How to disassemble you GE dryer to clean the lint deep inside past the lint filter. Short cut to deep cleaning out the lint. Dryer is taking forever to dry. Dryer is really slow. Dryer won't dry clothes in a normal amount of time. Clothes dryer is taking too long. Model GTD42EASJ2WW

Thank you so much! 🙏🏻 My health has been greatly impacted as a result of Google switching completely to ZERO help mode with any and all searches. That being said, this afternoon with as much bravery as I could muster, I marched through the initial search bar straight to Google Lens fully aware I may be parting ways with Earth today. My ignorance of shop vac maneuvering past GE’s lint trap would surely result in learning the limit of my blood pressure. It is because of you the latter remains unanswered and the odds of my premature cremation have been drastically reduced. I wish you a blessed Monday!

I just got my front panel off on my GE dryer and that was most definitely where the problem was. I had a thick, heavy, compressed build-up of wet lint in that container right under the lint trap on the front panel and it was 100% clogged. My dryer suddenly wasn't drying my clothes in a full cycle so I pulled the dryer out away from the wall and ran my vaccuum wand up the back end of the dryer and cleaned the duct as well. Put it all back together. Still not drying right. I'm glad I ran across these videos about the lint build up in the front b/c I was very close to ordering some new parts for my dryer. The only issue I had was one of the two screws at the top of the door that fastens the top panel to the front panel was frozen solid and I stripped it. I had a complete set of drill bits and started with the smallest and worked up in size and basically drilled the screw out until it finally let go. If that happens to you, you can just drill a new hole that matches the screw size near where the stripped screw is and it should be fine. Thanks to all you guys that know about these things and share your knowledge with everyone else because we couldn't have done it without you.

Thank you for this! I was trying to find this info in the manual with no luck. Tried googling it with no luck. While your model isn’t the same as mine, the lint trap part looks exactly the same. I’m gonna try this and see if the screws are all in the same place 🤞 thanks for showing that too! Once I took the first two screws out that I thought held the lint trap in, it didn’t want to move and I thought I must be missing something. Why’d they have to make it this complicated when it didn’t have to be 😂

When reassembling I had to lift the drum up some to line it back up. I noticed when that front panel pops off the drum leans forward some. I live in an apartment and I’m sure mine has been opened up a couple times, but if those metal tabs on the sides don’t line up just right using a small adjustable wrench to bend them slightly worked out for me.

Yeah I wish I had read your comment before I tried reassembly...somehow when I finally got it to slide back together, the top violently slammed shut on my fingers, which then in pain and surprise caused my other arm (which was inside the open door, holding the drum) to try saving it's poor counterpart and instead just punched the inside of the drum as my forearm cracked against the top of the opening. Then don't ask me what happened to make the top fly back up but it did. And broke my glasses. Thought it broke my nose for a couple hours. 😂 I'm a bit clumsy at times but man, I have no idea where this all came from! I think this particular dryer is possessed, and hates me.

I ended up sticking a thin duster inside broke up all the lint and scooped it all up into the vacuum. Then i just used the dryer normally and it blew all the rest out. Came out nice n clean and didn’t have to take off a single screw.

I didn’t even include the model of GE dryer when I googled removing the lint guard but your video came up, and it’s the exact same dryer as mine! Yay, interweb! I’ve had this thing less than a year and tonight it started drying poorly. Crazy because I am the only person using it, and I average about 5 loads of laundry a month, and it’s already gunked up. I can see so much stuff down in there… wouldn’t it have been great if they made the opening wide enough for the shop vac nozzle to reach into it? Thanks so much for the video, I will tackle this project tomorrow (fingers crossed that it will have enough heat to dry one last load tonight).

Not sure if this was exactly what I was looking for but still a pretty informative video! My situation is something that was caught in the tray fell down in that center spot (and not the side thing that you showed after the unscrewing and messing with wires), and theres a lot of it down there now and I want to get rid of it. I was thinking maybe a thin stick vacuum but I doubt I can find something thin enough to reach there so thats a no go unfortunately. Pretty sure this is my exact same model too. I'm just trying not to call an appliance company if I don't have to! The lint does still catch in the entire tray for me, but I just wanna get rid of the excess.

Question: what would cause water to condense in the vent hose? I just took apart my whirlpool dryer (front and back) to clean out all the lint. I cleaned out the vent hose and the vent to the outside. some of the lint trapped in the vent hose was wet (not just damp, but you could wring water from it). I rinsed it out, cleaned it thoroughly and hung it up to dry. Then I reattached it to the dryer and the outside vent and ran the empty dryer on high for an hour and an no heat tumble for 30 minutes, alternating that 3 times. It then sat overnight. I thought it would be bone dry the next day, but when I uncoupled it from the dryer, there was about 1/2-1 cup of water in the hose and dripping out of the dryer vent in the back. This was an empty dryer!! What on earth caused this??? Is it just latent humidity from the air it's sucking in? Is there a way to prevent this? If it's happening regularly, no wonder my dryer gets stopped up so frequently.
@wetlifesports
@wetlifesports Месяц назад
You have a slinky hose? Get a hard wall and make it as short as possible. Yes, sounds like your condensing up the vertical lenght and it sweats back down and collects. If your lint trap is plugged behind the screen your air flow might be restricted and contributing. Gl
