking lucky if lady luck wasn't on amaricas side then amarica would have lost it's entire pacific fleet and it's main land would be threatened so yeah lady luck was on the US side for the battle

G'day mate, just liked and subbed, I also went back and watch your other videos, you've come a long way since then :) If I may suggest some other videos for GATE to watch it would be from Horrible Histories, they have a large amount of funny and educational content from different time periods of history, my favorite segment of the show has to be "stupid deaths" even those are great but short, either way mate I'll be eagerly waiting for your next upload :D
