What is craziest about this photo. In the far background of this photo is tiny specks of light dots. This could be futher then the Hubble ultra deep field. It also makes me wonder how many civilizations are in this one photo? Remember that this is about the size of a grain of sand held out at arms length. Truly amazing, my uncle James would have been proud.

In billions of years from now, if we're still around in one form or another, we will show this image to emerging alien civilizations and they won't believe it. They will only know our galaxy because that's all that will be seen.

I don't believe in a personal God, maybe Spinoza's and Einstein's take, but images like this and realizing the scope of The Universe is so mind-blowing and leads to a sort of mystical experience. Beautiful, exciting, and daunting!

If you broke down the per minute cost and opportunity costs to fund this whole project and resulting sub grants to research its finding to me as a taxpayer and told me it was soiled in wasteful spending and corrupted in human error …I’d still say this picture, as is, is worth it!!! Stunning!!!

Absolutely astonishing! It's hard to comprehend the vastness of universe. We can see far to the past by this image. Sadly, due to expansion of universe most of these distant galaxies won't be visible "soon". In any case the construction and design of #JWST is something extraordinary. Well done!

Looks like a lot of lensing. Perhaps gravitational. I expect no amount of mirror and optical perfection can rid the image of that sort of distortion.

The full-resolution image is 4537x4630 but yes, why not use the lowest resolution possible in this video to demonstrate the capabilities of this new telescope. Also maybe add even more JPEG artifacts next time, we can still see a couple of galaxies here and there.
